Defending champion Phil Mickelson bemoaned a woeful putting display after missing the third-round cut by six shots at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Saturday. Mickelson's title bid fell apart when he ran up a sextuple-bogey 11 on the par-five 14th at Pebble Beach Golf Links but he said the real damage was done by his total of 33 putts. "That was probably the biggest score I can remember (on one hole) but that's not what really cost me the day or the tournament," the world number two told reporters after carding a six-over-par 78. "It was missing all those putts because had I had anything go in today, I wouldn't have had to try to force something there at the end. "I never felt good on the greens and I don't know what the deal is. They were rolling the best that I've ever seen them." Mickelson hit 15 of 18 greens in regulation and putted for birdie 16 times. Yesterday I took my day off and got sick. That really sucks! Want to know how I got sick? By chilling on the beach. That's right. The beach got me sick! You see, thing is that beach sand really isn't too healthy, and spending over two hours in contact with beach sand can get you sick. And it's all the birds' fault!!Mike, I'm sorry, but poop isn't always good. In this case, it gets you sick because beach sand is contaminated with it.Bleah!And that's not all. Yesterday, Amelia showed me a funny video and I laughed my butt off. Now I'm missing a butt cheek...I guess I'll have to go buy one from the local Dollar Tree now.I'll miss you old butt cheek! On Feb 6 the California Coastal Commission is set to have a hearing about the fate of the famed surfing beach Trestles. The plan is to cut a toll road that will run through San Onofre State Park. This project threatens precious coastal open space, water quality and the surf break at Trestles. Hundreds of Surfrider Foundation activists and other opponents of the toll road are planning a rally outside the CCC hearing. Anyone interested in joining the protest is asked to arrive by 9am at Del Mar Fairgrounds - 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. The taking of Public State Park land for private-interests paves way for the eventual loss of all State Park land. Every thing possible must be done to stop this toll road from spoiling one of Southern California's last unspoiled stretches of beach.

Doheny State Beach is popular for day use and overnight camping. The north side of the park near Dana Point Harbor is the day use area. To the south, on the other side of San Juan Creek is the camping area. The campground features 120 developed family campsites and the day use area has picnic tables and barbecue grills. Some of the campsites at Doheny are almost on the beach. These prime camping sites fill up fast so it's best to reserve ahead of time. IF you looking for a primitive camping experience then you probably should look elsewhere. El Capitan State Beach offers day use and over night camping. Located about a 30 minute drive north of Santa Barbara along Highway 101. El Capitan has lots of shady areas with many oak and sycamore trees throughout the park. Some of the camp sites offer beautiful views from the cliff-top.
