Big ol’ shoutout to the ever-knowing kids at the Kids You Know community for these babies. I had the honor of experiencing the ‘Butler Effect’ live in a really small venue. The energy within the small room of a hundred people was incredible. It truly is one of the bests shows you’ll see in a while. So I know the members of KYK are not joking when they say Arcade Fire brought the house down! Luckily, the people who went to see Arcade Fire on November 7th and 17th were nice enough to send me MP3s of Arcade Fire covering the Clash, New Order, and Violent Femmes. You can just imagine the heartfailure I went through in opening that email. As always, Arcade Fire do not disappoint. MP3s: † Arcade Fire - Kiss Off (Violent Femmes Cover) (YSI) † Arcade Fire - Age Of Consent (New Order Cover) (YSI) † Arcade Fire - I’m So Bored With The USA (Clash Cover) & Intervention (YSI)

  • The Arcade Fire Live Covers - Springsteen, Smith, & Clinic
I love the Arcade Fire clan. They are so much fun live, they can definitely bring the engergy and umphness I expect from a true indie rock show. They have also dished out two amazing records — you can’t say Funeral’s 48:12 aren’t an aphrodysiac for you. Looks as though the Arcade Fire can also [...]
  • Not in Nottingham again: Arcade Fire bottled
Nottingham is unlikely to see a gig by the Arcade Fire in the future, after the band were hit by bottles during their Nottingham Arena show. Although it's possible Win Butler was hit by a shoe rather than a bottle, but the point remains the same.

  • Videogasm: The Arcade Fire Rock ACL; Gwen Stefani, and Kanye West @ Emmy’s
The Arcade Fire brought the house down on September 15th, albeit their showcase was a bit Neon Bible ladened; a great show nonetheless — which is what we expect from these epic Montreal geniuses. Below is a video of The Fire playing “Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)”: Here is the new Gwen Stefani music video. Unfortunately this isn’t [...]

  • Arcade Fire and Pluto in Capricorn
Early next year, Pluto will go into the sign of Capricorn for the first time since the American Revolution. As an apt precursor to this shift into a more Saturnine era, Canadian rock band Arcade Fire’s inspired performance at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles had the enthusiastic, sold-out crowd on their feet from the first notes to the end of the last encore.Wait a minute…Pluto? Inspired?...Capricorn? Rousing an audience? They can do that?Rock music at its best is Plutonian, digging down deep and bringing whatever’s down there up to the surface, transforming it along the way. Here's what British astrologer Paul Wright says about Capricorn in his book, Astrology in Action:...this element [Earth, which includes Capricorn] has a strong connection with rock music. This is one expression of an overcivilised culture seeking the revitalising sustenance of pagan roots, and both Capricorn and Virgo relate to this kind of turnabout.Wright goes on to cite Elvis Presley, a Capricorn Sun, as
