Drug and specifically alcohol addition are difficult things to break away from as they become so intwined with the lifestyle of the person suffering from them.
Although it’s considered in a different light legally the drug abuse treatment that is required is best attacked in a similar manner to alcohol treatment ie in a truly holistic manner that [...]
Breaking 400 years of precedents, Great Britain’s law Lords have ruled that it possible for those alleging sexual abuse to take legal action even years later.
One wonders whether the Manmohan Singh Government in India has the will or the capability of making such major changes in India. Certainly, it has made a beginning with its [...]

ADA Compliance Review Corp., an ADA consulting company, has introduced their 'Compliance Assurance' program in response to the tidal wave of Disabled Access lawsuits. Now their clients can maintain ongoing compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and avoid lawsuits. Under the new program the Company will send an ADA compliance specialist to the client's site every 3 months.Under the ADA and California law, a business that is open to the public must have designated parking and no steps or curbs blocking an entrance. Bathrooms and aisles must be able to accommodate customers with wheelchairs and counters cannot be too high. The law allows a disabled person who has been denied access to a public building because of access violations to file a lawsuit.According to Philippe Heller, president of ADA Compliance Review Corp., "Once the parking lot paint fades or the disabled parking signs get knocked over or damaged by graffiti, the business is again subject to an ADA lawsuit. A study by the Yemen Ministry of Interior reveals widespread sexual abuse of children in primary schools in Yemen. Teens like statistics alot. Well, not the subject (especially me) but the numbers just would do the trick if you want to be convinced of somethingo, dont they?Do you know that there were an estimated 908,000 new inhalant users in 2004, up from 332,000 in 1999. The rate of first use among youths age 12-17 rose significantly from 1999 to 2005, from 8.4 to 18.8 per 1,000 potential new users, and remained level after that. For young adults age 18-25, there was an increase in the rate of first use between 1999 and 20066 (from 4.7 to 11.7 per 1,000 potential new users) and a leveling off in 20077 (9.2 per 1,000 potential new users). With this numbers, its not very hard to imagine that one of our immediate friends if not, a number of our acquaintances are into drug addiction or drug abuse. Even I can name a few of my friends who used to be addicted to some prescription drug medicines but already went to drug rehab. With this sad but true numbers, we can safely say that teens of this generation

I saw this article while i was reading on Reddit. I thought that i was very interesting as i have done posts on the 12-Steps and my Recovery. It is a very interesting article. Researchers have uncovered a key genetic switch that chronic cocaine or stress influences to cause the brain to descend into a pathological state. In studies with mice they showed how chronic cocaine changes gene activity to enhance the addictive reward from the drug. And they showed similarly how chronic stress induces the same kinds of changes that hypersensitizes the brain, causing depression-like symptoms. The researchers said their basic finding in the animals could lead to better treatments for addiction, depression and other psychiatric disorders.Eric Nestler and colleagues published their findings in the November 8, 2007, issue of the journal Neuron, published by Cell Press. In their experiments, the researchers explored how chronic cocaine or stress exerts “epigenetic” control of genes in the brain.
Many abuse survivors are afraid to speak out.
Sai Baba’s proxy defenders on the Internet and elsewhere make the most of this difficulty. They say there have been no prosecutions of Sai Baba. Yet it often takes years or decades before survivors can come to terms with what happened to them.

In our times of darkness, children are the ones who will brighten us up. No matter what ordeals we have to endure in our daily lives, we know that we can overcome them the moment we set eyes on children. Their innocence and purity in them will always give us a sense of peacefulness and calm that is beyond words. And it goes without saying that life would be meaningless without seeing them smile, hearing them laugh and cry, and feeling their small and flawlessly gentle hands that want to reach out to us.Yet, there are some who show no empathy and sensitivity towards these beautiful souls. Worse still, they would dunk themselves into physical violence and cruelty towards the children without even thinking twice. Such acts can deem someone to be worse than an animal, because even an animal has compassion and love for its young. What is going on with this world? Why must such horrid acts be carried out? Why do these people ever exist in this world? Please take this time to read this special

If you’ve read my previous post, you may know that I’m now in holiday mood and try to get some rest before full-forcing myself to blog on marketing issues again. However, I couldn’t ignore an email that I received this morning. A campaign called “Blog Against Abuse” was started by BlogCatalog to let the world know that bloggers do care about abuse issues. Here you see, I’m back to blog and proudly announced that I’m joining thousand of bloggers from around the world together this Thursday, September 27th with a single message - Stop Abuse!Stop abusing animals!Recently the Selayang Council offered money and prizes for participants who catch stray dogs in particular places. However, lots of complaints have been reached out to the media that finally stopped the campaign. It shows that most Malaysians are still care about animals’ rights. BB Market Place strongly disagrees with such a campaign which can only lead to more animal abuse and animal deaths. This will not solve t
All across the Blogosphere today, bloggers are posting about abuse--and in whatever form that means to them. I've already posted on three of my other blogs. You can read my posts: here, here, and here. However, I was preparing a special post for this blog, and then I read my friend Sue's post. Sue lives in Australia, and she's what I call a GREAT blogger. When she researches a subject or posts on anything, she is thorough and prolific! The name for her blog is Sueblimely--Discovering Blogging. She's the kind of blogger who inspires me to be a better blogger.Since there's no point in re-creating the wheel, I ask you to please read Sue's magnificent post by clicking here.

I think that I will go for the big one. The ultimate abuse; murder. Most countries have laws and sanctions against it. Religions proscribe it. Most individuals say that it is a bad thing. The "golden rule" makes it illogical. I'm probably misquoting Clint Eastwood (Unforgiven): "Killing's a hell of a thing... take away all that a man has... and all that he'll ever have."And, yet... We go on murdering by the tens of thousands each year; perhaps hundreds of thousands and millions, world-wide, depen
The official entry found for domestic violence according to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary is: the inflicting of physical injury by one family or household member on another; also: a repeated or habitual pattern of such behavior.
My readers, whether it directly or indirectly affects us in our lives, I think we are ALL aware that domestic violence is akin to a strongly-flavored onion with its many layers and tear-producing capabilities.
If ignored and allowed to take root and grow larger, far-reaching, serious consequences are nearly always the tragic result.
Children and adults who were once very outgoing and happy people may gradually become socially withdrawn and very anxious, often behaving in such a manner that might be construed as being "weird," "bizarre," or "rather strange" to their loving family members and/or close circle of loving friends.
"What's wrong with Morgan?" she is acting so weird."
"Don't ask me. I have NO idea."

Brought to you via Bloggers Unite.Every special interest group rants against abuse of one form or another. We hear about Elder Abuse, Child Abuse, Spousal Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Emotional Abuse, Physical Abuse, Psychic Abuse, Worker Abuse, Environmental Abuse, Self Abuse and so on and so on and so on.... It is my belief that abuse is always indicative of deeper issues on all sides. We live in a culture that loves abuse. Our government abuses its citizens by sending them on jobs and to fight battles for no apparent reason. We abuse ourselves by overeating, not exercising (even when we are in pain and could benefit so much), and staying in jobs and relationships that make us miserable. We abuse each other by taking others for granted, using others for our own purposes (on every level), and pretending it's OK. We abuse the planet we live on by polluting, overdeveloping and farming, and destroying what we see fit.We each no start by making a commitment to ourselves to be happy, to l

Class, if you're staying current with the Blogosphere, you know that today is Blog Against Abuse Day, and bloggers are posting about their specific abuse topics. I don't wish to miss out on this opportunity to bitch about the abuse of Humor Bloggers. Why aren't we taken seriously? Why aren't we given more respect? We probably lower your blood pressure WAY more than the bloggers who post about "how to make money blogging" and "hot blogging tips" (which usually aren't so blazing hot once you've put them into action and seen the results!).We don't put you to sleep and bore you to tears like business bloggers. We ignite your juices, exercise your smile muscles, and we work out your abs because you're laughing so hard. Therefore, I propose that Humor Bloggers should be The Way To Start Your Day! Read one of your favorite humor blogs (or more), and begin your day in a healthier fashion. Leave the doom- and- gloom blogs, the business blogs, and the hot- blogging- tips blogs to right before bedti
Today is the day when bloggers all across the blogosphere blog against abuse, and my choice is to present a beautiful video with the voice and philosophy of the deceased scientist Carl Sagan. We need to stop abusing our earth, our blue pearl, our one and only precious Terra! This beautiful video makes this point with eloquence!
Today is the official Blog against Abuse Day as you may have noticed on my little poster on my sidebar. It’s where bloggers all around the world are, you guessed it, blogging on any form of abuse in any field. There are blogs today on stopping animal abuse, elderly abuse, abuse against children, sports games, anything and everything you can think of. So when thinking about what topic I would choose that was relevant to my blog, I decided to take a stance today that is controversial in the world of anxiety. And that is whether or not to take medication. In my opinion, by depriving yourself of medication that can help you live a more ordinary life, you are abusing your self worth and your right to happiness. That’s a pretty bold statement to make and I am sure many of you are reeling right now ready to rip me a new one. So I will list all of the reasons I know of as to why people don’t take medication and my thoughts on them. If I forgot one or don’t have your reason on there
In honor of Blog Catalog's invitation to Bloggers Against Abuse, I decided to blog about a subject that is of great importance to me and others who are a part of the graphic design industry. The internet is the best thing that ever happened to many skilled professionals' careers. It allows for a broader market in which to provide services. It allows for lower overhead costs. It's truly amazing. However, with all good things come the bad, this is the balance of life. For instance, Craigslist is a great way to look for or provide goods and services, employment opportunities, activities. But plenty of "lowlifes" populate the site as well, looking for completely free professional services or looking to pay as little as possible for them. The graphic design industry suffers the most from this, and both "Vultures" and some designers are to blame. Some designers are willing to provide hours and hours of work for as little as $50. Some aren't really designers (whether or not you have t

Everything is created for a purpose. So is the Internet! The principal rationale behind the existence of the Internet is to provide ample convenience for us. With the Internet, students need not always loan a book from the library for research, because they can gain access to all the essential information on what you are looking for, all with a simple click. With the Internet, a business owner can establish an online store, make contacts with prospective customers and clients, and even make their first million. With the Internet, you can get in touch with your family members and friends, even when they are a million miles away.Forlornly, the Internet, which was manufactured for the right reasons, has of late become a center for all the wrongdoings of mankind, from crimes and robberies, to all the picturesque that arouses human sexual desire, which is none other than pornography and cyber sex. There has been an unremitting buzz about the occurrences of these virtually unpleasant acts. Em

(A non-political post coming up here having a lot to do with Philadelphia – by the way, posting will be sporadic for the rest of the week after today.)A family member communicated to me that the Philadelphia Inquirer practiced actual journalism in its “Magazine” section today (having to do with People/Lifestyle/This Week’s Beautiful Celebrity In Trouble stuff), and what is even more unbelievable is that the person responsible was Karen Heller, who, to my mind, is one of the worst features writers who has ever lived.I am quite sure there will be a response to her column today, but she states that Bill Marrazzo, the CEO of WHYY, Philadelphia’s public radio and television station, earned $430,786 in salary and an additional $56,250 in benefits during fiscal year 2006 (as Heller observed, pulling in a “for-profit” kind of salary for a non-profit operation).(Her column is actually a follow-up to the criticism by Arlen Specter of Matt A. Peskin, who makes $255,000 in salary and
Another horror story courteously of a bureaucracy that is supposed to protect children...From ABC News:The woman accused of abusing, starving and holding nine adults and teenagers captive in her ritzy Florida home may have received as much as $2 million in child welfare payments, authorities tell ABC News.Judith Leekin, 62, allegedly duped four different New York City adoption agencies into allowing her to adopt 11 children, all of whom authorities believe she later abused, between 1993 and 1996. Florida authorities say that Leekin used as many as five different aliases to remain undetected while she adopted multiple children, applied for credit cards and paid mortgages with the money intended for the children. "She received between $1.5 [million] and $2 million for sure," said Robert Vega, a spokesman for the Port St. Lucie Police Department. "But we have not gone through all her financial documents so far so the figures will probably change."While 10 of the 11 adopted by Leekin have

Now that's rich. What a hypocrite.Hope he rots in there...with his hook up his ar*e. Allahpundit is there again. The cleric is claiming it is against his religion and human rights to be treated by a homosexual. The source said Hamza’s solicitor wrote to the governor demanding his client is given a new regular nurse. The prison service refused saying it does not discriminate on grounds of sexuality. The source said: “The nurse is upset about it. He has spent the last couple of years doing everything for Hamza, even wiping his bottom.“It shows how little respect Hamza has for others. The nurse dresses him, washes him, cleans his teeth, cuts his toenails, trims his beard and applies ointment for his skin disorder.”
There should be no cozy place on Earth for ANY type of racial discrimation to call their home I say!!!!!!!
I think a very big step was taken in the sports world today and I am not referring to the size of the player's shoes on the field.

It's "one of those weeks" this week. "One of those weeks" IS code for "I'm one step away from bring an Uzi to work and blowing off the heads of every even slightly moody prick that enters my office."; right?Kidding! Ha!'Kidding!" is code for "I really mean it, but I'm I'm trying to keep the cops off my trail."; right? Yesterday a very old, crotchedy couple came in screaming at me because they never received a season brochure. Like *I'm* in charge of the US Mail or something. I told them I was sorry that they didn't receive it but that I most certainly DID put it in the mail with the rest of our other 1,200 patrons' brochures. They apparently didn't believe me and continued having a little shitfit. As if I go through our bulk mailings and hoard certain subscribers' brochures to add to my Evil Symphony Cunts' Shrine at home. It's pretty fucking vain for them to think even for a second that I'd do that because they're not even worth that much EFFORT. PLUS up until yesterday
In economically developing countries like India, sexual abuse is a still far more tabooed topic than it is in Western countries.
Even though reformers are having a hard time changing attitudes in Western countries, there can be no doubt that India lags far behind in overcoming the cover up of sexual abuse.
One is always glad, though, to hear of breakthroughs occuring. That attempts are being made to overcome a tragic deficit is evident in the release of a major study sponsored by the current Manmohan Singh government. I have blogged information about this study:

Rosh Hodesh of the First Month 5764I was pleasantly surprised to hear of the death of a monster yesterday, a monster responsible for the deaths of a great number of Jews. May the monster's (Sheik Yassin YSh"W) name and memory be blotted out....The response of Leftists was not surprising: “We just have to talk with ‘them’ some more.” Sounds to me like western elitists attempting to say that Arabs should abandon their culture and act like westerners. Hmm…I believe that’s called “intolerance to foreign cultures,” an accusation that leftists generally like to throw at their political opponents. Hmm…I believe that’s called hypocracy. The response of the so-called “international community” was particularly appalling this time. How could anyone in his right mind not see the similarity between this monster and Bin-Laden (may the his name and memory also be blotted out)???But what about the response of the Israeli government? My question is this: How long will it take fo
