  • Zapping Away Beer Bellies:
It is common knowledge that beer bellies are a bad and unwanted extension of the body. They tend to involve a risk of diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol and are also held to cause heart attacks. A lot of men turn towards plastic surgery procedures like tummy tucks and liposuction to get rid of the beer belly or menopaunch. While cosmetic surgery can reduce a beer belly to a significant degree, it has to be considered as last resort. Middle-aged men are advised to change their life-style and dietary habits before thinking of going in for a nip-and-tuck. Drinks like beer and liquor are calorie-rich, something that your beer belly doesn’t want. Even junk foods lead to a gradual thickening of the waist-line A calorie-free food and drink regime is one of the best ways to keep the plastic surgeon away. While cosmetic surgery can help you with your beer belly, it should not be seen as a means to an end. Visit the Plastic Surgery Institute of California for tummy t

Teach your dog to do it and you'll never have to change.Steps1.Tie a rope or a towel to the door of your fridge. If you have a tug toy that your dog likes, this would work as well. 2.With your dog next to you, open the fridge and say "Get me a Beer you Lazy Mutt" or whatever command you have chosen for this command (preferably something nicer). Encourage your dog to pull on this towel until the fridge opens. Repeat this command until they only repeat this action on your command. Don't forget to give praise and a treat when they successfully open the fridge. 3.Have your beer on the lowest shelf of the fridge so that your dog can reach it. Point to the beer can and encourage her to get it. If they don't understand then as you give the command pick up the beer and place it in mouth. Give your dog praise. Give the

  • A storm in a beer cup (part 2) and Australian Open Day 2 Wrap
If you are a regular reader you might remember a couple of days ago I talked about how Robert Allenby wasn't too happy about the bar on the 11th hole of the Australian open. This was his response: Robert Allenby produced some rare theatrics at the $1.75 million Australian Open, donning bright red earmuffs and pumping up the crowd before putting himself in contention for another Stonehaven Cup. Allenby fired a two-under par 70 at The Australian course to move to seven under overall, one shot behind West Australians Nick O'Hern (66) and Kim Felton (69). Defending champion John Senden missed the cut, joining Mark Hensby, Brett Rumford and struggling former US Open champion Michael Campbell on the sidelines this weekend. But all the talk was about Allenby's colourful display, the likes of which is rarely witnessed on professional golf's pristine fairways. Speculation was rife all week that Allenby, who is chasing a third Open to add to his 1994 and 2005 victories, would cop an earful fr
  • Golf News: On course bars and the storm in a beer cup
Two weeks ago Robert Allenby threatened not to play in his native country again after being heckled by three drunken fans during the Australian Masters. His comments since would hardly have helped matters. Stuart Appleby reckons his Victorian counterpart Robert Allenby would have been better off keeping his mouth shut about the galleries at this week's $1.75 million Australian Open. Allenby all-but guaranteed he would be heckled at The Australian course in Sydney, saying he has his earplugs ready for the 11th hole, which will come complete with its own bar. Not all players would have made a similar stance. Appleby, for one, would have kept his mouth firmly closed. "There's a lot of players out there, I'm not sure if the public's trying to target Robert," Appleby said. "It sounds like Robert's saying they will, which only heightens it. "You drop a piece of meat on the ground, you don't have to yell out 'piece of meat' to the flies, they work out where it is pretty quick. "If he'

  • Craft Beer, Signature Cocktails and Organic Wine Top List of Restaurant Beverage Trends, National Restaurant Association Research Finds
New National Restaurant Association research shows that alcohol is among the hottest culinary trends in restaurants. A survey of more than 1,000 professional chefs -- American Culinary Federation members -- ranks craft beer, energy drink cocktails, martinis, mojitos, artisan liquors, organic wine and specialty beer in the top 20 trends. In addition to cocktails and bar drinks, alcohol is also used as an ingredient in cooking and as part of meals and menus through food-alcohol pairings."While wine, beer and spirits have always been part of the culinary arts and restaurant menus, specialty alcohol is increasingly popular right now," said Dawn Sweeney, President and CEO of the Association. "As American diners are growing increasingly sophisticated, adult beverages can be an important part of both recipes and meals. Alcohol tasting menus, or flights, are served by more restaurants, and pairing beer and wine with complementary flavors on your plate can very much enhance the dining experien
  • Wis. man upset over beer shoots goats
What a wonderful world...Wis. man upset over beer shoots goats WAUPACA, Wis. - A man who was upset with his wife for not buying beer took vengeance by shooting the family's two pet goats, prosecutors say. Peter W. Mischler, 48, was charged this week in Circuit Court with mistreatment of animals, possession of a firearm while intoxicated and disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon. The complaint said Mischler came home Monday from hunting and became angry with his 22-year-old daughter for letting the goats out and making a mess. While she was talking on the phone to her mother, authorities said, he told her to tell his wife to bring home some beer, but his wife refused because she was already on her way home.He then threatened to shoot the goats, according to the complaint. After his wife arrived home, she and the daughter heard four gunshots."He shot both of them. He killed Flash, and the officer had to kill Chloe," the daughter, Megan Mischler, said in a phone interview Wednesday.

  • NZ student's cool idea puts end to warm beer
WELLINGTON (Reuters Life!) - Like nothing better than an ice-cold beer? How about one with dry ice? A New Zealand university student has invented a device that cools beverages in a matter of minutes, without diluting them with ice cubes, using a cooling cell that pressurises liquid carbon dioxide into small blocks of dry ice in just seconds. "Nobody enjoys a warm beer on a summer's day. So I thought that would be a good one to look into to see if I can solve that," Kent Hodgson, a 22-year-old industrial design student at Massey University, told Reuters on Monday. All the drinker then needs to do is place the rod-like cell, he named the Huski, like a straw into the beverage container. "Within five minutes, you've got a super cold one," Hodgson said. He said he was looking into patenting his invention and was also in talks with brewery companies on the possible commercialisation of his invention.

  • Beer cheaper than water – And that's a bad thing?
The UK’s Daily Mail, fast becoming The Shark Guys newspaper of choice in terms of rich source material, recently ran a lengthy double-byline investigative piece (full story here) into the rising trend of supermarkets selling their own brands of beer for less than their bottled water. This came hot on the high-heels of an earlier exposé into another alcoholic scourge: those midriff and visible panty-line revealing Facebook girls gone wild, (a story we covered here). The Daily Mail reports that supermarket chains Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda are selling their own brands of beer at 22p (US$0.46) a can, which is less per litre than it costs to buy the stores’ mineral water and cola, and, in what would seem to be pure hyperbole given the alcohol content of the beer is between 2 and 3 percent, “cheap enough to allow someone to get drunk for just £1” (more on how they sent a reporter out in order to prove that claim later).Competition between the three supermarket chains led to the

  • Buy Me A Beer
I'm sure that most of you have seen this WordPress plug in, on most WordPress built blogs. And those who are using the plug in, are also using this phrase: " If you like my post, buy me a beer. "Now, some of you may wonder what can this plug in do? Is it a way to get a beer from your visitors? Will visitors have to really give you something to drink? The answer: No, it isn't a way to actually make your visitors or readers to give you a beer, for real. It is a way to ask people to support your blog, by donating you a small amount of money. All blog owners ( almost all ) use a way to collect some donations from their readers and visitors. Every blogger thought at an unique and even funny way to do it. They aren't simply asking for a donation, by saying: " Hey, I just need you to donate me $100.. " This because no one will ever donate a single cent, if they see that the respective blogger is begging for money. Instead, they use either a simple " Donate " button from PayPal or they come up

  • All the beer you can drink! (Or so you'd think...)
It’s something that every blurry-eyed soak with the wherewithal to dream wishes for: the day somebody says he will pick up every bar tab that comes before him till the day he drops dead. Paying for one’s beer-guzzling habit is undoubtedly the least appealing aspect of heavy drinking (next to the dry heaves) and the wish to drink as much as possible on as little money as possible explains why when it comes to mass producing beer, there are no standards too low if a cheap price-tag can be slapped on at the end. (This fact also explains why people say they love their home-brewed beer even when they didn’t have a clue what they were doing when they made it and resent having to drink such cheap slop). Croucher Brewery Company in New Zealand recently drew international headlines and more free publicity than it could have hoped for* when it offered a “lifetime supply” of beer to the person who returned a laptop that someone had spirited off its premises (Full story here).
