Communication

  • What is Effective Communication??
Jack and Max are walking from religious service. Jack wonders whether itwould be all right to smoke while praying. Max replies, "Why don't you ask the Priest?" So Jack goes up to the Priest and asks, "Priest, may I smoke while I pray?" But the Priest says, "No, my son, you may not. That's utter disrespect toour religion." Jack goes back to his friend and tells him what the good Priest told him. Max says, "I'm not surprised. You asked the wrong question. Let me try." And so Max goes up to the Priest and asks, "Priest, may I Pray while Ismoke?" To which the Priest eagerly replies, "By all means, my son. By all means." Moral : Frame ur question the way you want ur answer.

  • Why men can’t lie to women in face-to-face communication
Ever wondered why you catch your man when he lies to you? Well, that’s because you have superior sensory equipment.   According to self-help authors and body language experts Allan and Barbara Pease, men and women think differently and have different behaviours.   The body language research of humans reveals, that in face-to-face communications, non-verbal signals account for around 60 per cent of the impact of the message, while vocal sounds make up around 30 per cent. The other ten per cent or so is words, said the authors.   While communicating, a woman's superior sensory equipment picks the information and analyses it, reports The Daily Telegraph.   Her brain's ability to transfer rapidly between hemispheres makes her more proficient at integrating and deciphering verbal, visual and other signals.   That is why, most men have difficulty successfully lying to a woman face-to-face.   But, lying to a man face-to-face is comparatively easy, as he

Mobile phone says, "I love you and I want you.Mobile phone is not the only Valentines Day gift you should give her. If your lover is a chocolate fiend then you better get her some fancy chocolates too - and flowers are never a waste, but opt for two or three smaller boquets around the room instead of one big overbearing grouping. Choose different types of flowers - daisies, wild flowers, carnations - with maybe one rose tied with a ribbon. The rose will be romantic and the hardier flowers will last longer. • MicroMedia Communication:
The ongoing technological evolution has made the devices and gadgets that we use smaller and faster. It is more convenient to use a cell phone for getting business done than using a computer.Newspapers and magazines too have prefixed an ‘e’ and gone on to make communication of information even more rapidly available. Information that is concise and to the point is now available in the little device nestling in your pocket. So blogs have transformed into mobile blogs or moblogs and short message services have given way to micromessaging services like Pownce and Twitter. MicroMedia has entered the information by lane.MicroMedia makes it possible to keep in touch with business clients, associates and employees on a social platform. The result is an informal and affordable way to stay in touch.Online marketers can use this new type of communication to accelerate growth for a business while nurturing business to client and business to business relationships in the long run. • Communication Via New Media:
The truth is out there, within reach. The question is how we reach it. The new media has got some really interesting tools to come within grasp of the truth. Armed with ammunition like podcasts, blogs, virtual universes, social networks, cell phones, video games and more, the new media has launched an intense campaign to conquer our lives. But the average consumer is not complaining at this intrusion. Education and communication of information has never been more fun with the new media way of interaction. Joe Kraus, the founder of JotSpot, a software producer for wikis comments, “The old media model was: there is one source of truth. The new media model is: there are multiple sources of truth, and we will sort it out”.With the concept of Instant Journalism, conveying news does not require the talents of a news reporter or a journalist any more. The agents of information have changed with free, accessible and instant publishing and broadcasting.Chris Anderson, editor of ‘Wired’ m

  • Article : Communication becomes easier with VOIP
Do you want to utilize your Internet network more efficiently at no extra cost? Think VOIP! The Internet has proved to be a boon in many ways since its emergence and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) can be counted among the advantages it offers. It involves using a single network for voice and data.VOIP is also known as Internet telephony, Voice over Broadband, and Broadband telephony. It is a system that involves routing conversations over the Internet. Any other IP-based network may also be used for the purpose. The benefits and the drawbacks of VOIP are as follows:Advantages- You can receive calls on your VOIP phone even when you are on a trip. Just carry the phone; whenever you connect to the Internet you can receive calls- VOIP to VOIP calls under most packages are free; VOIP to PSTN calls are, however, charged on the VOIP user- Calls are treated as local calls. For example, if a call centre agent based in India calls a customer in New York, the call will be local.- Some servic

  • Communication Via Internet Languages:
The late 1980s saw some of the first breakthroughs in creating websites taking place at CERN. It led to a boost in popularity of the internet as a medium of communication and broadcaster of information. A new stratum of professionals emerged who became indispensable to businesses with their skills in harnessing this newly unleashed media.GML or General Markup Language was the first ever language these web developers used for composing web pages. It was influenced by Script which pioneered the concept of styles being separated from the marked up document. GML allowed for processing same source files to produce books, reports and electronic editions. A drawback of this language was it was limited to only document formats.SGML or Standard General Markup Language was then introduced, which proved to be an intermediary for manipulating and exchanging text documents. SGML, in turn was used as a base for another language, HTML or Hypertext Markup Language, which allowed the developers to use

Bad communication is a problem. No communication is unforgivable.Productive and long lasting client relationships are nourished through frequent client communications. As an account/project manager like myself, communication is the only way to find out if you are doing a great job or if there are areas where you can improve. Remember that each and every you communicate with a client, you are doing essentially one of two things - increasing trust or decreasing trust.Trust with a client can be very difficult to obtain, especially when things don't go exactly as planned during a project. But nevertheless communication with a client can be the easiest and smartest thing you can do to help you build the trust desired. First, always provide a periodic status update to the client. This can be as simple as a phone call, face to face meeting, or through an email. Even if there is no job progress, the client will be kept in the loop of where the project is at that point in time, increase the pote

It was about how well couples communicate about their retirement plans or their lack there of.In a survey done with over 500 married couples with at least one spouse just about ready to retire they were both asked the same questions and it was found each spouse often had different ideas about some fairly basic issues around retirement (For your reference the average age of those surveyed was 53 to 54 and they on average were married for24 years). For example, more than 1/3 of those couples did not know when the other wanted to retire. They also found more than 2/5 of couples give different answers on weather one spouse will continue to work in retirement. Also more than 1/3 expected a different standard of living in retir

There can be nothing worse for clients than a poorly conceived email campaign from a local business owner. Receiving unsolicited email with no opt-out (about to become illegal in South Africa), repetitive information, bad design and poor content are some of the reasons many clients do not wish to be placed on an email circulation register. From a business owner's perspective though, email can be a very powerful tool. The writing of these emails is a skill all of its own and this blog will address this issue in the coming days.Managing email lists and responding to client's return emails is also important as it speaks to the professionalism of your business. • First Hours - A US Government Terrorist Response Communication Web Site
If you're of my generation, you spent some time during your youth crouched under a small school desk.  It was a ritual safety drill during the cold war years.  Our teachers explained that it was what we needed to do to protect ourselves if someone from the other side of the world decided one day to drop a bomb on the school. My generation leaned toward obedience, at least when we were in the third grade, so when the teacher suddenly announced "bomb drill" all of us quickly curled up under our desks, our fingers firmly linked on top of our heads. Sometimes I took something along to read just in case this was the "real thing."  I figured it could get pretty boring just sitting under a desk.  I always noticed however, that the teacher did not climb under her, far more substantial, desk during these safety drills.  I suspected that she either knew that A) desk vs bomb didn't make for good odds so she might as well take her chances, or B) s

During one month she sent a whopping 6,807 text messages and made the news in her local paper as a result.Teenagers clearly love texting. They also love instant messaging, several studies point to the fact that people under the age of 24 prefer instant messaging to email. Like texting, instant messaging leads to instant gratification. "Grown ups" used to get that because most of their communication was face to face. But now with our global connections and our increasingly solo lifestyles, such instant gratification of communication is difficult. Indeed, this may be part of the interplay of factors which are leading to increased levels of depression in older people. We just can't get the instant gratification we need of our communications any more.Younger p
