A British explorer has rewritten history having completed three expeditions to the North Pole, the South Pole, and the Mount Everest in the fastest time so far. Forty-five-year-old Adrian Hayes covered the world’s “Three Poles”, a term that explorers use to denote the three latitudinal and altitudinal extremes of the planet, in 19 months and three days. He was on the 29,029ft summit of Mt. Everest on May 25 last year, and prior to that on April 25, he stood at the North Pole. Swedish couple—Thomas and Tina Sjogren—had been holding the record of being the fastest to cover the Three Poles so far. They had completed the odyssey in 24 months. A South Korean explorer named Young-Ho Heo was the first to achieve the task of reaching the three poles. Hayes, who lives in Dubai, has now become the 15th member of the exclusive club of explorers.
