Let Your Glory Be over All the Earth
2008-02-23 13:50:00
Psalm 57Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me,for in you my soul takes refuge;in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.He will send from heaven and save me; he will put to shame him who tramples on me. Selah God will send out his steadfast love and his faithfulness! My soul is in the midst of lions; I lie down amid fiery beasts— the children of man, whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! They set a net for my steps; my soul was bowed down. They dug a pit in my way, but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast! I will sing and make melody! Awake, my glory! Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn!I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your s ...

Popular Parent Blogger
2008-02-22 15:31:00
As I wandered around my usual HUGE list of blogs that I read on a daily basis and checked my referral links. I stumbled upon the fact that I have been included on the Popular Parent Blogger list. This is a list compiled by Momablogga.I want to give a very special thank you to all of my readers. Most importantly I want to give thanks to the Lord. He is the One who makes any thing that I do worth wild and credit goes to the Lord for all that He has taught me. I would not be the person or parent that I am without the godly wisdom bestowed only from above.Take a moment and visit the others on the list. I am sure there are many that you are already aware of but you may find a few more great blogs to add to your reading list.

School Buckets Show & Tell
2008-02-22 15:02:00
Organizing the materials and books for each child is also important. I had a friend introduce me to this particular idea and it has made a big difference in organizing our materials. Each child receives their very own plastic bucket. They are similar to milk crates in size. Each child places their folders, math books, readers, journals, paper, container of pencils, and anything else that is specific to their course of study in these containers. They have a designated place for their buckets and are required to pull them out before school and to return them after school.Visit CanadaGirl for more Show and Tell.

The Gossip Line
2008-02-21 17:17:00
Whoever covers an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends. A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool. (Proverbs 17:9-10)I have been pondering these verses the last few days, since the Lord brought them to my attention. No one is perfect, least of all me, I have never claimed to be. I am, however, an individual of self- evaluation. I am constantly evaluating my life, my actions, and my motives. I strive to live in obedience to Christ in all things. Yet, I have failed over and over again. Each failure shows me my continued need for my Savior. The truth is, we all fail. As Christians we are to spur one another on to good deeds, but we are also to hold each other accountable and to rebuke our brothers and sisters in Christ so that they might come to repentance when they sin.If an individual is one of understanding as mentioned in verse 10, the rebuke will go deep causing them to evaluate their life in light ...

Spaghetti Face!
2008-02-20 14:45:00
Oh, the simple joys of childhood. Children are such a blessing! One way in which I was blessed this week was to see and be reminded of the pleasure in little things. To my precious little one, spaghetti and a run away from the wash cloth was full of joy! She was eventually caught and cleaned but the smile continued on. There is nothing like the joy, laughter, and smile of your little one to brighten you whole day and outlook. Enjoy the little things!!

Exercise?? Who Me???
2008-02-18 15:58:00
THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH IS TO BE READ WITH HUMOR!!!There is a little rumor floating around the blogosphere that I would like to dispel. The rumor is that I am responsible, in part, for this exercise thing. Ummm, I hate exercise! So this is a warning out there to all of you, be careful what you post in a comment it may just implicate you in something you were not expecting. I left a nice and what I thought was an innocent comment over on Becca's blog and she ran with it! What is with that??? All I did was ask her if she was issuing a challenge and then she goes and does issue one! She says I was issuing a challenge to issue a challenge. Really, really I wasn't!!! **GRIN** Okay, that paragraph was ALL in fun!!!! You know, Becca makes a great point in her post concerning this exercise challenge. The following is a small excerpt. All you Moms of Many out there.....we need to stay in shape! God's blessings are many, but that doesn't mean we get to sit back and do nothing. We ...

This post has been sitting in draft form for a while and was staring me down. So today must be the day to post it. Please visit the links, leave comments, and be blessed by the testimonies given. Hopefully, you will leave a comment here too. Here is our second Quiverful Carnival.Lisa from Me & My House writes: "How can children be so controversial, especially in Christian circles? It doesn’t seem to be so in Muslim circles, or Mormon circles, and it wasn’t in Christian circles prior to the mid-1900’s either. But it is today. So this post will no doubt be controversial."Read more of her article, Children~ A Heritage.Jennifer Posted an article written by Jewish Rabbi Shmuley Boteach on The Blessings of Children. Homeschool Organization Show & Tell
2008-02-15 14:36:00
For Show and Tell I thought I would share how I organize my teacher materials and resources. I have a specific place for things and they are easily accessible, not only to me but also to the children who will need them. This makes things flow pretty smoothly during school. I have two bookshelves located in the hallway about ten steps from where we have school. It is easy for me to pull things out and to replace them. I typically pull out everything I will need that day and replace it as I finish with it. This gives me a visible and tangible way to tell what I have accomplished and what is still left to be done. The children can go and get their resource books and replace them as needed. Below is a photo of our two bookshelves piled with 95% of our schooling curriculum. Even if it is not a grade we are utilizing this year, it is still on the shelves. Next week I will share how we organize the individual children's books and supplies. If you click on the image it should open l ...

These are great for "just fun" times, or as a junior craft when older children are busy with real rockets. Just print, color, and follow the directions! For more fun you can experiment with the variables. Try using different weights of paper, or different size bodies. Move the fins into different positions and see how it flies, or make your own fins that are cut at different angles. So follow the link and enjoy making your own paper rockets! The Revival the Church Doesn't Know About
2008-02-12 14:50:00
I ran across a snippet of an article the other day. A lady on my blogroll had posted it. It said some things that I often find myself feeling. I immediately went and read the entire article and it was well worth my time. I have posted just a portion of the article here and would encourage you to go and read the rest. The warning below is from the actual article. So be warned, you will be challenged, you must decide what will you do with that challenge.Warning: Offensive post to Sunday-only Christians ahead. Proceed with cautionWe struggle with discussing the issue of sound Biblical doctrine, multi-generational vision, family worship, Biblical gender roles and the like because we know it easily offends those who also claim Christ but for some reason or another do not hold to these teachings in scripture. We struggle with how to discuss these things without being perceived as prideful or "holier than thou", or haughty. But in all honesty, we can't cease speaking what the Bible says ...

Book Tag
2008-02-12 13:38:00
I have been tagged by Lisa @ Lifestyle Education Discipleship. Here’s the rules for this book tag: Pick up the nearest book of at least 123 pages. Open the book to page 123.Find the 5th sentence.Post the next 3 sentences.Tag 5 people. The nearest book that I grabbed actually has 1200 pages! I kid you not! It is the Encyclopedia of Christian Quotations. So I went to page 123, found the 5th sentence. Here are the next 3 sentences.Because of lack of fortitude and faithfulness on the part of God's people, God's word has many times been allowed to be bent, to conform to the surrounding, passing, changing culture of that moment rather than to stand as the innerant Word of God judging the form of the world spirit and the surrounding culture of that moment.Francis A. Flaming Darts
2008-02-11 22:30:00
I am not the type of person to attribute everything that is distressing in my life to attacks from Satan. Many distressing things are placed there by the Lord in order to grow us into Christ likeness. Many distressing things are due to the consequences of our sin. Yet, the Word tells us that Satan will attack. Even when Satan attacks we can take comfort in the sovereignty of God in the matter, just read the testimony of Job. There will be attacks from the evil one and to endure we are to take up the shield of faith.Today was a day when it was made clear to my husband and myself that we are indeed enduring an onslaught of flaming darts from the evil one. We must make sure during this attack that we respond not with the corrupt desires of our flesh but by holding fast to our shield of faith in Christ Jesus.Ephesians 6:16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.The evil one is crafty and tries to ensnare u ...

Pray for Your Children-Pt. 1
2008-02-10 15:08:00
1. Ask God to protect your children with His loving care, so that no evil can reach them and lead them into temptation. Pray that they will be safe from harm (Psalm 33:20).2.Pray that your children would use Godly wisdom. Ask God to give each child a discernment about people, as well as knowing the difference between right and wrong in the actions of their friends.(Proverbs 18:24; Deuteronomy 13:6,8).3.Pray that your children would stay pure in their thoughts and deeds, striving for God’s way of holiness for their lives (Psalm 24:4-5;Ephesians 1:4)4.Pray that your children will accept responsibility quickly and with humility when they fall into sin. (Matthew 5: 23-24).5. Pray that your children will be alert and thinking clearly as they study their schoolwork and in their extra curricular activities. Heavy
2008-02-09 14:56:00
This week's Photo Hunt theme is heavy. So here are some heavy facts about elephants!Elephants weigh approximately 10,000 pounds. The typical weight range is between 7,000 13,200 lbs.Elephant trunks can get very heavy. It is not uncommon to see elephants resting them over a tusk! They poop 80 pounds in one day.The largest tusk ever recorded weighed 214 pounds and was 138 inches long. Because tusk size is an inherited characteristic, it is rare to find one now that would weigh more than 100 pounds. The sole of the elephant's foot is covered with a thick, cushionlike padding that helps sustain weight, prevents slipping and deadens sound.

Show & Tell -- Wooden Crosses
2008-02-08 14:45:00
This is my first week for Friday Show & Tell. It has been very frustrating for me to try and decide what to post about. Everyone seems to post so many different types of things so I guess just about anything goes. What I chose for my show and tell is something that I love. I love crosses and I collect unique ones. We have several crosses in our home. The cross is a constant reminder of the sacrifice that was given for me and therefore I like to display them in a prominent place in our home. The majority of them are wooden crosses and they are mounted on the wall above our piano. So I snapped a photo of those to share with you. The photo does not really do them justice but it gives you an idea.
