Once upon a Time
2008-01-08 08:50:55
Once upon a time there were two parents. They had two children who they wrapped all their love and dreams in. Then came the day when the two children had a very hard time in their lives. For reasons they alone know they decided to hate the parents.. They told the parents they did not love them and the oldest child sent a hate filled letter renouncing the parents. The youngest one came back home ...

Is My Butt Getting Bigger?
2008-01-06 16:01:48
I really want to know, is my butt getting bigger? It seems like the older I get the easier it is to gain weight. I love the commercials where people in the drive thru order fat thighs and a big gut. I think blogging for me is the same thing. I get a big butt sitting here trying to entertain myself.Oh well I guess it is better than a sharp stick in the eye. I don't do drugs and I hate to drink so ...
Just another day in the life
2008-01-05 07:55:04
Do you live on the edge of sanity? I think we all do. There is that moment that seems to define you, when you wonder, Is this the day I lose it? Sounds funny I know, but we all live on the edge of sanity . We just don't always know what our turning point will be. You hear about the man who robbed a bank and only wanted a couple hundred dollars. When he was caught he told Police he just needed a ...

Humor at Work
2007-12-31 23:24:48
I often find that a little humor can go a long way at work. I can look someone in the eye and with a straight face tell them I will poke their eyes out with a sharp stick if they do not keep their safety glasses on. I have even gone so far as to tape them to someone’s face. He was on break but still in an area where glasses were needed. He was leaning back and I grabbed a roll of tape and taped ...

Editing photos for Dummies like me
2007-12-30 19:47:43
Looking through all kinds of sites, I looked at some for editing my 125x125 picture for Entrecard and was surprised at all the sites that charge just to make them. Why pay when you can do so much with the software that is available for free. You will have to get familiar with the different features but with the knowledge available on the World Wide Web this should be a piece of cake. No? Here are ...

So many Blogs, so little time
2007-12-30 00:21:43
How do you keep up with all the RSS readers and subscriptions you have? Honest to Jim I love the Internet but Jeez how much can one big ol butt take. I neglect my cat and my dawg and believe you me they can make me pay. My cat eats my houseplants and my dawg eats my garden. What's a gal to do. My Family thinks I have left home. When I do venture out of the office they ask who the new maid is. ...

I have been browsing the blogoshere for a couple of days now and I have seen a couple worth mentioning. One is http://incinq.blogspot.com/ This is a very unique blog in that you send in your picture and include some lines about yourself in the form of poem. It goes like this: 1st line: one word that represents you 2nd line: two words that describe you 3rd line: three words that show you 4th line ...

Making 125x125 buttons
2007-12-28 20:39:41
Oh my Gawd! I am not the smartest person in the world I will be the first to admit, but why in the hell it took me two days of gut wrenching searching to find a way to make my own Entrecard picture is beyond me. I was surprised to see how many sites charge to make one for dummies like me. I finally found a great website called http://softsea.com that has every thing imaginable to edit, resize or ...
New Year, New Traffic?
2007-12-26 17:43:44
With the New Year upon us I know that one thing I want is to lose 70 pounds and gain 70 visitors. I wish that was the way things worked. I read John Chows post about the top Internet whores and I want to be one to be one too. I know, ya gotta have a following right? I am guessing it will not happen over night. The first thing you would need would be a niche that people will want to read about. I ...

Christmas Already
2007-12-24 16:12:54
I can't believe Christmas is here already. Time flies when your going into debt. I want all three kids to wear themselves out so Santa does not have a very late night! We told the 10 year old to go play in the woods and play hard because bedtime was 5 pm! All that got was a look of indignation and an evil eye. Two minutes later she was telling her Papaw she was getting a wedgy from a tight pair ...

Will my visitors come?
2007-12-22 17:31:38
I started blogging because I am in dire need of extra money. My hubby cannot work and for other reasons getting a part time job is not feasible. I work third shift so writing blogs can be done in the am when I get home. I tried doing surveys and they pay but very little, very slowly. My niece started a Myspace page for me and I already had this blog. I started looking around trying to learn as much as I could on blogging. I enjoy writing, but it looks like there are so many sights already going that have transformed into a business. I would like to do reviews on products and of course sponsor ads. I ran across a site called Entrecard. I joined up and now it is just a matter of waiting for the results. I am still learning about this so I will write again about my experience. So far it looks as though I will get some traffic. It looks as if it would be very good for people who have an Internet business. You use the credits you earn to buy advertising on others web sites. If this works ...

Breast Cancer
2007-12-21 12:32:07
Just a note, I started thinking about a good friend of mine. She is a breast cancer survivor. She found out about it after dealing with Uterine cancer and under going a Hysterectomy. About six months later she discovered a lump in her breast and after a biopsy it was found to be malignant. Ugly word for an ugly disease. I hate it. She found an Oncologist who sent her to a surgeon. He performed the surgery and to add insult to injury he pretty much disfigured her. It took her a long time to heal after this . She has a hole under her arm that will never heal. It opens and drains all the time and she has permanent nerve damage in her arm. She has had so many things happen to her after this. She has a hubby who also has health problems and she fell and broke her wrist. That took about six months to heal because of her bone strength and the Cancer. She goes to New York every year and walks in the Relay for Life. I admire her for her spunk and determination. She also has a Daughter who is de ...

What's In For Us?
2007-12-19 16:17:19
Those are four words I cannot stand to hear. Why is that the first thing asked when someone is told "way to go! great job!" Do they not get paid to do a job the right way the first time? My place of business is going through a big change right now. We want to keep our jobs here and not send the work to China or some other overseas country. We now have the most efficient way to produce and can outdo any other outside contracting companies. When these people go 105% they want to know what is in it for them. I always tell them "a paycheck" I did not go knock on any one's door and ask them to come here to work. They come here and then want extra to do what they were hired for. Don't get me wrong, we reward our Associates every chance we get. But we also need something over and above the standard. When they are told that the objective is to keep our Community employed and keep our stores open, they say "I can find me another job" That may be true at the time but what they fail understand is ...
Saving the World (at work)
2007-12-19 04:43:09
You run into people everyday in your life that you want to help. Above and beyond the daily grind. People that you think if "I could just reach I could make a difference". It is very hard for me to step back and look into myself and not worry. Most of the people I meet have been the way they are for a long time and I am certainly no counselor. I am very easy to talk to and keep private talks just that. Private. So private that I have been asked why someone else never gets in trouble. I usually respond by asking them if they have ever heard something I have repeated about them. When they respond by saying no I ask why they think they would know about another persons problems. That usually gets them thinking about the trust issue. I try to just listen and sometimes I get too involved and then I usually get hurt. It makes me feel jaded sometimes. To appear distant to people that work for me. It is not that you do not care you just can't put another monkey on your back. I had one person th ...

Children and Who They Really Are
2007-12-11 02:17:06
I love children. Don't get me wrong. I really do. But I can't help but look beyond those pretty little smiles and the cooing they are so good at and think to myself, " oh you think you got me fooled" They are so angelic when they sprout their phrases like " I love you sooo much" or " I want to live with you forever" How about " I am going to buy my Momma a house with a maid when I grow up". The minute they turn 13 the monster they have so carefully hidden for all those years starts to come out. "I want" and "I won't" seem to be a common language they all share. "I want an Ipod", "I want a cell phone", "I won't do it" "I won't stay", "I won't go". I think they are like that movie where the aliens put the town to sleep and impregnated all the women with alien babies. We are stuck with these creatures until we learn to co exist with them, which is difficult because we are struck dumb until they lose the monster hiding inside. ...

Hello
2007-12-11 02:15:12
I am new here. I have lots of things I like to talk about. This was made just for sharing anything and everything. What are your interests? The hot topics now seem to be gas prices and Paris Hilton. I don't care a whit about Paris but the prices of gas are unreal. How do people afford to drive Hummers and Expeditions? I wonder what do these people do . They must make good money. They speed like hell on the freeways and I drive the speed limit to try and save on gas. It cost me $45.00 to put 14 gallons of gas in my car. How much do you think the gas companies will make in profits this year? Last year they said they made so much profit because they handled their business more efficiently. I think the tax payer actually helped in that respect. I live too far to drive a Moped or I would. I actually would ride a horse if I could like the man on the news. Boy would that cause a stink. I wonder, if you have to clean up after your dog would your horse have to wear a huge diaper? Who would pick ...
Working With Different Cultures in the South
2007-12-09 20:41:23
I have the good fortune to work with many different cultures at my place of employment. There are many different types that are represented. I look at the work ethics of them and see all the differences in these people. I am not going to call races but just different personalities. We have a group of people that are trying to find a better way of life and because of their background they work harder because they see the opportunities that we as Americans take for granted. Another group only does what they know and because of the long history of suffering they do not even try to better themselves. After much discussion with them I find that they do not want to try. It is easier to let the Government take care of them as though they are owed something. I am not sure why this is. So many of these young people have children with no Fathers and when questioned they say " I don't need no man to have this child" I try to tell them that society is not being helped but hurt by this attitude. Al ...
Christmas
2007-12-07 13:59:51
Christmas. What a time of year. It seems that the more we go into debt the happier the economists get. "Sales are up", "People are spending lots of money" but are we doing the economy any good? The stores make good sales but how much of this outstanding debt is actually paid? Does this really help the economy? The stores get their merchandise sold and then they get paid by the credit card companies and then what? With foreclosures at an all time high who really cares if people are spending more? The mortgage companies would rather they were the recipients of all that cash. As a homeowner and a Mom I know the times that I feel pressured to buy, buy ,buy just to make the kids happy. It is the way I was raised. I know it is wrong and this year I am going to try something different. Instead of all the gift buying I am making homemade gifts. I can make earrings for my girlfriends that are unusual and won't be found anywhere else. The dollar store has everything in it to make a gift basket f ...

Today and My Thoughts
2007-12-06 04:10:29
Today I am in a reflective mood. Maybe because I have been off work for a couple of days and now I am dreading going back. Sometimes I wonder what the meaning of it all is. Why are we here and what will the future bring. I know that I work hard and am on salary but it never seems to be enough. I am always wondering where I am going to get the money for the next bill that is due. I feel bad about being on a pity pot because so many people have it so much worse than I do. Does that make me sound like a bad person? I know that sometimes I know that I am only concerned about me and how I survive. I do not drink nor do I do drugs. I do not steal from people and I certainly don't tell whopping big lies. I go to work everyday and help my young ones do their homework. I am on third shift and I know that is not helping my moods either. I know people who are stealing food stamps and welfare checks from the Government. I know people who pay others to be able to claim them on their income tax and ...
Grammy On the Run
2007-12-05 13:42:17
Yes, I was a Grammy on the run. I had the kids and I was on the run. At least that is what they said. I had the paper and they had a warrant. They were signed just minutes apart. The hard thing was knowing after all the years of raising them I could now no longer even see them. Why does everyone think it is ok to have kids, dump them for a couple of years and then all of a sudden they are gone and you no longer can see or contact them at all. Because of an internet love affair? I am embarrased to say that a child of mine called the warrant on me. The months after were hell on earth for us. Thrown in jail with no possibility of bail and then later when bail was set it was $50,000 for each for a total of $100,000. We could not even put our house up because we both were incarcerated. I have a friend who must love me very much. He went my bail and because we did not know how things work, he lost his whole $10,000. I am happy to say after all this the DA dropped all charges and seven months ...
China, A threat to all?
2007-05-21 10:59:35
I really do not pay a whole lot of attention to foreign news, but I am going to get educated because of the pet food scare.I buy the cheapest pet food and I did not think this would affect me at all. But after researching the crisis with China I find that it is not just our pets but so much more. By value, China is the world's No. 1 exporter of fruits and vegetables, and a major exporter of other food and food products, which vary widely, from apple juice to sausage casings and garlic. China's agricultural exports to the United States surged to $2.26 billion last year, according to U.S. figures -- more than 20 times the $133 million of 1980In February, border inspectors for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration blocked peas tainted by pesticides, dried white plums containing banned additives, pepper contaminated with salmonella and frozen craw fish that were filthy.Since 2000, some countries have temporarily banned whole categories of Chinese imports. The European Union stopped shipmen ...
