Two new blogs have surfaced, adding unique perspectives to Cincinnati’s thriving independent media community: Just for View, and Fear and Blogging in Cincinnati. It will be noteworthy to observe which of these blogs will develop long-term staying power, carving out a niche not already serviced by other local blogospheric offerings.
The wine sulfites battle rages on.Some of you will recall that the Dude has been commenting on the topics of sulfites in wine, as well as biodynamic and organic wines.Jason Haas over at Tablas Creek Vineyard has posted a great article on how the widely misunderstood fear of wine sulfite allergies (& "wine headaches") has combined with overly-cautious (and poorly-constructed) U.S. wine regulations to cause winemakers unnecessary grief...What U.S. Sulfite / Organic Regulations Mean for WinemakersIn a nutshell, it seems that the U.S. regulations regarding sulfite use for wines that are to be labeled 'organic' have a big negative impact on potential quality of the wine. That's because some use of sulfites in higher quality wines is inevitable - otherwise the finished wine could be too unstable.According to the Guidelines for Labeling: Wine with Organic References from the U.S. Dept. of Treasury - Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms:SULFITE STATEMENT“100% Organic” products can
1. Ryan from Blogging4everyone dot Info was selecting Winning the Web to be the blog competition winner, that’s my choice too (it’s about a competition between two bloggers). Well, the winner did send me an email before and asked me to vote, but I’m too late to join. However, congratulation to the winner! At the same time, Ryan is sharing his experience on earning money from private ads, check them out.2. The author of curryegg.com has been selected to be the best 100 bloggers which is going to attend a voting event at Malaysia PWTC this weekend. I’m here wishing her all the best in advance. If you are free at that time, please remember to visit her and give her your support!3. After stopped searching for her lovely puppy, SlowCatchUpKuan is now focusing on posting some disclosure-policy-related posts in her blog. I’m here to say “good luck” to her and wish her happy always. (and all the best to puppy, mug mug)4. While Merdurian is sharing her opinion on how to choose an
A lot of readers of my books ask either for places to discuss European issues and/or for discussion forums to find out which are the current issues on Europe. Why do you need this kind of information?Because the future official should be able to understand and tackle complex issues from many different angles.Because the jury will often pose questions related to "hot" general issuesOne of the "hottest" places to participate in such discussion is the European blogosphere. The best articles and blogs I have recently discovered are:Blogs: Filling the EU's 'communication gap'? An Iranian student at a Canadian university has been accused by fellow bloggers of being a government agent and by the Iranian regime of being “the number one source of anti-Iran news from the Iranian blogosphere for the neo-con media.” Nonetheless, Arash Kamangir says he has no intention of stopping.
Things were trundling along quite nicely with the business of sponsored posts until a couple of weeks ago when google decided to pull the rug from under a promising cottage industry and downgrade the pagerank of thousands of blogs to zero.
Ordinarily, pagerank (the little green bar you see if you have the google toolbar loaded) [...]
Has there ever been a crazier few hours for Tigers fans than yesterday afternoon? The news first broke that the Tigers were in trade talks with the Marlins around 12:30 in the afternoon. I, as did most of us, spent the rest of the day refreshing our browsers, and vigilantly listening for any news on the radio and TV.Around 5 PM, the MSM was telling us that the talks with Detroit were just a Marlins ploy to force the Angels hand in trade talks. The Tigers supposedly didn't have the ammunition to compete with the Angels offer. It wasn't going to happen, and hopes were deflated. The news was just too good to be true.If you felt an earth tremor at 6:15 last night, that was the jaws of baseball fans hitting the floor all around the country, as Peter Gammons announced on Sportscenter that the Tigers and Marlins had agreed in principal in a BLOCKBUSTER trade. Detroit acquired Miggy Cabrera and the D-Train, Dontrelle Willis, from Florida, in return for 5 prospects, including super prospect And
This past Saturday, the HNIC crew covered both sides of the discussion surrounding hockey bloggers in the press box. The clip was around 8 minutes and 15 seconds in length, which you can view below.
Personally, I thought HNIC did a great job showing viewpoints from both sides. It was great to put some faces to [...]
After almost 4 months of blogging and some rigorous blog-surfing, I have managed to compile a set of blogging rules. These rules aren't compulsory, but if you try and stick to them, maybe you can prosper in this ever increasing blogosphere, with as many as 50,000+ blogs published per day(correct me) slug it out to become the best in terms of design, content, and most important of all, visitors. Well, enough of stats, let's get down to business.....The most important rule is to create original content. One must refrain from copying content from other sites, who knows, someone may catch you red handed.I came across this very recently. Whenever you write words in capital letters for your post titles, it implies that you are shouting that particular word. For instance, the post title below contains the word 'end' in caps, which means that I'm trying to shout or stress upon that particular word. When you want to show any expression, you write it, generally, within brackets; like raising hand
In getting my daily doze of news around blogosphere I have run more then once into posts that discuss one simple subject - Decluttering Your Blog. And while I agree with many statements I have certain reservation when it comes to the subject and more think about balance then purity.
And with many visible bloggers talking about it somehow I6 Zoom(s)
Hi ATOMIC fans.
Did you have a rockin' Halloween? My old lady and I just sat around watching some bad follow-ups to the original Halloween and handed out some candy. It was fun though.
Today I'd like to welcome John of the new IGUITARGOD to the guitar blogging neighborhood. So far John has some put up some links to cool guitar resources on the web. Check out IGUITARGOD.
...Today also begins the first day of Movember, yes Movember. So you might want to grow a mean handlebar stache and raise some money for charity. Besides being a guitarist, there's nothing the ladies love more than a man with a sick-nasty mo.
Hi ATOMIC fans.
Time for a little update on what's going down around the guitar blogosphere this week.
Nick has created a great 3-pentatonic-licks lesson over at his Guitritus.
Jon of Guitar Noize writes about the $23,000 PRS 10th Anniversary Private Stock Custom 22.
IG took some notes from a wild and crazy gig the other night.
JP at Strat-O-Blogster has been blogging it up Strato-style with new posts on recent inaugurations into the world-famous StratoBrothers.
Kyle at Guitar MX Blog posted about Metallica's acoustic/funk performance the other day.
The Mad Stratter now has his own merchandise line.
GL at Guitarz is standing up for the victims of domestic Strat abuse.
Robert at Building the Ergonomic Guitar reviewed the book Guitar Making: Tradition and Technology.
In what has turned into another apple love fest, just about everyone who could get their hands on a copy of Apple’s new OS, Leopard has been writing rave reviews, loving it to death, and generally finding nothing wrong, and wondering why Microsoft can’t do the same thing. In general, we are sure that the [...]

I especially appreciate it when a fellow financial blogger writes something nice about Stock Picks Bob's Advice! I realized that Dereck over at "The Best Stock Trading In The World" did exactly that!Dereck wrote:"Almost everywhere where I read about the stock market, I read analyses. I know that doesn’t sound too bad (as if I just led you on), but if such analyses were as useful as their prevalence would seem to indicate, why aren’t more people right? Granted, thus far, I’ve seen some pretty damned good ones. Bob’s stock picks is one I found recently. The guy is a bad ass. Smart and dedicated. Then too, I’ve seen some stinkers (I hope I don’t disappoint you but I won’t name them). Many analyses, or stock market perspectives generally, all seem to be solving the same math problem. But differently and sometimes badly."Well let me publicly thank you Dereck for your kind words! I hope that a few of my regular rea
As far as I know, the guitar blogosphere is very, very minuscule. Just recently I was able to find a list of "serious" guitar blogs run by cool guitarists/great guys, which ultimately led me to create an ATOMIC Friends blog roll on my sidebar of my front page.
Check these out.
Feel free to comment below if you have one.

Class, I've been back from rehab for FIVE days now, and every time I think about posting here, I find something else to do like trying to see if I can swallow a whole donut or something else equally retarded! Ya see, blog rehab changed me! I no longer have the compulsion to blog about blogging and be THE most blondalicious whip-cracking teacher of all time! This doesn't mean I plan to quit blogging. Oh no! Too many of you naughty students emailed me and begged me to return. And so here I am in full black leather regalia with Jimmy Choo stilettos ready to crack that whip and kick ass again! You can kiss my Choos if you wish....but only the heel. And no slobbering! So many things happened while I was gone. I missed out on Blog Rush which came and went as fast as OJ Simpson left Las Vegas....or so I read here and on other blogs. I wouldn't know as I was kept away from all things 'blog'. Tis true! Except for one time when I sneaked out to a computer, I was forced to shun all computers and e

One of the key benefits every organisation should consider when planning a corporate blogging initiative is how this could participate in its efforts to develop strong website awareness as well as build and sustain traffic. While there are many methods...
Introducing Cincy Report, a new blog from African American writer Ric Ricland. So far, Ricland has carved a niche for himself as one opposed to all things Nate Livingston. He says Over-the-Rhine is filled with a drug-abusing criminal element, or people who like living with such people and who therefore endorse it. He thinks we need a new jail, and he wonders why Mitt Romney dyes his hair.
In this post, Ricland claims that he has never met a single person from OTR who was not plugged into the criminal drug culture:
Again, calling the folk who live in OTR “poor” is a willful distortion of the fact, a distortion made to promote a political agenda. I lived in OTR for five years and never met one person living there who wasn’t a part of the drug-criminal culture.
One must wonder what Ricland was up to for those five years that he willfully lived with what he claims are nothing but a bunch of criminals!
Ricland goes on to accuse mothers from OTR as
This Friday is Racial Harmony Day. Just a few days ago, the sltopsites politics seem to be over. I would regard that as international internet politic. I thought that such things would not happen in Singapore. But I was wrong. I got a surprise last night.
Richard was going through his list of blogs at Singapore Topsites, waiting for approval. As he was going through the list, one blog which mention about XiaXue Vs Steven Lim caught his attention. We watched the interesting videos together.
XiaXue.blogspot had won the Best Asian Blog in 2004 and 2005, Best Singapore blog 2003. When I first started blogging, Richard asked me to take a look at his blog. He told me to look at how other people can be successful in their blogs. Well, I never want to be famous or be a celebrity. I never seek more wealth nor fame. I just need enough money sufficient for the family, the children’s education and emergency fund, don’t have to think of retirement income. I went to her blog
Beth at Blue Star Chronicles says: The Democrats Dog and Pony Surrender Show Accomplishes Nothing In spite of the best efforts of The Posturing Harry Reid (D-NV) and his Merry Men, the results of the Senate vote today were exactly the same as they were prior to the spend the night party last night.
Kate from An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings - Stopped…. although, it feels like I’m still moving. I hate that sensation. I think 8 hours of driving is long enough for an ol’ broad, don’t you? If I start getting punchy, no one on the road is going to be safe.
Gunz at Long Live the Republic has a ‘Caption This’ up, it really is hilarious…
Pen and Sword presents many of the same points to ponder that I do, he just leans a bit left and I lean a bit right… Jeff Huber is one hell of a writer, he’s a retired Navy Commander, I respect his outlook, even if we do differ occasionally…
And Scottish Right has a good story up, Barack Obama Is Wrong About Sex
Some of the most popular websites online today have to do with meeting friends and renewing old relationships – but what are social networking websites really about? Especially blog communities. I have started blogging 4 months ago and I find myself joining these blog communities. These networks primary focus is a means of gathering like-minded individuals in one central location and providing opportunities for them to interact.
Is it to increase traffic? Meet new people? Network with ease? These are the typical marketing questions. I join them because of that and I join to meet new people and easily find the information that I need.
Recently I joined a new social blog community called Bumpzee. They say they are very different from other blog communities and social networks in general. Since I joined I can say it is a bit different but all similar all the same. Now I am part of 3 blog communities.

Josh Bernoff, an analyst with Forrester Research, reports that Sony Electronics, one of Sony’s core businesses, joined their sister company PlayStation on the blogosphere yesterday. This is the second blog in the past month that Sony has launched.

Why do you leave comments on a blog? Do you do it because you disagree with the authors post? Maybe, because you agree with the post? What about maybe just leaving a thank you remark on the page? Whatever it is comments in the blogosphere is important. It opens discussions to everyone that want to agree or disagree with your topic.
But there are some professional bloggers that do not allow any type of comments on their pages. A good example is Steve Pavlina. He has a great blog about self development and improvement, but does not allow room for discussion. Though his blog is successful, he does not find the need to open his comments section for input.
I find that comments are part of what we now call the internet, Web 2.0. It is the start of a beautiful friendship bond with the reader, depending on the comment ofcourse. But in either case you and the commenter (reader/blogger) start to have a bond right from the start. Forming a relationship is what Web 2.0 is all about, sharing ideas
Yes, finally a service that you can pay some human to spam to other blogs sites, isn’t this great! You now do not have to sit in front of your computer spamming other blogs! You can visit their webpage here: BuyBlogComments.com. STOP!
This must have been the worst idea or concept ever! I thought merging into the world of web 2.0 we are becoming more social not spammers. Within the blogosphere there is an abundant of information ranging from cell phones to creating the perfect website, we gather information to help each other and speak about these issues.
The comment section for each blog is meant to create a discussion among peers, not so you can build SEO. Also this is a very cheap way of increasing your SEO rank.

Kicking off the round-up is Cheri Horton, who's quest for sex finally ends in her losing her virtual virginity.Torley Linden (I'm still getting used to that) briefly reflects on the past visual updates to Second Life and how the sun sucks compared to the rippled water effect (I whole heartedly agree, the water puts the sun to shame). The Second Life Herald has an interview up with Second Life renegade TrannyPet Barmy, who plans on releasing his own version of Second Life for free download soon, challenging the very ideals of Linden Labs.Hamlet Linden, of New World Notes, reports what Lawerence Lessig did after his lecture, attending a merry jig in the trees of ElvenGlen. While Pham Neutra, of SLOG, notes how Second Life is not only growing in size, but also in depth. So, a nice little bit to be reading there, although I've noticed lately that the Second Life blogosphere isn't as active as it could be. Sure, there are sites out there but it's finding them that's the problem, and whe
