Adopt a poem
2007-06-24 23:25:04
Adopt a poem When I write my poems, the sentences of the letters are set free to be read, felt and with your experiences, they can become your own. When you adopt a poem, though, don’t put it in your mind that I am the poem.  I am just the author, and like children, the poems have a life of their own. ...

Absolute Dedication
2007-06-24 21:10:19
Absolute Dedication Don’t trade your trophies into cold cash, Because you never know what victory will be the last. The reputation was carefully crafted in the past, But the impression is fresh when the new dye is cast. Be merciful in defeat of your opposition, And you will enjoy a favorable public opinion. But when it comes time to win the competition Be [...] ...
Together forever
2007-06-17 22:08:23
Monsters in my mind have written my name across your heart, and though we are not wed, we will be together to death do us part. It is not just your gentle smile or your friendly breasts that warms my lonely soul. There is special feeling between us I know. There will be other to come who want to take my place, but I will stay first [...] ...
Human Fears
2007-06-06 07:21:15
You say you’re all confused. Decisions are hard to make. Your past is your present. You survive by living day to day. Through all of your troubles, you say that you love me. When I look into your eyes, the truth is there to see. We need each other’s touch to calm our human fears. When your hand touches mine I feel all the problems disappear. My Victory Song
2007-05-30 07:47:46
Here’s the poem of the Month for June, and sun can get hot in Laredo……. My Victory Song Hello world, I’m ready for you today. I’m going to fight and fight, and I will not be afraid. The sun can blaze and burn, the ice can bite and freeze, the desert sand can blow, but I will still feel the gentle breeze. The hours seem longer, as my watch ticks on. I will fight and fight. I will sing my victory song. I’m here at last, home safe, happy and alive. The sun, ice, desert sand have done their best, but I still survived. ...

The sun will rise and set on our love
2007-05-28 05:37:20
Photo by Mike Hall “The sun will rise and set on our love” is a poem that is about 10 years old, but its still as good as if it were written yestersday.  The sun will rise and set on our love   The sun will rise and set on our love, and it’s light will make us shine. When the light goes down at night, I will want your body next to mine. It’s going to take a little more time, but I know it won’t be much longer. Our feelings for each other will have the chance to get stronger. We’ll get back together again, and I’ll spend everyday with you. Each day will be an adventure, and each morning will be new. The sun will rise and set on our love, and it’s light will make us shine. When the light goes down at night, I will want your body next to mine. Now that we’re in the same place, we can have a heart  to heart talk. We can go in the waves by the sea and hold each other close as we walk. We can be free to express our dreams, and how they can become real. he ...

Thinnest Conceit
2007-05-28 05:13:45
The conceit is a type of poem that uses imagination, fancy metaphors that are sometime elaborate.  The power of words is clear when the choices of words are critical to the poem’s messge.  Thinnest Conceit     A rubber band is used best       when its material is stretched,       and my heart expands to hold   your  love and caring of       others until the time the  rubber band breaks at the thinnest        point.  Then the circle of friendship is  snapped, laying out broken         hearts along the line,  including mine. ...
Train Crossing
2007-05-13 05:39:17
There are times in our lives when decisions that directly affect us need to be made.  These choices often affect other people, which makes the decisions even harder to make. A some point, though, there is a time when that choice is made.  As the reader, recognize the poem below is at the climax of a story whose details are in your imagination, and what happens after is up to you. The poem, Train Crossing, is at a point of no return, for the tracks mark the threshold to a new life.  Train Crossing The train is not coming, and there’s nothing on the track. It’s time for me to go, and it’s best if I don’t look back. This is just an old country road, but it’s the only way out from here. It’s not what lies before me now, But my past that I really fear. The big city has opportunities and I hear you can easily blend in. Get a new job and a new life, and I know I can start all over again. The train is not coming, and nothing’s holding me back. The memories begin to fade away a ...

Calico Creek
2007-05-07 06:13:08
There is alway a place that is different for each of us where we can remember when important times in our lives occured. Often, this place is the same place for several of these “events.” Of course the physical place this coule be would naturally change over time, but also our memory’s perception of this place would change at the same time. The color of calico is not one true color, but a mixture of colors, like a mixture of memories. For me, there are several places that could be a “Calico Creek,” but the photo above the poem is not named Calico Creek. If I had ever taken a photo of a place I could envision as all my places put together, this photo comes close. Where is your “Calico Creek”? Calico Creek I learned to fish on Calico Creek. I figured out how to put the wiggly worm on the sharp hook. You can’t go fishing by the book. I learned how to swim at Calico Creek. My brothers thought it would be fun One day to throw me of ...
Two Candles
2007-04-30 05:18:11
This is the poem of the month for May. It’s not just about fire, either.  Two cold candles,    one slightly larger than the other, are placed together,    by side, through the hands of fate. The flames from the different candles     ignite and grow taller, brighter, and sometimes they become     one unified flame. As time continues, the melted     wax created from the heat merges  the two candles and the flames     stay as one. A breeze blows, threatening the fire’s      effects. The candles get shorter  as days pass by, but even when      the candles are exhausted, many more sets of candles are     ignited from their everlasting fire.  ...

The Smiling Tree
2007-04-23 10:26:07
They said it was true But I didn’t believe Until I saw it myself- The famous Smiling Tree. Its buds were in bloom, And the petals smiled at me. The bright colors were Certainly a sight to see. Happy seeds fell on the  People on their way down. If they touched the earth, They turned into a frown. Seeds took root into the Visitor’s reborn souls. People smiled at everyone, Even those they didn’t know. The trip to the strange plant Set my fears and troubles free. With many seeds set in action, Smiles spread exponentially. ...

Dream Eaters
2007-04-23 09:16:34
Silently,  invisible to the naked eyes, they attack, slow at first, like a creeping cold that is just a nuisance,    then a cough, and a sneeze, or two, or three or four or….the dream eaters have worked their way    into a person’s life, cloning themselves at incredible rates that rival any viruses that can take over the body. Just as a cold congests the chest, the dreameaters create problems that are defined in medical terms, and drugs are used at first. Then attitudes begin to change, and the person is not the same as they used to be.    The dream eaters are doing their job, depriving the person with the will to see beyond the very next day.     Friends and family and prized personal possessions are subject to neglect or sale.     Plants and trees might as well be black or brown instead of green.      Barking coughs come from deep with the damaged soul. Eyes fill with water, but do not dare cry. The dream eaters disperse as the personspeaks, breathes or s ...
