  • India's coffee exports seen flat, revenues up
By Biman Mukherji and Sambit Mohanty BANGALORE (Reuters) - India's coffee exports in 2008 are likely to remain close to last year's 200,000 tonnes, but producers are going to reap a rich haul from a jump in global prices, a senior industry official said. India's coffee exports fell 11 percent in 2007 to 223,565 tonnes. The country produces only 4.5 percent of the world's coffee, but exports 70-80 percent of its output. "Now coffee prices are very high and it is very profitable for the producers," Anil Mishra, India manager for Switzerland-based ECOM Gill Coffee Trading Pvt Ltd, told Reuters at the weekend. "The good thing is that it has come at a time when Indian coffee is just getting harvested." Mishra said he expects exports to be largely flat from the year-ago figure. Robusta Coffee futures are hovering near 10-1/2 year highs and prices have risen by 30 percent from early December, boosted by the flood of fund money diverted from struggling globa

  • Five People I Want to Meet For Coffee in 2008
I got to thinking the other day about people in the wireless industry that I'd like to share a table with at Starbucks and just gab.No time constraints. Just hot coffee and conversation without clock-watching.It took me a while to develop my list, but I think I've got it narrowed down. And here they are, listed in no particular order:1). Upkar DhaliwalI mean, c'mon, anybody that runs a company called Future Wireless Technologies is somebody I want to meet.Upkar is an industry expert on WiMAX, UMTS, EGPRS and CDMA2000 Radio Specifications, RF System Designs and Verification and RF/System Integration (that's a mouthful). And, he's got over 10 years of Wireless Chipset development experience from 2G towards 5G.He's spent time at Marconi, Qualcomm, Samsung, and STMicroelectronics, prior to doing his own thing at FWT.Something makes me think this Upkar doesn't get much sleep, and I'd bet it's completely unrelated to caffeine.2.) • 'Hot Coffee' Class Action Settled, $35 Rewarded For Outrage - SendMeRSS
'Hot Coffee' Class Action Settled, $35 Rewarded For Outrage The class action suit against Rockstar Games for the part they played in the infamous "Hot Coffee" scandal has finally been resolved, granting all US citizens who were offended by the event up to $35. In case you forgot, the entire "Hot Coffee" scandal was the result of some code left in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that allowed players (through the use of a simple, widely available hack) to "have sex" with other characters in the game (see right). Rockstar denied culpability, but were still taken to court over the issue. To be eligible for monetary compensation for any outrage they may have felt over the incident, claimants must be able to verify their purchase of the game and submit their notice by May 16. In addition to the monetary rewards, the court has also made available updated copies of San Andreas which do not contain the offending code. As per usual with these type of settlements, th

  • Best of coffee prince
i have just recently signed up to youtube, crunchyroll, dailymotion, oh well, i am a member of veoh since early 2007 because they had that video about the amezcua biodisc. But anyway, the reason why i signed up for youtube, crunchyroll and dailymotion was because they have a lot of videos about coffee prince. I'd say so far that crunchyroll has the nicest and concise of them all although not all eps are uploaded yet, but it is orderly arranged by episodes so you'll know your way around if you want to watch it in order, thanks to oreocookie1169 from crunchyroll who uploaded all 6 eps ( hopefully the remaining 9 eps will be uploaded SOON. lol )as you can see on my other post, i've included a picture of Eun Chan and Han Kyul kissing, it was actually one of the episodes I liked the most. just one of them. there are other very Kilig scenes i have liked as well, but those are not in youtube or even crunchyroll, as these scenes belong to different episodes. but then I found something on crun

So, what's the big news this morning, Gordon Smart?Apparently, it's that Olga Kurylenko is going to be a Bond girl.Yes, yes: that was news back on Monday, but Gordon has something to add to the story.Sadly, that something is his libido:Olga would definitely be the first I’d like to shake and, well, you know the saying.Eh? Gordon thinks sex is like stirring? Does he have one of the those Starbucks sticks rather than a penis? It also appears Smart has trouble telling the difference between 'made-up' and 'real':In Le Serpent she played a model who gets all tied up in her work — in bondage gear. A film about to become a lot more popular than when it was first released.Olga later admitted she found the whole experience of being tied up “beautiful”.Better looking and more mental than ANGELINA JOLIE in the sack? Brilliant. Let's not even bother ourselves with Gordon's suggestion that enjoying a spot of S&M is "mental", confusing consensual sexual activity with mental health, and just p

One of the most fascinating murals (or even paintings for that matter) I have ever seen can be found in my home town of Gawler, South Australila. Even more fascinating than the worlds biggest painting on canvas at Broken Hill in fact.Rylars Art Coffee Lounge is home to one of the most detailed murals you're ever likely to find. The thumbnails above from the Coffee Lounges web site just doesn't do it justice. Not least because you can barely make out the detail but also because this mural circles the walls of the entire dining area. These images wouldn't even be 1% of the total mural.Mostly black and white, the mural is still a work in progress even after three years. The best way to describe it is simply by quoting from Rylar's web site:The artistic wizardry invoked within these walls is the culmination of a three year sojourn of indulgence and passion. This amazing work of art exemplifies an eclectic fusion of surrealism with medieval art, exercising an ability for intrinsic fine det

  • Monkey business yields coffee
Coffee connoisseurs are going ape for a rare brew that Taiwanese farmers are producing with the help of monkeys. Formosan rock monkeys have long been a scourge to coffee farmers in Taiwan's mountains because they eat the ripe berries and spit out the seeds. But now, the farmers are collecting these half-chewed seeds and roasting them to produce a coffee that is being brewed all over the island. Coffee farmer Liao Jingdong tried to roast beans which had been spat out by monkeys and discovered a unique taste, different from the original. Liao says the discarded seeds yield a sweeter coffee with a vanilla-like scent, which sells for about $56 a pound (450 grams).   FOR MORE VISIT  DESI FUNDOO... So sorry that we haven't blogged in a while but we were away in San Francisco for the Nike Women's Marathon. Right after the marathon was over, we started our eating marathon. More to come later (Lon and I will put it together this weekend) but just a little bit since you've been waiting...San Francisco is proud of their coffee. The two places that several people recommended were Philz Coffee Philz Coffee - Castro and Blue Bottle Coffee Co. Blue Bottle Coffee. Both had great staff who were proud of their product. Both made each cup to order individually. Even though we went to Philz's newest location, Blue Bottle looks cooler: just a counter behind a garage door with no seats but a small ledge where three people could place cups. But in terms of coffee, Philz wins by a landslide. I had their Tesora (house blend), which was absolutely delicious. The barista asks you how you want it and makes it for you with brown sugar and cream.I have never tasted a more perfect coffee than Philz's and
