Sunderland midfielder Dwight Yorke staked his claim for a return to the first team by playing more than 80 minutes for the reserves last night. The 36-year-old, who damaged a calf muscle during the 2-0 Barclays Premier League win over Birmingham on January 29, was part of an inexperienced second-string team which went down 1-0 to Liverpool at Wigan. Roy Keane's side has no game this weekend following their third-round exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Wigan, over whom they gained revenge with a 2-0 league win at the Stadium of Light on Saturday. They resume at Portsmouth on February 23, where Yorke will hope to figure as the Black Cats attempt to take another step towards top-flight safety. There were 90-minute run-outs last night for full-back Ian Harte and striker Anthony Stokes, although not for Andy Reid, Grant Leadbitter, Kieran Richardson, Carlos Edwards or Danny Higginbotham, who are all at different stages in their respective comebacks from injury.

Michael Jackson has something of a problem. Since all he's done in the last, ooh, twenty years is get accused of being too close to young boys, promise benefit records that never materialise, gone to court more times than Virgina Wade and run out of cash, he needs to re-establish himself in the world's hearts. He's decided the best way to do this - not to mention the laziest way - is to rework a track from back when the world used to treat him with respect. Rather than as the punchline to a "nose falling off" gag.So he's reworked a song from Thriller. Unfortunately, he's chosen to rerecord The Girl Is Mine, the clunkiest, biggest stinker on that album. Yes, The Girl Is Mine. Only with Will.I.Am in the Paul McCartney role. This is going to be followed by a whole album, comprising of remixes of Thriller. Remixed by the likes of Akon - a young man following the footsteps of Jackson, of course. With the embarrassing sexual misunderstandings involving children. So, Jackson is taking his one, u
I've been watching the polls for the last hour, and it looks like Clinton could maintain her 4 or 5% lead. That would be huge for her campaign. HUGE. Political Realm, really my source for campaign news (other than the mainstream media), predicted Obama winning by 12%, and I had Obama winning as well. Probably most pundits too. It would be an incredible boost to her campaign.
WHITNEY'S COMEBACK!! Some good news for a change about Whitney Houston. She made a tremendous comeback last Saturday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, performing several of her hits as if little time had passed. Were we worried that drugs and alcohol had killed her voice? Yes, indeed. But video and audio from the concert, thanks to fans at the Live & Loud KL 07 show who posted on YouTube, reveal a cheery-looking, healthy Whitney hitting high notes and striking the right chord every time. Rumor has it that she will also sing in the Grammy?s with a duet with Alicia keys. Hopefully see will come back stronger then every. How refreshing to think that 2008 will be the year that the best singer of her generation will make a sterling comeback after a decade in the wilderness. Whitney Houston is definitely considered by many to be one of the most talented Diva's ever. Unfortunately since her marriage to "Bobby Brown" her career has almost seemed

There's been a lot of excitement over Jermaine Jackson's suggestion to 6Music that there might be a new Jacksons tour. DigitalSpy went with this headline: Jermaine confirms Jackson 5 reunionReally? What did he say?"Michael will be involved. We want to tour. We want to touch the lives of everybody who’s bought our records and supported us."It will probably start [in America] first, but it will be sometime in 2008. That’s our plan.”So, that would be more "Jermaine suggests possible Jacksons reunion, maybe", surely? It's not clear who the tour will actually be touching: those who bought the records are now grown up and have children of their own, so they'll be reluctant to turn up for Michael; there would certainly be that hardcore of Jackson fans in attendance - at last, a way of Michael to shake 'em down for some cash after constantly having to turn up for PAs outside courtrooms for free. But do the rest of the boys really want to turn up to effectively stand in the shadows of the
Who needs Juan Pablo Angel? The New York Red Bulls striker was said to be desperately needed by his country as Colombia was having problems scoring goals (two in three games going into last night's encounter at the Nemesio Camacho). But Angel was unavailable due to the knock he picked up in Red Bulls' season-ending loss to New England. No Angel, no problem. Lionel Messi put the guests up 37 minutes in but Ruben Bustos and Dayro Moreno added second half goals for the cafeteros. Carlos Tevez was sent off after 25 minutes for kicking Bustos, an event that apparently galvanized the Argentines more than the Colombians, according to ESPNSoccernet's report of the game (and supported by the fact that they took the lead 12 minutes later). So who are these guys that scored for Colombia? Bustos is a 26 year old defender, so forget about him for a second, but Moreno is a 22 year old forward who was playing in only his fourth international game. He currently plays for Brazilian side Atletico Paranaen
Amid all the hullabaloo over Bruce Arena's resignation/dismissal, it was easy to miss a pair of individual player awards MLS handed out yesterday. New England's Michael Parkhurst was named MLS Defender of the Year (there is some corporate sponsorship attached to all of these awards but I'm not going to bother with that. Maybe if Visa pays me to I will) and Kansas City's Eddie Johnson won the Comeback Player of the Year accolade. The league's choices are consistent with those of MLS fans, as gauged by polls taken on this Web site. Parkhurst received 66% of votes, significantly more than the other nominees (Chivas' Claudio Suarez received 22% and Houston's Eddie Robinson 11%). Johnson (44%) edged Frankie Hejduk (38%), with Pat Noonan a more distant third (16%) in the comeback player category. There was a third award handed out yesterday, for MLS Referee of the Year. That went to Brian Hall. Asked for their opinion on this category in the days leading up to MLS' announcement, 95% of respond
Major League Soccer is due to announce the Defender and Comeback Player of the Year award winners today. Soccer Source has been holding its own reader poll on these and other (indeed, all) individual player awards. We even include one for the best referee, a topic readers unequivocally could care less about; 94% of votes in that category went to "who cares? They all suck" instead of to one of the refs who were nominated. But on to the awards readers might actually care about: New England's Michael Parkhurst is leading the Defender of the Year category with 62% of votes, followed by Chivas' Claudio Suarez (25%) and Houston's Eddie Robinson (12%). In the Comeback Player of the Year category, Colombus' Frankie Hejduk and Kansas City's Eddie Johnson are neck-and-neck with New England's Pat Noonan a more distant third, but still within striking distance. A little over four hours remain until polls close.Coach of the Year and Rookie of the Year will be announced Wednesday, with Soccer Source'
Looks like finally got his house back in order at least...From the Politico:McCain is bouncing back"Republican presidential hopeful John McCain is back, two months after he was given up for dead....How?McCain was helped by progress in Iraq and a strong showing in a recent New Hampshire debate. Also, the John McCain of old is back, saying what he means and letting the chips fall where they may. He is much more comfortable campaigning as an insurgent than as an insider.McCain returned to South Carolina — drawing large crowds — with his unique brand of straight talk coupled with unwavering conviction for causes he believes are in the nation’s best interest.“What we are seeing is a genuine John McCain on the stump,” said U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, a longtime McCain supporter."If McCain can keep his ducks in a row and stick and stick to being McCain the maverick rather than McCain the carefully coached political pro he may be able to make a decent run given the bas
Harvey Goldsmith's single-minded pursuit of touts has caused a massive screw-up in the Led Zep ticketing process. In order to try and stop touts selling tickets on eBay, Goldsmith and his team decided that you'd have to have tickets with names on that matched the credit card that bought them.In itself, this is over-prescriptive. Want to buy the tickets as a surprise anniversary gift for your parents? Buying them to pay your mate back for the time he stuck your football tickets on his Visa? Got a friend flying in from overseas who only has Discover card, so you bought on their behalf? Kept your credit card in your maiden name but ordered in your married name? Sorry, you're out of luck. What makes it worse is they forgot to mention this rather important rule in the terms and conditions when the tickets initially went on sale.Goldsmith, of course, is so besotted with his anti-touting plans he can't see the problem, and defends it on his blog:I am fully aware that there seems to be concerns

Our favorite baldish alien and mother of two, Britney Spears is reportedly moving full-speed again with her “comeback” (I know, I can’t say that with a straight face either).MTV News provides the quotage from “Get Back” producer Nate Hills that confirms that the weird clips floating around the internet are, in fact, REAL:
It’s weird! It’s catchy, but its weird. It’s hot!
Nice save on the ‘hot’ by the way. And yes, that bundle of Atari knock-offs is a tad bit weird. Catchy? We’ll get back to you on that…

I still remember being alive in the 80s, looking back on photos, there is one thing that really stands out...the apparel. It is hard to miss pictures of parents and relatives alike donning oversize sweaters, leggings, and cropped pants and as an in style child, I seemed to comply with all of the trends. And, the magazines are already forecasting the popularity of the 80s comeback. Finally, 80s fashion is back again... Leggings, off-the shoulder jumpers, skinny jeans, high-waisted skirts, high-waisted pants, high-waisted dress, drop-waisted blouse, belted jumper dresses, miniskirts, off-the-shoulder tops, cropped pants, dungarees and lots more - the 1980's fashion trends are now considered as latest teenager trend and are what every woman loves to wear. Wide belts too are a good idea. And, here are some of my favourite collection of 80s style.

news from (http://www.next-gen.biz)"All the production problems have been solved. We are making a comeback already,” Stringer said in an associated press report. He reiterated that the PS3 is going to play a major role in Sony’s overall financial s, calling the console “a key driver” for growth.Sony's meeting was reportedly upbeat, with talk of recovery in games and big strides in flat-panel TV and digital camera sales. But shareholders remain cautious. Shareholder Kazuhiko Machida, for instance, is particularly aware of Sony’s PS3 missteps."It's hard to think that Sony has solved all its problems," he said. "The Sony brand has taken a beating. I think Sony may be at a crossroads, but it's too early to say 'Banzai!'”But Stringer still has an immense amount of faith in Sony’s games business. Earlier today, Sony Computer Entertainment boss Kaz Hirai said that 380 games would be hitting PS3 this year."We believe that the PS3 going forward will be vital to our future, and succ
