Daging Goreng (Fried Beef)
2008-01-08 18:25:47
This is my husband's favourite dish of all time. At least once a week , this is the dish that I have to prepare for him. At first I hated the idea of cooking beef as to cut it into small pieces is really tiring. But after getting a good set of knives, I no longer see this as a chore but an essential dish.It is very easy to make as well. Cut about 500g of beef to small cubes.Marinade it with turmeric powder and salt.Boiled it in a wok ( to soften the beef) about 10-15 minutesOnce all the water has evaporated, pour in the oil and add in sliced shallots/onions with two/three pieces of green chillies.Fry for a further 10-15 on low heat. Serve while hot, delicious when eaten with hot fragrant white rice. The amount of oil should be at minimum level , but hubby prefers a little bit more. Whatever it is, go with the flow and your personal preference. ...

Holiday Break in Italy
2007-12-15 18:04:36
A few months back I went to Suisse to give Ann and family a visit. While I was there we went for a day visit at Milan. Initially it was in the plan to at least have an overnight stay but due to my tight schedule , we had to opt for just a day visit. While we were there we of course visited Cathedral of Milan (Duomo), I was ecstatic with joy. It is just breathtaking , weather was perfect that day. Spent a lot of time at the Square taking lots and lots of pictures. We entered the Gallery Victor Emanuel II, architecture wise very beautiful , everything inside is so picturesque. I was totally mesmerised! At the centre of the Gallery, a group of tourists were gathered around a particular spot. There was a dent in the ground, and they were taking turns to put their heel into this dent and turning around three times. For whatever reason, we don't know, maybe for luck or maybe just to make their mark that they helped to make that dent bigger. We didn't have time to go anywhere else in Milan lik ...

Scam of the decade!
2007-12-08 20:43:28
This piece of news, sounds like something from a fiction movie but hey presto anything is possible in our world today. The 'back from the dead' canoeist and his wife scandal ,sparked an upheaval in Britain. Presumed dead (he) after his canoe was found washed up in a million shattered pieces (North Sea). However , Mrs Darwin has openly admitted that they were living as man and wife when an inquest had declared him dead. Which inevitably started the web of lies that she told to the authorities and to both her adult sons (who have in turn disowned both parents after their father surrendered himself to the police claiming amnesia few days ago ). Hahah that bit about him claiming amnesia is really ridiculous, as after a day he has lost his amnesia being in police custody. What made them come clean? There is only one reason because they were careless. Which again is really funny, as Mr Darwin (and Mrs but according to her its all down to him) planned so hard for his disappearance but was bra ...

Knit to Card
2007-12-07 22:54:37
I have moved along from my knitting hobby to card making. I have made a couple of homemade cards before but never dwell in the process for more than a couple of hours. Recently I have decided to put more effort , and spent in total at least 5 hours just on one card! Hahaahah crazy right? Pictures will be up soon, the design is pretty simple but choosing the right colour of papers and the right graphics was the tricky bit. :) ...
Feedbacks
2007-12-06 23:30:00
Tonight , by pure luck I had tuned in BBC1 at 8pm - Watchdog was on . Watchdog as its name suggests is a programme where you as a consumer may lodge a complain about services (usually bad) that you have encountered. Watchdog reps will then investigate the matter and in turn will try to be the mediator. In some cases they will be able to get a solution for a complainer but at other times, they will also hit a brick wall. One of the issues highlighted tonight was about leaving feedbacks on eBay , click here to view full report.I myself have had a bad encounter with a seller in Oct 2007. I have left a neutral feedback as I was slightly disappointed that the seller did not conform to my delivery instructions but I was still kind enough not to mention this in my neutral feedback. Upon leaving this feedback the seller contacted me through email and practically bullied me into retracting my neutral feedback. I am well pleased that this issue has been highlighted. ...

Ive realised that I have not been updating this site with new recipes. I ve been slacking and I think it started since I started working again. Believe me I still am the sole chef in this house but just not enough time. However, I have been trying out many various new recipes that I've pinched from the CARI resipi website. My favourite recipe is the Chicken Stew, a very simple and easy to make dish. The next would be, Chicken cooked with Soy Sauce (with Chillies) yum yum - this was my favourite lunch dish when I was working in KLHmm talking about food always make me hungry.... time for a brew now would be perfect! ...

Recent news : A teacher was given full pardon yesterday by the Sudanese Prime Minister. She is now back in England and was reunited with her family. It has caused a huge outcry within a small group of Sudanese but she also received a lot of support from the locals. Whatever it is, may we all be able to live in harmony.Few local newpapers have taken this piece of incident to provoke further religion related issues , very pathetic indeed! ...

It is a risk that each of us takes when filling in forms and handing them over to banks, building societies, insurance companies, credit card companies etc. Who would have thought that personal details held within a government organisation would be the most vulnerable. What happened to the Data Protection Act 1998, procedures within this organisation? The lost of 25M of peoples’ personal details (child benefit database) is an utter embarrassment for the HRMC. When this news broke, it was announced not by a big cheese but by a junior official. The big cheese has apparently resigned right before the announcement, hence raised eyebrows as to why he was not sack instead. The J.Official, also stressed that all banks are on alert to monitor the 7.5M bank accounts that are affected by this lost of two disc( a normal dvd-looking disc) within the internal mail of HRMC. However, in this morning update news, the banks announced that they are not equipped to monitor such a large number of bank acc ...

Pic courtesy of BBC's news website.Tragic end for a smart and beautiful girl. May her soul rest in peace and the culprits be brought to justice. Pic courtesy of BBC's News websiteAn unnecessary act of violence, in a quiet part of the world. As shocking as the Virginia Tech shooting. Is there any justification to this act, is this a coward for shooting himself in the head? We will never ever know the real reason, and the real heartache and life punishment goes to the 8 families of the victims. May their souls rest in peace Seriously, what is this world coming to? ...

Have I got News for you is just so hilarious. It is a show of a panel that consists 4 people talking and giving schtick about current and real affairs/news around the world.Last night, one of the topics was about a fashion designer lady named Aya Tsukioka who has conjured up some clothes to deceive muggers. Personally I think this is an insane idea, but for Aya she claims that foreigners might see it that way but it is apparently very important for her country. Well I've never visited her country therefore unable to comment further. It does make me wonder though, if you were the wearer would you actually have ample time to unravel yourself into disguise?pic: courtesy of www ...

Folding tshirt in a simple way

I stumbled upon this by chance, during one of my web hopping. Lo and behold, it was on youtube as well - well what isn't these days. I have no idea how long this technique has been around for , therefore must apologise if it is old news. Tried and tested , and it is really that easy. I went a bit over board and decided to re fold all the tshirts in our wardrobe. :)This technique is so simple to turn a mundane task into a quick 3 steps, that I do wonder why we couldn't figure it ourselves , well myself. :) ...
