NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India's direct tax receipts crossed 2.17 trillion rupees by middle of January, more than 81 percent of annual target, the finance ministry said on Friday. Back in October of 2006, TMZ reported on some Marcia Cross nude pictures. A couple Sunday evenings ago, an illustration was used that I wanted to share with you today. The small cross is when we come by faith to believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ. The two lines represent two things that should happen as we grow in that relationship with the Lord. One line is our comprehension of the magnitude of the holiness of God. The other line is the knowledge of how sinful and depraved we truly are. Thankfully, Tom's pressure wound is healing nicely. Its been a horribly long battle that both Tom and I are tired of fighting. Yet, about a month before our big party, I told Tom that he could either get up every day and make the wound stay about the same size or worse, or stay in bed and let the thing heal as much as possible. We both knew that Tom would be up in his chair a long time on the day of the party, and that would cause added trouble to the already existing wound. So, Tom tried really hard to stay in bed the whole time before the party. He obviously did get up every now and again, otherwise he would of gone crazy. But, overall it helped tremendously.I think this thing might be healed by New Years. That sure would be great. We've been trying to get it to heal for over a year now. It sucks. But, its a part of life for a quadriplegic. They don't tell you that crap in the hospital, btw.

Today is the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. For many Catholics it is just another feast day. Yet what is the reason for feast days (another article, for another time)? Why did the Church feel compelled to create this feast day? What is its significance to you and me?
The origin of this feast is a little cloudy, most Church historians trace it back to Pope Sergius I (687-701). It originally commemorated the recovery of the True Cross from the Persians who had taken it (or at least a portion of it). However, over time the feast also became linked to the finding of the True Cross by St. Helena. Today we commemorate both events. Down through the ages, Catholics have always felt it necessary to honor the cross, as the instrument of our salvation. This feast calls us to rejoice in that reality, both from a salvific prespective and in its material presence - the True Cross.

The other day when I was experimenting with my new camera while out in the rain I discovered a perfect looking Maltese Cross bloom. I took several photographs of it, getting closer and closer as I did.
The cluster of flowers is actually only an inch or so in diameter so you can imagine just how close I was zooming in to get this close up.
Don’t the petals actually have a bit of a plasticized look to them?
The Maltese cross is a great plant to grow. It’s fairly hardy. I think it’s a zone 3 or 4 plant. The plant grows tall stalks that develop flower buds on their tips which develop into clusters of flowers as shown above. There’s often 20+ stalks at a time.
My Maltese Cross plants bloom at least twice a year. Usually in late June to early July and then I cut down the stalks when the flowers are finished. The plant then blooms once more in late August or early September. The flowers tend to last for about two weeks at a time.
