Following the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto, backdoor channel contacts have once again been restored between the Presidency and the PPP, sources have said. Well-placed sources said that PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim met with a host of leaders including President Pervez Musharraf, however details of the meeting have not been disclosed as yet. Musharraf, during the meeting with Fahim, expressed his deep and heartfelt condolences over Benazir Bhutto’s death, they added. Sources quoted Musharraf as saying that the PPP would be taken into confidence during the investigations into Benazir’s killing in Rawalpindi on December 27. Musharraf assured Fahim that cooperation in the investigations would be sought from foreign experts also.
