I think Montel Williams is such an amazing person. I really admire him so much. I admire the topics he talks about on his show. He has discussions about subjects like the war, election, issues, that everyone else ignores but he talk about. I like that he does that it is a great thing. The sad thing is according to reports his TV show after 17 Years has been canceled after this season. I think that is sad it will be a very missed show by many who watch it. What he has done for Multiple Sclerosis and with his MS Foundations it makes him a hero in that fight. Along with that he has done many other things to raise money for important issues. His new book lately is going to help so many people called Living Well: 21 Days to Transform Your Life, Supercharge Your Health, and Feel Spectacular - Montel Williams Books - Jenny McCarthy Person of the Month
I've fallen a lot behind with my reviews, so I refuse to spend a lot of time writting about C books. So here we go, a quick round-up.TITLE:The Lightkeeper's WomanAUTHOR: Mary BurtonThis Harlequin Historical has a unique setting and the storyline intrigued me (plus that cover... ohhhh!). It's set in an isolated lighthouse off a small North Carolina fishing village in the late 19th century, and it's a reunion story. A few years earlier Alanna, the daughter of a shipping magnate, had fallen in love with Caleb, one of her father's ship captains. Evil dad engineered a separation in such a way that each believes the other one comitted a huge betrayal. But now they meet when Alanna seeks him out in the lighthouse he's taken over, determined to give him a box left to him by her father (yeah, very flimsy reason). Isolated surroundings, forced proximity (there's a huge storm), you can guess what happens. It could have been a nice story, but though I loved the atmospheric setting, I found it hard
- Spreading the Word About Books Worth ReadingA World Book Day poll today reveals the top ten contemporary novels with genuine word-of-mouth appeal in a search to find the best book to talk about. Since the campaign was launched last November, over 3,000 book lovers have discussed and debated online the "talkability" merits of a list of 100 titles, including several hidden gems. World Book Day's shortlist - which includes seven first novels - reveals the qualities of what really makes a discussion-worthy book in contemporary Britain: serious issues, character-led drama, and often a splash of humour.Judging by the books featured on the Books to Talk About shortlist, readers relish hard-hitting themes and challenging plots. Moreover, the strong showing of the independent publishing sector on the list confirms that it is currently in excellent health.Ideal for reading groups, the ten Books to Talk About are:- Steve Aylett, Lint (SnowBooks)- Priya Basil, Ishq & Mushq (Transworld)- Jenny Do

Freebase is an interesting project, they accept data sets and then provide a platform to access them. Something like the Talis platform? They have a section for books and have a schema for book information. I'm not sure of the mechanics behind it all. I'd guess RDF would make the cross data set links easier. Here is an example of bibliographic data being just one type of data in a much larger system with connecitons to other data sets. Interesting.Freebase is an open database of the world’s information. No matter what people say, there’s nothing more important than money.
Money makes the world go round. It is what powers the Internet and drives your car. It is what puts on your plate and police on your streets. It is the reason we go to work and it is often the source of most arguments. [...]
I love when people basically say "I have no idea what you want, so let's go to the book store and you have a budget". So it was that over the weekend I had a good $60 to spend on books at Borders. (Yes, I realize my financial situation isn't all the happy at the moment, but quite honestly, it's not my money I was spending and my Grandma under no circumstance would let me not have something nice for Christmas because, well, she's my Grandma and trying to tell her "I'd rather use it to pay for something not so fun" is like saying I'd rather have a vaccine shot for rabies). In any case, I was at Borders perusing the books looking for some titles I had really hoped to get to read in 07 when I started to notice something that just really irritates me. I hate going into a bookstore that carries nothing but new books to find that some of the books are actually in really shoddy condition. What makes it worse is when you find a book you really wanted to read (say, Endgame by Kristin Smith
Debates over file-sharing follow the same right and wrong argument. Downloading comic books, I feel, adds a different layer to the debate. Music companies argue they lose money because people download songs for free, which has been to be found untrue. Movie companies think people stop going to the theaters. Comic book companies have remain5 Zoom(s)
Stripped to the essentials, it's just a throw and a catch.
But toss in a handful of large, angry pass-rushing Giants planning to hold a reunion on Tom Brady's chest, then sprinkle in a dose of defensive backs and the occasional linebacker trying to glue themselves to Randy Moss, and the hookup begins to approach the complexity of a military operation.
Even so, nobody has done it better. The

THE YEAR 2007 marks the 65th anniversary of a bold experiment: the launch of the Little Golden Books during the dark days of World War II. At a time when the literacy rate was not nearly as high as it is now - and privation was felt by nearly all - quality books for children would now be available at a price nearly everyone could afford (25 cents), and sold where ordinary people shopped. Golden Legacy is a lively history of a company, a line of books, the groundbreaking writers and artists who created them, the clever mavericks who marketed and sold them, and the cultural landscape that surrounded them. Wouldn't it be great to be paid more than $1000 just to read books? This is really enjoyable way to earn six figure income, by just reading those books that hasn't been published yet. Sue Gilad had already explained on ABC News about how to make money by reading books. This great way to make money is called proofreading Books or paid to proofread. As far as my search and experience is concerned, I guess Proofreading Book is the most flexible job to do. Isn't it great way to make money to work from anywhere in the world, and at anytime? As a Freelancer of Proofreading Book you would have complete flexibility to do everything you want to do and whenever you want to do, and of course still be paid with six figure amount. Task is SIMPLY READING BOOKS! Many people had already been paid for books like The Da Vinci Code, Sugar Busters, When Your Kids Push Your Buttons and Sex for the Clueless? Fascinating aspect about this job is you would be reading boo

I owe my love for books to my father. When I was very young, he used to take me to the Karachi Club Library, and borrow books for kids. I started wearing spectacles when I was 3, and looked like a girl acting like a teacher with my specs perched on my nose, and books in my hands. As far as I can remember, my first good book was Matilda, and I used to read Sweet Valley twins, Stephanie from Full House. I still remember the hushed environment of the library, rustling of papers, shuffling of books, and the smell of books. In the library, I discovered new worlds, new people and their adventures and learnt about life. Due to the fact that my father was a member of the club, I never had to purchase books. There was a time, however, when I used to dream of having my own collection of books, arranged on shelves, and converting my bedroom into a library.I still value books a great deal, and always have a book to read, but I don't believe in collecting them. I would rather share a good book, the
Following on from my last posting on the definition of e-books, and the appropriateness of my term ‘book-like’, I was struck by a sentence in an article by Kathleen Fitzpatrick: New (Social) Structures for New (Networked) Texts. She wrote, [Peter] Stallybrass notes the irony in digital textuality’s regression from the kinds of manipulation that the codex made possible, reimposing the limitations of the scroll on our reading practices. It is not the first time that I have noted that so-called added-value features, much-vaunted by publishers, struggle to maintain the functionality of print-on-paper books. The 600-year old book model has served us very well, but that does not mean that its look-and-feel should be replicated in some way on the screen: this simply leads to something that is neither fish nor fowl. The model may be so familiar that we do not need instructions in its use, but copy that model to the screen and – instantly – the visual clues and automatic responses ar
