CEO Rick Wagoner won't be making his keynote address at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show until Tuesday, but word is that a big talking point in his speech will be driverless cars. According to CNN Money/Autos, Wagoner is expected to reveal that GM will b
Where's Duke Nukem been the last decade?Filed under: Culture, PC, First Person ShootersThe door swung shut, his familiar frame lumbered in, sunk into the couch, like nothing had changed these last ten years. "Where have you been?" we screamed. "It's been ten years!""I'm looking for some alien toilet to park my bricks. Who's firrrrst?""So that's it? You come in here stinking like a wet cigar and that's all you've got to say for yourself?" He puffed on his cigar, blew radioactive smoke in our faces, and left ... Evidently, the boys at ShackNews have gotten over their abandonment issues (any pointers?) and taken a calendar-heavy look at the game's progress (or lack thereof, knowhutamean?) over the last decade of development. Most telling: the two E3 trailers, in '98 and '01, that show plenty of gameplay in what would almost seem to be a nearly complete game. Once you're done reading that, take another look at The Duke Nukem Forever List, an incredibly sobering breakdown of the things

Chinese officials expect their nation is on the brink of a significant baby boom in the coming decade. In 1973, the Chinese government introduced family planning laws which restricted families from having more than one child. However, in 1984, the law was changed to allow rural people whose first child was a girl to have [...]
This piece of news, sounds like something from a fiction movie but hey presto anything is possible in our world today. The 'back from the dead' canoeist and his wife scandal ,sparked an upheaval in Britain. Presumed dead (he) after his canoe was found washed up in a million shattered pieces (North Sea). However , Mrs Darwin has openly admitted that they were living as man and wife when an inquest had declared him dead. Which inevitably started the web of lies that she told to the authorities and to both her adult sons (who have in turn disowned both parents after their father surrendered himself to the police claiming amnesia few days ago ). Hahah that bit about him claiming amnesia is really ridiculous, as after a day he has lost his amnesia being in police custody. What made them come clean? There is only one reason because they were careless. Which again is really funny, as Mr Darwin (and Mrs but according to her its all down to him) planned so hard for his disappearance but was bra
Annual inflation in Saudi Arabia accelerated in September to 4.8%, the highest level in at least a decade, due to strong rent and food prices, Central Department of Statistics data showed on Tuesday. September marked the fifth month running that the annual inflation rate had risen in the world’s largest oil exporter as rent prices [...]

Sir Gustav, Australian of the Year in 2000, said scientists were making real progress on the creation of the potentially life-saving vaccines.

US demand for nurses to remain high in next decade--officialBy Nikko DizonInquirerLast updated 08:37pm (Mla time) 08/23/2007MANILA, Philippines -- The demand for nurses in the United States will remain high for the next 10 years, according to an official of the US National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). An initial group of examinees took the National Council Licensure Examination at the first NCLEX testing center in the country on Thursday. "The nursing shortage is still significant and research still indicates that there is a future anticipated shortfall of more than a million nurses in the US," Casey Marks, NCSBN associate executive director, told reporters in an interview. The shortage is worldwide, according to Marks. In the US -- a preferred destination of many Filipino nurses -- "there is certainly a significant demand for a long period of time," he said. With opportunities looming ahead, Marks said he would encourage more Filipinos to take up nursing as a profession

Read the following paragraph carefully. It’s really not subtle, but one might forget we live in a nation of laws and that no one person is above the law. The paragraph concerns torture and what should or should not be allowed by representatives of this country:
The vice president’s lawyer advocated what was considered the memo’s most radical claim: that the president may authorize any interrogation method, even if it crosses the line of torture. U.S. and treaty laws forbidding any person to “commit torture,” that passage stated, “do not apply” to the commander in chief, because Congress “may no more regulate the President’s ability to detain and interrogate enemy combatants than it may regulate his ability to direct troop movements on the battlefield.”*

They say that by middle age a man’s face is a reflection of his character.
I give you Dick Cheney. His arrogance seeps through. The perpetual sneer is testimony to the respect this man has for the American public and for democratic transparency. I never hated Bush. I don’t much care for him. He has his own arrogance and stubbornness, but I like to think he was over-matched and really does have a heart.
Cheney on the other hand….Cheney’s ongoing battle to keep the sunshine out of visitor logs and who he meets with and what he met about is understandable in some rare cases. But, every scandal that has rocked the capital where so-called secrecy was tantamount to save the republic pretty much turned out to be tantamount only to save the reputation of the person or persons who were perpetuating a hose-job on we the people. Witness the Pentagon Papers..deception after deception uncovered. Witness Nixon’s tapes. The only horror show there was the bar
