Blog Virginity and Other True Life Tales of Blog Horror
2007-08-13 22:52:18
Class, I'm absolutely horrified! And I'm asking you to help your blondalicious teacher out here! Console me and answer my poll below! Or enter my contest! You see, I've gone and done it! Confession: I am no longer a Blog Contest Virgin! I know....I know what you're thinking! Your OWN sassy teacher. She of the black silk teddy, naughty lingerie, and feisty words actually started a blog contest of her own? Yes, tis true!I wanted to experience how it felt, plus I wanted to see if offering a $50 Gift Certificate would make me excited, generous, loved, and happy! And it did. It did.... for a while. Thus, on my Who's Yo Mama? blog, I've posted my first contest. I'm no longer a virgin. Late last night while the meteors were whizzing by and I was sooo excited watching them streak through the dark night sky, I recruited Elvis Presley from the grave to sing for my readers in a YouTube video on my blog contest. The contest rules are to subscribe to my blog and express feelings/thoughts/memories abo ...

How To Get Six-Pack Blog Abs
2007-08-08 05:22:41
Class, I've been busy researching the best blogging work-out tips for you, and I'm back today with the TWO best techniques to rip your blog and to achieve those six-pack blog abs. Your six-pack abs will be irresistible to other bloggers, so Listen Up!My instruction won't include techniques to link-bait, game the system, manipulate or con your blog into the best shape it's ever been in or even attract a gadzillion Digg readers through trickery. No, my six-pack blog system takes dedication, will power, patience, and time, but if you follow my system, your blog ab's will be rock-hard baby!First Hot Tip For Building Your Blog Abs: Other blog teachers may teach you that cardio is the way to go--spitting out those blog posts day after day and never letting-up until you're out of breath and inspiration. Not me!It's important to use variable blogging insteady of steady state cardio. What is variable blogging you ask? It's simply blogging whenever you have something you really want to post. For ...

Squidoo is a Do-Do
2007-08-01 05:54:00
Class, lately I have become totally infatuated with Squidoos or Squids as some call them. They are like a country cousin to blogs, but they are more tightly focused on a specific subject. If you have a passion for something and know a lot about it, Squidoos are your answer. They're not nearly as complicated as blogs and require little computer prowess-- placing somewhere between a Tumblelog and a blog in tech skill level. Of course, the great lenses are a glory to behold for they are so ALL inclusive!!Many bloggers are also successful Squidoo lens masters.Due to having acquired a mentor who held my hand through my first Squidoo creation and marketing, my first two Squidoos are ranking fairly high for baby Squidoos. One of them is at 2,237 and the other at 3,074 ranking. My mentor has Stumbled them for me which I'm sure helped a lot. :Smile:You can earn money for your favorite charities with your Squidoos (lenses), or you can keep all the money earned from the advertising revenue (they ...

Blog Fantasies--How to Find Birds of a Feather
2007-07-31 05:56:53
Class, your teacher is back from the blahs and the weekend parties. Before beginning this post today, I decided to jump around to some of my favorite bloggers to see what they were up to, and that's when I realized what a super sweet blogger I've been. What I've been freely giving away, other bloggers are using for blog contest bait! How dumb a blonde can your blondalicious teacher be? Maybe it's time I play hard-ball like these other bloggers. Heck, I just gave away all my rockin' Pownce invitations with nary a contest! Do you want me to crack the whip and get out my paddle? Don't hold back.My questions:a. should your blondalicious teacher toughen-up?b. should I run contests? If so, what do you want to win?c. should I post more controversial stuff?d. should I mix-it-up more with other bloggers?e. OR should I do all of the above?Let me know what your desires are, and I'll take them into consideration. Dress me up, and maybe I'll play along--as long as you remember I am the boss!Maybe s ...

Share Your Favorite Blogging Tips
2007-07-27 11:22:09
Class, I discovered a post over at Cash Quests which is right up my alley, if you know what I mean. It's a tag list where anyone who wants to join in gets to share their best blogging tips. And since Blog-Blond is ALL ABOUT blogging tips, well....So without further ado, I have copied and pasted from Cash Quests the rules which are:"The concept of the list is to share everybody’s best tip about blogging and to introduce you to some new sites that you may not have visited before. I was tagged by James from Reality Wired and I like the idea of learning together and sharing our best advice, so I’m going to continue the list and publish it here! With the Goolge Pagerank update just days away and backlinks being a crucial factor - this is one list that you want to join and republish immediately! -Start Copy- It’s very simple. When this is passed on to you, copy the whole thing, skim the list and put a * star beside those that you like. (Check out especially the * starred ones.) Add t ...

Blog-Dog -Daze, Contests, and Praises
2007-07-26 23:13:36
Class, if you're anything at all like your blondalicious teacher, the Dog Days become the Dog Daze, and the days seem to stretch into infinity-- you become listless, bored, and restless. Posting on your blog(s) feels like the last thing you want to do. I was reminded of how important it is to keep writing and posting even when you don't feel like it when I received this email from Copyblogger this week titled "10 Steps to Becoming A Better Writer":Write. Write more. Write even more. Write even more than that. Write when you don’t want to. Write when you do. Write when you have something to say. Write when you don’t. Write all the time. Keep writing.Heck, rather than posting, I'd much rather be reading and laughing my a$$ off at the comments made by others on blogs. Comments are where so much comedic material lies, and where bloggers bounce off of each other in the most entertaining ways--a laugh riot to be sure. However, I'm back because I want to win 50 SMACKERS from Blogg ...

How Do You Feel About Paid Reviews?
2007-07-24 05:42:49
Class, I've got to get something off my chest--the subject of paid reviews. Now before you get your knickers in a twist, Listen Up and hear me out. Even though paid reviews can be a nice little money-maker and the ubiquitous signs advertising the price of reviews give one the impression that review-purchasing is hot and heavy, I've never liked the concept. I hear you screaming in the background, "BUT WHY?"And I'll tell you, just so I can get it off my....ahem...fairly large sized chest. It has to do with my sense of fair play. Why should another feel such a superior blogger they can charge you for a review? Remember this: a fool and his money are soon parted. Just because they have more links and a higher Alexa ranking? BFD.I like tit for tat in my dealings with others. I like balance in my relationships, and I like link reciprocity and comment reciprocity too. I like to give as good as I get! Call me a cock-eyed optimist if you will. This is why I was VERY happy to discover Courtney Tu ...

All Aboard For The Blog Feed Train
2007-07-21 02:53:54
Class, Listen Up! I'd trying YET another experiment, this one started by none other than the Mad Cow, John Cow. What you do is this: Copy this list to your blog and then add five more to the bottom. If you're as dumb as your Blondalicious teacher, this is an exercise in patience because I had to hand link each and every subscribe link as well as the original link which made me a little bit hot under my black silk teddy! Maybe one of my brilliant students has another easier approach. However, if you're like me, you must make sure when you're adding the subscribe link to add either atom.xml or rss.xml after the name of the blog. Here's an example: http://www.blog-blond.blogspot.com/rss.xml For the other link that corresponds to the subscribe link, you leave off the xml, got it? I subscribed to all of these blogs through my Google Reader since that's the way I prefer to read my daily bloggers updates. It's fast and easy. And this is how I discovered this list as I had already subbed to Bl ...

The Five Types Of Bloggers
2007-07-16 23:43:44
Class, gather round and Listen Up! Today I'm going to teach you about the Five Types of Bloggers plus give you great links and blog contest information. As you know, your blogalicious teacher runs around the blogosphere in her MBT sneakers all day long searching out great information to share with you.I'm researching blogs and bloggers so that I can be the best blog teacher you'll ever have. From this research project, I have discovered FIVE distinct types of bloggers:1. THE SERIOUS BLOGGER--usually business, corporate, political, non-profit, or news bloggers. They rarely return a comment or acknowledge your existence, even if you've schmoozed them and soaped them, and they promised to soap you back. Promises are made to be broken with them unless you're in their world. Forget about friending them, asking for a link exchange, or networking with them unless you have a 'serious' blog.2. THE SOCIAL BLOGGER--usually Mommy bloggers, animal bloggers, humor bloggers, journal bloggers, photog ...

The I-Follow List
2007-07-15 11:11:09
Class, most of you're tucked in bed dreaming of blogging revenue, hotlinking and other crazy, far-fetched ideas while your diligent, blondalicious teacher is still working into the night. After receiving the green light confirmation email from Deborah of Fast Lane Transport to copy the latest list of the bloggers participating in the I-Follow Movement, I decided to go ahead and post the list tonight. All of these bloggers below are participating. If your I-Follow blog is missing from this list and would like to have it added, you may leave your name in a comment and I'll add you to this list. Reference earlier posts if you don't know what I-Follow is.*As The Garden Grows*As the Garden Grows*Tricia's Musings*Breath of Life Photography*Shadowscope*Odd Planet*You are in My World Now*Gadget Girl Accessories*krissy.nu - life.unscripted*For the Heck of it!*Off The Cuff*Shellis Sentiments*The (Other) End of the Internet*Patrick Says v2.0*Just for Today*Window Shopper*The BenSpark*Pointless Dri ...

Technorati Exchange Experiment
2007-07-14 00:33:46
Class, I'm back just in time to give you your Friday Homework! Not to worry, this is an easy assignment. Here's wassup: I recently added the niftiest button in the galaxy on my tool bar, and I suggest you do the same because it speeds everything up when I want to fav someone on Technorati. Yes, it's a simple green button with a white heart inside, and when you see a blog you like, you simply click it. That's all! Sweet!I am all for speed, convenience, and ease, and the OLD way of fav'ing someone on Technorati was tedious. Now it's easy for me. And since I read Dosh Dosh did a little fav'ing experiment (which is now closed!), I thought your blondalicious teacher should run a little experiment of her own. Remember, I am nothing if not experimental. So this weekend between chugging your beers, goofing-around, and partying, fav me and let me know that you've done so either through comments or email, and I'll fav you back. Sounds like fun, eh??? First download the button on your tool bar to ...

Meme Me One Last Time
2007-07-09 21:38:34
Class, listen up! I'm going to get-it-over-with--the memes, that is! I don't know how you feel about memes, but they're like giving birth to me-- very painful! However, out of respect for two of my darling readers/students who tagged me for the EIGHT THINGS YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME meme, I'm going to play along. What's painful about memes you ask? I'll tell you straight-- they're more than slightly embarrassing to me! Plus I never know who to tag. After tagging various bloggers in the past who DROPPED THE MEME BALL, I'm not gonna go there again! Thus, I will leave the meme open to whomever wants to play. So I'm breaking rule Number 4 below, and if you don't like it, Bite Me! I don't know who the Meme King or Queen is that made up these rules in the first place... maybe some demented borg... but I'm not too worried about breaking a rule. What's the worst that can happen to me--never be tagged for a meme again?! Yeh!So "TAG, you're it" to whomever."Here is how this thing works:# * Each pla ...

Five Blog No-No's
2007-07-04 02:32:57
Class, I'm back after a brief recess, and I have Five Blog No-No's for you and how to fix them. Some of these may make you squirm in your designer jeans. Before we start, wasn't your substitute teacher/guest blogger Sue thorough with her No-Follow post? I have also removed the No-Follow from my blog template, but I haven't posted the I-Follow badge yet on my sidebar. Oh well, you know that your comments will now receive a link-back, right? So jump-on-in and mouth off, won't ya?So Listen UP my darling ones, here are my top five Blog No-No's:1. My number one bitch these days is the endless messaging I'm receiving from fellow bloggers on MyBlogLog. It's very simple: Don't do this! It feels like spamming, looks like spamming, and hey, it IS spamming! I'm not the only other blogger who's griping about this, as I've read plenty of negative feedback on other blogs. I bet MyBlogLog folks are probably scrambling to fix this new service. Blog relationships are important, so don't screw them up. 2 ...

Guest Blogger-Sueblimely on No-Follow
2007-07-01 05:18:29
NoFollow -NoGood for bloggers? Sueblimely Australian blogger here. Please don't change channels; Blog Blond has allowed me the honor of Guest Blogging today. The topic: the pros and cons of 'nofollow'.Let me start by explaining what 'nofollow' is. It is an attribute that can be added to websites that tells search engines not to'follow' links to external sites so that they do not gain any advantages in the ranking process.I am talking today about 'nofollow' on user added links; for example, in blog comments, forums, and wikis. Here is an example showing a link with and without 'nofollow':Blatant plug for my blogrel="nofollow"Google now won't raise my ranking to 10 (as if!)BackgroundNofollow was developed by Google as a method of reducing online spam, the idea being that if search engines did not give spammers higher ratings for numerous external links, it would remove a main reason for spamming. (try telling the automated spambots that!) Advantages of nofollowThere may be a degree of re ...

Social Networking In The Summertime
2007-06-26 04:19:53
Class, I'm back and with great news. I have found a substitute teacher---err, guest blogger to post about the subject I assigned her: No-Follow. She answered my ad, and am I ever lucky because she's really smart, unlike myself who is only sometimes smart when given the right dosages. What have I been doing, you ask? More to the point, what haven't I been doing! Hey, it's summertime, and a girl's just gotta have fun, right?Oh, okay--I know you've probably seen my mug on the sidebar of your blogs as I was checking up on you. I can't sneak up on you because of MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog anymore. I'm happy to report most of you are readable, and my ADD didn't kick in if you're keeping it Real and Juicy. Only one of you bloggers caused me to speak up and make a comment about the widgets being on top of one another.Speaking of keeping it Real, I finally got around to watching Rosie's video blogs, and Rosie is all about keeping it Real, maybe even Raw. On her latest video she has as her guest ...

The Law of Diminishing Returns and Blogging
2007-06-19 22:20:17
Class: I know you must be wondering what the h** happened to our teacher for she's M.I.A. And here's my alibi: I've been taking a break. Ya see, I believe in this information overload age that there's a need to renew yourself or you grow stale....your posts grow boring...and you're just regurgitating information you've read elsewhere.Do I hear grumbling in the back of the classroom? You want to see more of your blondalicious teacher with her great blog information-- I know...I know! But let me teach you about The Law of Diminishing Returns and how this applies to blogging, and then perhaps you'll understand. The Law of Diminishing Returns says that you write one blog, and it's fun; you write two blogs, and it's still kinda fun; but if you blog every day on many blogs as I'm prone to do, you'll get a huge blog burnout/hangover which is way worse than a tequila hangover, trust me!Since I want to bring you fresh, fun, and lively copy, I take a break from time to time. If you're not worri ...

And How does YOUR blog score?
2007-06-13 22:35:49
Class, what I don't know could fill the bra of Pamela Anderson, and you know how big that is! However, I'm always learning, studying, and attempting to become a better blogger--just like you, right? There's not a day that goes by that I'm not either scratching my head in bafflement or tearing out my hair in frustration as I work at improving my blog(s)! When does the learning curve get any easier?Yesterday I discovered a site titled Website Grader which is a really cool site because it grades your blog using SEO guidelines. I was shocked to see the score of Blog-Blond because as I have written from the very beginning of the blog--"I'm just a quark smarter than you." Then again, maybe not! Lately you've been showing how brilliant you are with your scores, and I suppose you're going to write in my comments how much better your score is than mine. I know you can't help yourselves because you want to show-off for your blondalicious teacher! The Website Grader writes,"Ovewr 35,000 W ...

Blog Carnvial Homework
2007-06-09 01:26:38
Class: I received an email today from Kilroy reminding me of his TWO Blog Carnivals, a Relationship Carnival and a Meme Carnival. Since I've never participated in a carnival before, I said to myself, "F'it! I'm gonna do it!"Of course, after reading the rules, I'm going to have to behave myself. I won't be able to write, "F'it" most likely because the rules state no profanity or sexual pictures. I don't really use profanity as I always make sure my 'funky' words are abbreviated or adorned. Carnivals are a great way to bring attention to your blog and attract new readers so I've read.Your Homework Assignment: Write a ROCKING post and join the Carnival along with your Blondalicious Teacher. Here's the link to get the details. Are ya going to join-in the fun, Mr. "Humor-Blogs.com"? I'm sure you would have a lot to say about relationships! On another note, Peopleized is up and running. Bollocks and Blogs
2007-06-07 22:38:25
Class, there are certain words which when I hear them I am immediately cheered up!Bollocks is such a word!I was reading a blog called Blue Witch, and in the comments Kitchen Witch wrote the word 'bollocks', and somehow, I instantly felt better! This word does it for me! It makes me smile! Here's the definition of bollocks from the English to American dictionary:"bollocks n. How do I put this delicately... bollocks are testicles. The word is in pretty common use in the UK (not in my house, of course!) and works well as a general "surprise" expletive in a similar way to bugger. The phrase "the dog's bollocks" is used to describe something particularly good (yes, good) - something like "see that car - it's the dog's bollocks, so it is". This in turn gives way to homonym phrases like "the pooch's privates" or "the mutt's nuts" which all generally mean the same thing. Oh, and this beer from Wychwood Brewery. The word has also slipped through the the State of Florida's censors in ...

The horror of having to wear prison colors is also too much to bear.Someone sent me this silly nerd test, and I'm so depressed I actually took it! Blogged Alive!
2007-06-02 01:41:05
Students! Students! Gather 'round! Aren't you excited I returned on a Friday? Right when you're already kicking back with a beer thinking to yourselves that the Bad A$$ Blond (B.A.D.)must have taken another vacation because she hasn't posted any weekend homework assignments, I show up on your computer screen. Never doubt my love for you, my beloved students. I haven't forgotten about you.I admit it! I've been a very naughty teacher because I feel I've been blogged alive which isn't nearly as bad as being buried alive, but close! What's this, you say?Hey, it happens to the BEST of us bloggers--even your bodacious bloggin' blondalicious (B.B.B.)teacher! With 12 blogs to juggle, there have been days lately when I just want to dip into the jacuzzi and daydream about scandalicious, superficial (S.S.) things like whether La Lohan is going to hang in there with her rehab or whether Britney is going to ditch her crazy hat collection--or other things equally moronic.According to Andy W ...

Blogging In Bed and Preferences Poll
2007-05-23 00:36:39
Class: I'm sure you've wondered about the absence of your blondalicious teacher, right? And here's your answer: I've been busy with house guests. Definition of house guests: those who don't understand about a blogging addiction and who want to talk, eat, travel, and otherwise occupy your time.As a matter of fact, it's not only house guests who don't understand blogging. Many people don't know the word 'blog', could care less about blogs, bloggers, and blogging, and feel that blogging is a silly waste of time. I'm shocked at the statistics which state that 8 out of 10 Americans never even read a blog! Imagine! Blogging is like breathing to me, so when I am forced to give up my blogging jones, I suffer because I love to breathe!Today I told myself no matter what, I'm going to catch up on my blogs! As I was debating where to blog to avoid my company and the noise, I once again considered blogging in bed. My comfortable bed is where I used to blog for a period of time, and I am ...

Are You Ready To Be A Web Reality Star?
2007-05-16 03:10:27

BlogCatalog Community Mass Buzz
2007-05-14 03:01:00
Class: today I'm participating in the First Ever BlogCatalog Community Mass Buzz. I'm not sure what this is--a cross between a blog experiment, rave or a blog love-in-- but spearheaded by the innovative blogger monawea of iwebis, many hundreds of bloggers will be blogging about Blog Catalog today, May 14th!Why am I participating? Because I like Blog Catalog which is using the successful social networking model that made MyBlogLog such a hit! MyBlogLog is the largest social networking site of it's kind targeting the blogosphere, and it has brought me many readers as well as introduced me to lots of great blogs and bloggers, so when I saw that Blog Catalog was doing something similar, I jumped into the Blog Catalog social networking mix several weeks ago!Unfortunately (or possibly VERY fortunately), I wasn't able to line up all my blogs and have them in one place with Blog Catalog, so I emailed BlogCatalog and told them my situation and asked for their help. The Never Ending Story--Blog Style--and One More Tag!
2007-05-09 18:32:00
Class, once again I am playing along, and today I am playing TWO games in one blog. How fun is this! The amazing Kilroy of Fear and Loathing--The Gonzo Papers invited me to complete the following sentence and then pass it on to someone else via email. So I pick Tisha of Serenity Quest because she is the Comment Queen Extraordinaire, and I know she'll catch the ball just as Kilroy knew I would! :-) Here's what Kilroy sent sent me:"The telephone rang. I counted, one...two...three..."And here's my contribution: ...and let it ring til the answering machine picked up. Would that hot-to-trot sex-crazed druggie ever stop calling?TAKE IT AWAY Tisha and email the Never Ending Story onto someone who will keep the ball rolling and the story unfolding....This must be the week for fun and games, and you'll never find me complaining about this! The Education Meme Tags Blog-Blond
2007-05-07 22:16:00
Class: one of the best ways to get some attention for your blog, possible subscriptions and a readership following is to participate in carnivals and memes. My thought is this: Keep Showing Up! Eventually your pesky presence will either win some begrudging respect from other bloggers OR maybe one day cupid will shoot a bow into their hard, black, not- inclined- to -link-love heart while they're reading your post, and they'll finally fall in love with your blog! Miracles happen! The Gonzo Blog Carnival Series is an opportunity to shine the light of your fabulous posts for others to see.Today I'm following my own advice, and I'm playing along with the dude who writes Fear and Loathing--The Gonzo Papers, Kilroy, because he tagged me for "Kilroy's Education Meme." He's also promoting an Education Carnival you might want to participate in as well.-----------(-)>What was the name of the teacher that was most influential in your life from grades K through 6?My answer: Mrs. Sullivan in th ...

Paying It Forward--Blog-Angel Style
2007-05-06 22:29:00
Class, remember my last post about my suspicions about two of my blogs being banned by IE? Well, thanks to the thoughtful reader/angel, The Imaginary Diva, who left a comment about her own experience of having a widget act-up on her and closing down IE for her, I was able to troubleshoot and discover the troublesome widget....Google Language Translator of all things! Who would have thunk it?If it weren't for her experience and sharing her hard-won wisdom with her comment, my two blogs might still be stuck in IE purgatory! So a BIG Shout-Out to The Imaginary Diva for taking the time to share your wisdom! This helpful quality is what makes for a great blogging community as we're all in the process of learning, and the learning curve comes in strange and mysterious ways.Late yesterday (as I was celebrating Cinco de Mayo and in no shape to blog, trust me!), I received an email from a blog buddy which began like this:"You are my last hope contacting ex Blogger now Bloogle-Glogger ! Blog Blocking Rules?
2007-05-04 23:47:00
Class, I keep receiving emails from devoted readers about their dismay at not being able to read this amazing blog (and another one of mine: Way Khool Sites) using the Internet Explorer browser, and email after email, I explain to them that these worthy sites have been blocked by the B**head Blog Buffoons or B.B.B. for short. Please elaborate, you say?The B.B.B. have for some ODD reason targeted my HARMLESS blogs and are censoring them!
