AT&T and the iPhone have gone corporate. Despite the opinion of many analysts, AT&T is now labeling the iPhone an Enterprise-class device. My question, as with my earlier AT&T SIM-only story is, why is this all that great again?
The reason I say this is because if you compare the data plans [...]

This is "echo chamber time," but I don't care; Richard Cohen brought us this dreck yesterday...John Edwards lied about the cost of his haircuts.Uh, no. As BarbinMD of The Daily Kos points out...Apparently Mr. Cohen decided to ignore the fact that the cost of Edwards' haircut(s) was revealed through...wait for it...the Edwards' campaign's FEC filings.Everyone else maligned by Cohen can fend for themselves, but I just wanted to point that out.

The 4 letter has been babbling non-stop today about Cowboys-Packers. Same with the interwebs. Yet thanks to the pissing match between two insanely rich and profitable entities, the only way I can see even bits and pieces of the big game is by watching those bits and pieces over the 1 1/2" x 2" screen on my nifty Samsung phone generously given to me by Sprint (Gotta get the occasional plug in, you know?), or the same feed on NFL.com.Again, that feed is not the game itself, but just "Look-ins" and key plays inside the 20, hosted by NFL approved talking heads. This is just more typical corporate bullshit, with the fan is getting the ass end of the deal.As a fan, I've been bent over by the cable cartel, the NFL, and the Big 10 all damn football season, and there's no end in sight. (More sporadic posting today, by the way…)FCC Chairman Kevin J. Martin wrote this editorial that appeared in the New York Times today (with a truly curious headline that makes no sense to me, though I could have missed something) in which he advocated even more relaxed media ownership rules, specifically the following…A company that owns a newspaper in one of the 20 largest cities in the country should be permitted to purchase a broadcast TV or radio station in the same market. But a newspaper should be prohibited from buying one of the top four TV stations in its community.I should add that Martin comes up with this after he spends the first four paragraphs of his column describing the dire financial straits faced by newspapers; I don’t understand how allowing a media company to expand its sphere of influence to even more broadcast media if it already owns a newspaper specifically helps the latter entity. But to get an illustration of what Martin has in mind here, I would ask tha

When blogging as a platform stepped into mainstream communication, it revolutionized the way public opinion was raised. Just about anyone could publish what they thought on the Internet. And what’s more, it was free. The increase in user-friendly blogging softwares and tools added to the popularity of this medium of communication. While traditional methods of publishing involve time and money, blogging made it possible for users to update their respective blogs as frequently as they desired. The wheel of knowledge sharing was set in motion. This brilliant method of publishing was capitalized upon by corporate houses who seen the marketing potential it presented. The business blog was the result of public relation strategies for marketing a business’ goods and services online.Businesses now had a platform where they could reach out to their target market and interact with them through tools like feedbacks, surveys, polls and comments. While most of the content is biased to a certain e

From the AP’s Nedra Pickler (here)…NEW HAMPTON, Iowa - Hillary Rodham Clinton has taken the lead among Democratic presidential candidates in an Iowa poll, an encouraging sign of progress toward overcoming a big hurdle in the race.(Oh, and by the way, here is Pickler in action taking a partisan shot at Barack Obama, and here is Pickler allowing Bill Donahue a soapbox from which he can slime Amanda Marcotte and Melissa McEwen to the point where they decided to leave the John Edwards campaign, though Pickler didn’t bother to look into some of Donahue’s infamous remarks.)“An encouraging sign of progress,” huh? Well, at least Pickler didn’t write about Clinton’s “laugh,” which many other corporate media stooges are doing (I’m not going to say more about it; it truly isn’t worth it).Gee, I don’t know who edits copy over at the AP, but I can tell you that some of my journalism profs would have “ripped me a new one” if I’d handed in stuff like this, to say nothi

Whenever we offer criticisms about 3CDC’s corporate revision of our City’s central space, status-quo defenders are quick to assert that the new (and still unfinished) Fountain Square is a great success due to the people who attend the programs offered. But the old Square never had this kind of programming, so for all we know the old Square could have been this successful with some programming, too. The issue is not about the popularity of programming, but a look at the corporate backstory that no one wants to talk about. And another chapter in this corporate backstory came this week as 5/3 bank branded the Square with their new logo.

Yes, I know that this marks the 10th anniversary of the beginning of one of the most obscene media orgies I, for one, have ever witnessed (and I don’t mean to trivialize the related human tragedy that touched the whole world by saying so).I have not forgotten that Princess Diana died on August 31, 1997.Given that, and the attention that it has generated today, I would ask in my humility and naïveté that every time an event, circumstance, or political/social/economic development of one type or another is reported affecting this country and the world, it is covered as thoroughly as Diana’s death.I’d like to see a pro and con analysis of the policies on health coverage in this country, the economy, the environment, refugee crises throughout the world (and attendant to that, the Iraq war, of course), provided with the same depth and clarity which illuminated the fact that Henri Paul had consumed the equivalent of a medicine cabinet full of drugs before he totaled the Mercedes-Benz

ne of the sites I have just completed is for SpaBuzz, the Mobile Spa service serving the DC Metro area. The owner wanted a clean and professional page that incorporated the logo and highlighted the theme. I decided to take a comic style bubble and make it professional yet upbeat by incorporating the client's logo and spa images. The earth tones of SpaBuzz's logo (presented to me for use on the page) with the "buzz" bubbles make the page stand out, not unlike their exceptional service! In the latest bipartisan effort to destroy our civil liberties and constitution, they’ve even thrown out the mere appearance of checks and balances. I guess throwing away that pesky rubber stamp (FISA) will save time. Here’s the most recent example of the corporate Democrats’ complete failure to act as an opposition party.

An American automobile company and a Japanese auto company decided to have a competitive boat race on the Detroit River. Both teams practiced hard and long to reach their peak performance. On the big day, they were as ready as they could be.
The Japanese team won by a mile.
Afterwards, the American team became discouraged by the loss and their morale sagged. Corporate management decided that the reason for the crushing defeat had to be found. A Continuous Measurable Improvement Team of “Executives” was set up to investigate the problem and to recommend appropriate corrective action.
Their conclusion: The problem was that the Japanese team had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, whereas the American team had 1 person rowing and 8 people steering. The American Corporate Steering Committee immediately hired a consulting firm to do a study on the management structure.
After some time and billions of dollars, the consulting firm concluded that “too many people were stee
Trot on over to wired and add a company to the “Evil Corporate Privacy Wrong doer” entry on 27Stroke6 blog. As wired puts it, as we enter into the weekend where we fought and won our freedom, what corporate entities are doing their best to totally screw up on the privacy issues. The list already is pretty impressive and the facts are there to show that yes, companies like AOL, ATT, Comcast and others have done their best to violate any sense of privacy on the internet we might have.
Heading into freedom weekend, THREAT LEVEL decided to ask readers to indulge in some free speech, whistle blowing, corporate bashing by submitting and voting on which companies have the worst privacy practices. Spammers, squealers and slimy data sellers are all fair game. Source: 27Bstroke6 Wired
This should be a piece of cake, everyone has a grudge, everyone knows some horror story, and others sadly have been caught up in it much to their detriment.
So join in, do some corporate bashing, and have
