Dass Mode und Kunst ständig miteinander liebäugeln ist nichts Neues. Daher ist es auch nicht erstaunlich, dass es im Rahmen der Berlin Fashion Week auch Kunst zu sehen gab. Neben den Project Gallery Showrooms und einer „fashionrelated exhibition“ auf dem Ideal Forum veranstaltete die Agentur V in Kooperation mit Wood Wood in der Pool Gallery – Tucholskystraße 38 - „Highmath“. Dort gibt es Arbeiten aus dem Projekt „Arkitip“ zu sehen. Dabei handelt es sich um ein limitiertes Kunstbuch, welches so genannte „ortsspezifische“ Arbeiten vereint. Initiator Scott Andrew Snyder bittet für jede Ausgabe, die jeweils ein anderes Format aufweist, Künstler, Arbeiten speziell für das Magazin zu erstellen. When the doors at the Ideal Fashion Show were opened darkness came over us ;-) I was lucky to find a seat in the first row. There was a strange construction with a podest and some machines looking like scanners. Definitely no ordinary fashion show to be expected. Romanian designer Olay Gyarfas (Rozalb de Mura is the brand's name) presented his autumn/winter 2008 collection as some kind of performance. I had the chance to see his designs the day before at the Ideal Showroom and was impressed. Mostly black, and clothes that can be worn in many different ways - you know I love that. Collars that can be added up via press buttons, fluffy down jackets, huge pants that can be made even huger by adding some more fabric with more press buttons. Sophisticated coolness apparently taken out of some stylish science fiction movie. I guess it's definitely worth at least a look, since I'm already planning my next Berlin trip for the end of september. I'm back from berlin ;-) It was fantastic but also very ex- hausting! I've seen a lot of things, met a lot of people and even brought work back home (I'll write an articel on bang! (the ideal art show) for modabot...).I have to admit that the img shows really weren't the most interessting part of berlin fashion week. Much more interessting were the little fashion shows by lesser known designers and the fashion fairs ideal and premium. Unfortunatly I missed a lot of interessting things, but well, simply too many things and simply not enough time.Mary and I attended the Vivienne Westwood Anglomania show (Vivienne didn't!) and took some pictures and made a little video. I'll upload it on youtube as soon as I wake up in a few hours. The 6 hours car ride back home was kind of stressfull... Berlin Fashion Week starts in a couple of days and I'm starting to plan my outfits.Today I stumbled upon a post susie did in her blog about the pvc leggins Kate Moss wore in Glastonbury. The pants she writes about are sold at browns and far too expensive not only in my opinion! Finally, I am all caught up on my blogging. There were several days where internet access was 24 Euros for 24 hours (about 30 US Dollars). BAAAAHHHH, that sucks; I do not want to pay that much. Right now we are in Berlin. It is about 10:00 p.m. local time and we are staying in the Berlin Hotel. The hotel is older, but it is one of the nicest, largest rooms we have stayed in so far.
I DROVE THE AUTOBAUN!!!! Shit, they drive fast on the highway. If you want to drive on the highway, you better drive fast, or get the hell out of the way. They are not screwing around here. The fastest I drove at any given time was 170 KM, which is about 105 miles per hour. I was intimidated by it all, but at the same time, it gave me quite a rush!
The roadway exits are called Ausfahrt. Eric and I have found these signs to be incredibly humorous and have not been able to stop laughing at them. The entrance for the hotel is called a Hotelinfahrt, which was equally as funny to us.
