It's time for our first rankings of the season for College Hoops. 1.(Tie) Memphis & KansasIt is still tough to tell who is the clear-cut number one. Both Memphis and KU are very similar in many ways. They both play the same type of game, fast paced and rely on their speed and athleticism. Both have some great wins with Memphis beating Georgetown, USC, Arizona, and Gonzaga and KU topping Arizona and USC. Memphis may have a few bigger wins but the Big XII schedule evens it out for Kansas. We may not know who is the "true" number one until one of these team loses or maybe not until they meet in the NCAA Tournament.3. North CarolinaI'll take UNC over Duke even though the Heels lost to Maryland and Duke beat them. UNC is still one of the best teams in the country with one of the best point guards in Tywon Lawson. We may know more a little more about the depth and toughness of this team after a tough stretch with games vs. Boston College, at Florida St., and a February 6 showdown with D
I was able to watch a fair amount of the Michigan basketball team getting their asses kicked by the Hoosiers 78-64 on the 4 letter last night, in a game that was even worse than the 14 point spread would have you think. It was another in a series of embarrassing losses for new coach John Beilein. With a piss poor W-L record of 4-11, they'll be damn lucky to win 10 games this season. Today, on talk radio, in the fishwraps, and on the internets, people are beginning to ask, "What's happened to Michigan basketball?"Three things.1. 10 years of Brian Ellerbe, then Tommy Amaker, running the Wolverine program into the ground.2. After the "Ed Martin Scandal," the Michigan Mafia is happy with hoops being a second class sport, just keeping their nose clean is fine and dandy.3. Tom Izzo. It's beyond obvious that Amaker left the cupboards bare. The Wolverines have only a handful of major conference players, with the remainder of the team being made up with kids who should be playing at a much small

Well, I admit I really cannot tahan anymore. I always like to write about basketball news, teams, and some reviews, but I never started it! I used to think of creating another blog which only focus on basketball issues. However, I feel that’s not easy for me to manage so many blogs at the same time. Therefore, today I’ve made up my mind “I want to start writing basketball in BB Market Place!” Creating another selection for readers will be my great pleasure. Girls, I know some of you might not be interested in it. Don’t worry; I might have adding in more “girly” content in the future. (Of course, I need to get some advice from you girls.)OK, let’s start my first NBA posting by introducing Ranjo Rondo. As a guard in Boston Celtics, I realized that not only the BIG THREE (Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce) are attracting me, Ranjo Rondo is grabbing my attention too. As the second year player in Boston, he certainly seems to be finishing at the basket better, especially

College basketball isn’t going to be so bad in San Diego this season.San Diego State has its most balanced team in years. The University of San Diego is only going to get better under the great coaching of first-year mentor Bill Grier, a former assistant at West Coast Conference powerhouse Gonzaga. Both San Diego teams are young, which is another remedy for future improvement. The Aztecs have only one senior; USD has none.Lorrenzo Wade leads an SDSU team that is 5-0 and is 8-9 players deep in able contributors. The Toreros (2-2) do not have any seniors. Junior center Gyno Pomare has two straight double-double games against Nevada Las Vegas and SDSU.USD hosts the WCC postseason tournament each of the next two seasons. Don’t be surprised if the Toreros win that tournament by next year.Coach Steve Fisher has brought the Aztecs from horrible to mediocre during his tenure on Montezuma Mesa. His team is likely looking at another NIT-type season, which is about as high as Fisher appears cap

He's had this program on the rise for the last few years and this is their year to take it from the Gators. Vols return four starters and eight letter winners to a team poised to make a move. Pearl has experience and depth and the East is theirs to lose. 2. Vanderbilt CommadoresVanderbilt finished a distant second with a decent record in the east and is looking to get a steady improvement this year. The commodores return three starters and seven letter winners from last year’s squad. Shan Foster will be back as the team leader in points but the Commodores will need the new youngsters to take a serious role if they expect to have a shot at being the team to beat in the East. 3. Florida GatorsWill they reload or rebuild? They lost 10 letter winners from last year losing five starters. Billy
Expanded Content at: http://www.thesportsflow.com --> Become a registered member and talk sports in the Forum!By Stefan MingPredicted Order of Finish:1. KansasKU is loaded with veteran players and are looking to get over the hump and reach the Final Four for the first time since 2003. Gone is versatile forward Julian Wright, who will be missed greatly, but the experience and ever-talented Jayhawks are still one of the top teams in the country. KU returns 4 starters in Brandon Rush, Mario Chalmers, Russell Robinson, and Sasha Kaun. Sixth man Darrell Arthur will start for Wright and will be one of the top sophomores in the nation. Also, a rather deep bench should keep them atop the Big XII.2. Kansas St.KSU did lose 3 starters, but their in-coming recruiting class is their best ever. Clent Stewart and David Hoskins are the two returning starters, but Michael Beasley and Bill Walker will help fill in for the other losses. Beasley is a great talent and will most likely be one and done. Domi
EXPANDED CONTENT AT: www.thesportsflow.com --> Register for the Forum!By Stefan MingPredicted Order of Finish1. IndianaIndiana returns some key players to a team that lost in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament to UCLA. D.J. White, one of the best posts in the nation is back along with PG Armon Bassett, SF Lance Stemler, G A.J. Ratliff, and F Mike White; not to mention the new addition of freshman Eric Gordon, who is already looking to be one of the best guards in the country. Gordon will provide the Hoosiers with even more stellar guard play and depth.2. Michigan St.Last year was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Spartans, but they surprised many of us losing in the 2nd round to UNC and finished with a 23-12 record. The top 6 scorers are back, plus they added a stellar recruiting class with a top recruit in Chris Allen. Drew Neitzel is back for one last time and is looking to lead this team deep into the NCAA Tournament...3. Ohio St.OSU lost big time players in Greg Oden, Mike

The U.S. Mens Basketball team finally looks like a program once again, instead of a team just put together. After three impressive wins, U.S. Basketball is starting to look like its old self again. Mike Krzyzewski has put together a team that knows how to play true fundamental basketball, which is the main reason why the U.S. has lost it's dominance in recent years, other than selfish, fancy basketball along with dunks and individual moves. With a starting lineup composed of Jason Kidd, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwight Howard there's no reason to believe the U.S. can't return to power like it did back in the 80's and 90's. Everybody on this team, at least during the FIBA America's Tournament at least, has shown they can share the ball, make the extra pass, and play hard-nosed defense. The team has held it's first three opponents to 30.9% shooting and have averaged 116 points per game thus far.Over the past few seasons the American squad has not had its best players
