  • Canada to talk to France about Afghan troops - TV
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Senior Canadian officials will soon fly to Paris to negotiate the transfer of 700 French troops to southern Afghanistan, where Canada's military mission is based, CTV television said on Thursday. Canada says it will pull its 2,500 soldiers from the southern Afghan city of Kandahar on schedule next February unless NATO dispatches an extra 1,000 troops to the region. CTV said Canada would talk to France about providing a 700-soldier battle group. It gave no further details. Prime Minister Stephen Harper has called several NATO leaders in recent days -- including French President Nicolas Sarkozy -- to stress that other alliance members must do more to help Canada. "It should come as no surprise that officials are also following up on these discussions ... and we expect there to be more follow-up meetings to take place," said a Harper spokeswoman, but declined to give more details. Earlier in the day, France told a meeting of NATO defense ministers in

  • Thai Restaurant in Toronto Canada
Bangkok Garden Restaurant Bangkok Garden was one of the first restaurants to bring traditional Thai cuisine and culture to Toronto over 24 years ago, and is acclaimed as one of North America’s premier Thai restaurants. The food is authentic, based on the Thai principle of balancing the five tastes: sweet, hot, sour, salty and bitter. Seafood, silky rich curries, and exotic soups, to barbecued and fiery-to-not-so fiery stir-fried dishes offer an approach to Thai cuisine found nowhere else in Canada.Fresh coriander leaf and root, lemon grass, the fresh leaf and peel of the kaffir lime, kha root (a cousin of ginger with a milder bouquet) and the hottest chillies in the world make Thai dining a unique experience. To ensure that our food tastes just right, essential ingredients are delivered fresh from Bangkok. Lunch features a buffet, allowing our guests the option of sampling a wide variety of dishes, or choices from the à la carte menu.A large selection of international bee

  • Taser Death Parody Video Outrages Canada - SendMeRSS
Taser Death Parody Video Outrages Canada A recent Mega Man ROM hack video recreating the death of Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski has outraged Canadian officials. Mr. Dziekanski was recently held by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the Vancouver, BC airport where he was tasered and eventually died. The video, entitled Mega Man vs Polish Immigrant, depicts Mega Man running through a Vancouver, BC-themed airport level before zapping a sprite of former-end-boss Dr. Wily made up to resemble Mr. Dziekanski. Unsurprisingly, the video has created quite a bit of controversy. Officials from the Canadian Polish Congress have condemned the video as "disrespectful to the victim, his family and the Polish community." Similarly, RCMP Staff Sargent John Ward stated, "Any right-thinking person who would look at the video would be offended by that. A gentlemen lost his life and it is in extremely poor taste." According to Mike Greenway, the video's creator, the clip wa

  • Nikon Canada directive hints at anticipated high demand for D3
A directive sent by Nikon Canada to dealers last week suggests that demand for the D3 will be sky high when it ships starting on November 30 to Canadian dealers, and that special measures are being taken to ensure the camera - as well as the newest Nikkor lenses - make it into the hands of working photographers. These measures include requiring a prospective purchaser to complete a "Customer Certification Form" in which they must indicate which photography segment they work in and provide reasons as to why they should receive "Priority Fulfillment." The photographer must also agree that the D3 is for their own use in Canada, that they don't intend to resell it (presumably to help limit the number of brand-new bodies being listed on eBay and the like) and that they don't have the camera on order at multiple dealers. more : robgalbraith
  • Wake-up Call for Canada
I ‘virtually’ met Saul about a year ago. The fifty-something Israeli comes from a family that is very politically aware and, with relatives scattered throughout the globe in places like Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and the Far East, has been able to formulate a very unique and distinct view of the world. We have been engaged in email ping pong ever since he happened upon my blog and sent me a comment, and our discussions have run the gamut from his Homeland to the War on Terror to international trade. A wise and most certainly knowledgeable man, he possesses the ability to nail home a point. Such was the case when the topic was the Canadian people and their attitude towards terrorism. Even a proponent of my nation’s involvement in Afghanistan such as me was surprised when told that Canada is considered to be ‘naïve’ on the world scene. “The people who know Canada, who know modern Canadian culture and the trends of your country’s society, are beginning to shake their h
  • Canada plans copyright reform
The Canadian government looks set to bring forward "copyright protection" measures in the next few weeks designed to try and shore up unsustainable business models. The Industry Canada spokesperson outlined the intentions:"Canada's Copyright Act needs to be reformed to respond to the challenges of the digital age," said [Caroline Grondin]. "New protections proposed for the benefit of rights holders will seek to address online infringement as well as create a legal framework that encourages the rollout, by rights holders, of new business models."You might wonder why copyright protection should be in the realm of the industry ministry rather than the department which deals with culture; you might also spot that Grondin talks about rights holders and business models rather than artists and art.The RIAA client organistaion north of the border at least remembers to pay lip service to the people who actually make the music:Graham Henderson, president of labels body the Canadian Recording Indu

We do not have mortgage insurance - becuase it is a waste of money. It is expensive. A few quotes on life insurance rates will show people that they can obtain life insurance for much less than mortgage insurance. The important aspect of life insurance is education. • Cautions regarding credit counseling (Canada)
The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) advises Canadians to do their homework about credit counseling services before entering into an agreement. According to the Agency, consumers should shop around and compare services of credit counseling bodies and take note of the different fee structures of for-profit and not-for-profit credit counseling, as well as what services are offered for those fees. Consumers considering entering into a DMP should also be aware that an R7 credit rating will be entered in their credit report and that their credit report will show that they used credit counseling, a notation that will remain on the report for at least two to three years. Prospective lenders, employers and landlords may view information in an individual's credit report, if the application forms consumers sign grant them permission to do so.source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_counseling
