follow these things step by step and restart your system after each step 1. using add/remove programs uninstall useles softwares 2. in the drive of current windows make 15% minimum free space. 3. use disk cleanup to remove temporary and useles files. use scan disk to manage you allocation table 4. defragment your system. click 'start', go to 'run' and type 'msconfig' (without quotes), in there click on the startup tab and check out any programs which you think u dont need them to start at ur windows startup, for e.g. MSN, Yahoo Messenger, ICQ.... but be careful dont uncheck those important files and the files which you dont understand otherwise ur windows wont work properly. Secondly turn off ur hibernation...to do this go to: Control Panel>Power Options>Hibernate Tab>uncheck Enable Hibernation This thing will save alot of your hard disk space. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME

If you have Clean Sweep Deluxe, you should disable it before proceeding. If your hardware configuration (read CPU,RAM) is not upto speed but still want to boost response time of start menu, here are a few tricks that might help. Open registry editor by going to START-RUN and entering regedit and navigate to key HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ Desktop \ MenuShowDelay . Change the value (default may be 400) to 5 or 50 or even 0. This should speed up. If you are not all that crazy for shadowy effects, you can further speed the things up by going to DISPLAY Properties Window and from there to appearance and over there clicking Advanced command button and check off Show menu shadow.

Well folks i got the computer work finished. I installed a WD500GB SATA300 drive, did away with an 80GIG and a 160GIG drive. I installed 2GIGs of Kingston KVR DDR2700 ram and added a KVR 512MB stick. I also added an Antec Truepower Trio 650watt power supply to the old box and BOY it made a big differeance. I am still having issues but I hope to have them solved tonight. I have upgraded my RAM and I am now running about 2.5Gigs of DDR 2700 and I am working out the new SATA drive issues.
