This is from June of last year, but this is the first I've heard of it, so hopefully everybody isn't already familiar. A scientific experiment was conducted to determine the impact of anger on decision-making and rationality. It was concluded that anger actually improves your thought processes and helps you to make better decisions which you more strongly uphold. So, take that all of you nay-sayers who constantly criticize us for tossing away the facade of propriety and demeanor of respect for others' beliefs. We're actually better off precisely because we get angry.

The sand pile has sparked anger among residents (left) and the dredger which has gouged thousands of tonnes of sand from the seabed (right)According to my friend Gemma Handy in the UK Telegraph, "One of the world's most famous coral reefs is being put at risk by work to develop a luxury resort in the heart of a Caribbean national park, local campaigners claim."Every time I get the boat from Parrot Cay to Providenciales there is more dredging, larger sand piles, and more building. It is obvious to anyone that this will have a negative effect on the native mangroves and the coral barrier reef (which is very close to shore). The changes in the ecosystem are already showing in dying coral reef and more sand erosion, and many fish are simply leaving altogether."British residents living on the island of Providenciales have lodged an official complaint with the Foreign Affairs Select Committee saying the mammoth scheme could spell disaster for the fragile ecosystem. For centuries the reef, o

Of course we're snowed in and Salinda is stuck at her group home. Did I know she would be disappointed? Of course. I am too. Did I know she'd be angry? Definitely. Did I forget she would blame me for everything? Unfortunately.Yeah, it was my fault. Like I'm God who controls the weather. I should have come yesterday. (We had meetings). I should have come earlier (I already planned to leave at 9). I should have planned differently. In essence, I should have stopped the storm. And then Mike wants a ride home -- after partying in some fashion all night long. He calls and wants a ride in the blizzard. And of course, Dominyk has a dollar so he HAS to spend it. Ricardo wants a ride to Adams. So much for staying home.Tony is at camp, giving us a break, but Dominyk is really on a role. Anger is an emotion that you feel when something irritates you. It can be just a small annoyance or full blown out rage. Your perception of anger was learned, in the form of beliefs and values that were instilled in you. Usually, in the early stages of your emotional development. When any of your beliefs or values are questioned or transgressed, you may feel anger. The degree of intensity depends

I was watching the Jack Nicholson, Adam Sandler movie, Anger Management on DVD and I got to thinking just how good an actor Jack Nicholson is. That's no big revelation really. I'm fairly certain Jack's won a number of awards for his work over the years. However I'll continue on.On the special features of the Anger Management DVD someone comments that almost everyone has a Jack Nicholson impression, because Jack's voice is unmistakably his. Team Jack's voice with the man himself and you have a living icon that few people in the western world would fail to recognise. When you go to see a movie with Jack Nicholson, as soon as he appears you instantly recognise him as Jack, yet, in every single movie I've ever seen him in, he immediately becomes the character. You're no longer watching Jack Nicholson. I particularly like his character, the unorthodox anger management therapist, Dr Buddy Rydell, in Anger Management. Nobody plays a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde character quite like Jack. Sane and cre
Anger is the negation of love, which indicates that the angry soul actually needs love. It burns the soul and others in connection with it and disturbs the natural state totally. People mistakenly believe that anger can bring a situation under control thereby creating a "satisfactory situation". But when I am not satisfied with myself I cannot be satisfied with others nor can I satisfy others.Anger is a spear that wounds feelings. When I react with anger, all I am really doing is damaging myself as well as the other. When there is preoccupation with selfish desires, plans and motives, the soul lays itself open to anger attacks or its related forms: envy, jealousy, impatience, annoyance, irritability, disgust, backbiting, sullenness, violence, contrariness, sulking. Each time anger is expressed, harmful secretions flow through the metabolism causing many physical disorders, such as ulcers, heart trouble and psychosomatic problems.

When you occasionally have a really bad day, and you just need to take it out on someone, don't take it out on someone you know, take it out on someone you don't know.I was sitting at my desk when I remembered a phone call I'd forgotten to make. I found the number and dialled it.A man answered, saying "Hello" I politely said,"This is Chris. Could I please speak with Robyn Carter?" Suddenly a manic voice yelled out in my ear "Get the right f***ing number!" and the phone was slammed down on me. I couldn't believe that anyone could be so rude. When I tracked down Robyn's correct number to call her, I found that I had accidentally transposed the last two digits. After hanging up with her, I decided to call the 'wrong' number again. When the same guy answered the phone, I yelled "You're an asshole!" and hung up.I wrote his number down with the word 'asshole' next to it, and put it in my desk drawer. Every couple of weeks, when I was paying bills or had a really bad day, I'd call him up and y

EXPAND THE POST +/-The idea for the poem below the incredibly powerful video (first 4 and a half minutes), ANGER AND IN-DIG-NATION by Dr. Ryman, began with a comment I read on The Existentialist Cowboy's post about Petraeus' testimony before congress. The words, by Diane B The Gemini Scrolls, are quoted below:"You are right Len, these characters that are running our government, have committed so many horrendous crimes, and need to be in prison if not worse. It appears this is not going to happen with this Congress, will it ever, who knows?"I highlighted the four simple words, only four, sometimes my muse prefers more, but I latched on to those four and could not wipe them from my mind. This fact is not to take away from Diane's full comment which certainly has some teeth. I suppose my muse is to blame for the most part since things usually don't stay in my head for more than a few minutes. The four words called out to me and stayed with me and I do hope that this poem and video call ou
Sorry about that yesterday. Sometimes my commitment to blog authentically embarrasses me becuase when I am feeling things strongly, I am feeling them strongly. And yesterday I was completely frustrated.Mike showed up here at 8:45 this morning for us to help him find a job. It's 9:40 and I already ahve a good lead which is a miracle considering he has no ID, has done jail time, and has no high school diploma. I know that he will say he doesn't WANT to work there so I am going to rely on compaasionate patient Bart to explain to him that right now any place that will hire him HAS to be good enough. My biggest frustration with my kids is that I can make thingis happen for them. But they have to be willing to do their part. Bart is with Mike at the Work Force Center as we speak. He has a receipt for his ID which the employer I contacted will hire him with (while nobody else will). I've been on the phone working on Rand's employment situation as well. So, i'll keep doing my part
I am very sick of the way some people used their credit cards. I used credit cards for convenience. Whenever I charged anything to my credit cards, I would pay up the full payment when the bill came. But some people just have the habit of using credit cards money as though money is free.
Just a few days ago, I received saw a credit card bill. My heart felt a pinch of pain when I saw that there was an overcharge of $45 for late payment — Payment to the previous month credit card payment was not made and there was the current month charges and I had to pay these money in the end! For $45, I could have bought so many things for my children. Imagine my daughter had been asking for a new school bag. I have tried to delay it. Just last Saturday, I finally had saved enough money to buy for her. Whenever I want to buy a new school bag for her, her father will say it is a waste of money, and on and on he will go. But I am just very irritating and angry at how he always manage h

The Route To Effective Anger ManagementThere is never a day when nobody or nothing makes you angry. When you are a teacher, you would get mad with students who are overly mischievous. When you are a boss and your staff has breached your trust in him or her, you would feel upset. When you are a parent and your child disobeys you, you would get worked up.Simply said, when someone is not fulfilling your wishes deliberately or something does not seem to go your way, that is when anger gets the better off you! But do not prolong it. Prolonged anger can actually lead to mental disorientations. You would not be able to carry out your tasks or activities as planned as your mind is still cumbersome with the unpleasant situation. It can even affect you physically. When you get angry, more of the face muscles are being used up compared to when you are smiling. This can make your face wrinkled and look older even at a young age. It also affects your blood pressure. Too much anger can apparently cau

I have attended an anger management course sometime in December, 2005 at Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga Centre. Mr. Arun Doshi, a retired CEO, who is also a meditator, shared with us how meditation can be used as a tool to effectively manage the force of anger. After I attended the course, I realised that anger is caused by our own self and not by other people. But how? Everytime I get angry, I check back with myself and ask myself why am I getting angry? It is I who wants to get angry. It has nothing to do with other people who makes you angry, right? It is I, myself... Anger comes in many forms and the damage done can last for years. My sharing today is about anger. What is anger? Anger is the negation of love, which indicates that the angry soul actually needs love. It burns the soul and others in connection with it and disturbs the natural state totally. People mistakenly believe that anger can bring a situation under control thereby creating a "satisfactory situation". But when I am not
Ego (eg. I am right, I am perfect), arrogant, forget self original qualities, unfulfilled desires (eg. high expectations, demand), position (eg. my religion is better than yours), deception, deformation and judgemental (eg. I think you should/shouldn't...), betrayal of friendship, lack of consideration, lack of justice, insecurity, sensitivity, rejection, create principles, ignoring others view, comparing results, jealousy, stress, financial hardship, unhappy relationship, disharmony and so on.And who causes all these? I, myself. It is because I have chosen to be angry. Nobody else. I allow the situation to control myself. Happiness is our right, nobody allow not to make us happy. Nobody can make us angry if we don't want to.
