  • Anxiety and Allergies (Cont'd)
Well, allergies can get pretty bad. They wrecked the entire day yesterday, and that's no exaggeration. This attack persisted for so long that my health anxiety kicked in and I began to wonder if I had a cold, the flu, or worse. As if feeling miserable weren't enough, the added speculation really did a number on me. A friend did her best to do the very difficult job of talking some sense into me.Anyway, I wake up this morning only to feel better. I cannot say that I'm 100 percent better; I'm about where I was when I wrote the post yesterday. The symptoms are a bit different. Surprisingly I have no headache at all. There's no nasal congestion (in fact, the opposite). My throat is not sore but it's more itchy, almost certainly because mucus drained down it all night long. Still sneezing now and then. Less sneezing, more runny nose. Besides an irritated throat (drainage...disgusting), those are the only symptoms I have. No big deal. But most people with anxiety suffer from health anxiety, so in my weaker moments I begin to wonder if I have gotten a cold or the flu. There's no way to tell a difference that I know of unless you start to run a fever, which I am not at this time. Allergies have been a problem my whole life (was bottle fed an
