A new survey has revealed that about 9.7 percent of Chinese netizen between 13 and 30 are addicted to the Internet. While I have the remnants of a three-month subscription winding down, I haven't logged in to WoW in over a month. Most of my MMO time is going into EVE Online, and a bit into LotRO, neither of which seem to make the same demands on my time.
There seem to be a lot of people leaving WoW around now, and many of them are looking back and asking, "Was I crazy?". There's a particularly fine example on Hardcore Casual.
I know that of our - already small - guild on Argent Dawn, at least five people have jumped to LotRO, and I know another four from an allied guild have done the same. In fact, nearly everyone that I regularly grouped with in WoW is now playing LotRO. The complaint is always the same - a lot of pressure to reach the end-game, and then the end-game isn't up to much.
I'm starting to wonder if Blizzard aren't going to have to start making some changes if they want to hang on to customers...
