MUMBAI: US aircraft manufacturer Boeing on Wednesday said it would compensate Air India for the delay in the delivery of Dreamliner 787 aircraft to the Indian carrier. "We will compensate Air India for the delay in the delivery of Dreamliners," Boeing Senior Vice-President Dinesh Keskar told reporters on the sidelines of an aviation summit. In 2005, the national carrier had placed orders with Boeing for 68 aircraft costing $11.6 billion. Of the 68 aircraft, 27 are Dreamliners. The first Dreamliner was scheduled to be delivered by end-this year, but the deliveries are now expected to be delayed. "There have been supply-chain strains," Keskar said, adding that this has resulted in delay in the delivery of the aircraft. The first Dreamliner will now be delivered to Air India in 2009, he said, adding that the delivery date has, however, not been decided yet. Besides Air India, private carriers Jet Airways and SpiceJet have placed orders with Boeing. Jet has ordered for 53 aircraft, of whic

All political parties in North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), except the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F), have condemned the six-week delay in the general elections that have now been slated for February 18. The Pakistan Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday postponed the polls, which were earlier scheduled for January 8, citing large-scale violence and rioting in the country following former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's assassination. Condemning the delay in polls, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Provincial President Pir Sabir Shah said that the delay was meant to provide more time to the PML-Q to revive its image, which it had lost following Benazir's death. Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) NWFP spokesperson Khwaja Yawar Naseer said that the government, which is "already involved in pre-poll rigging," was "frightened" after Benazir's death and "adopted the postponement option to create hurdle
The United Nations has said that Pakistan’s decision to postpone the January 8 elections was country’s "internal matter". "We have no comments as it is an internal matter of Pakistan," UN spokesperson Michele Montas said. Replying to a question, she said that the UN was not involved in Pakistan’s electoral process. Pakistan’s Election Commission postponed the general election by six weeks due to the turmoil sparked by the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto. Meanwhile, the White House has said that it saw no need for a United Nations investigation into Bhutto’s slaying because Britain’s Scotland Yard would lead the current probe. "Scotland Yard being in the lead of this investigation is appropriate and necessary and we don’t see a need for an investigation beyond that at this time," spokeswoman Dana Perino said. Amid charges from Bhutto’s allies that the Musharraf regime had mishandled the probe

On it's Japanese website, Nintendo has confirmed that DVD playback now wont be added to the Wii console this year. Plans for a DVD-enabled model of the Nintendo Wii were revealed last October and penciled-in for release in the second half of 2007 in Japan & North America. Industry-wide component shortages, which have restricted production of the standard Wii console, were cited as the reason for postponing the Premium Wii with DVD
I guess that’s the thinking, such as it is, behind the following quote from former U.S. Dem House Rep and former Vice Presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro (concerning the performance of John Edwards in the Democratic debate last week along with Hillary Clinton, as noted here)…“John Edwards, specifically, as well as the press, would never attack Barack Obama for two hours they way they attacked her,” said (Ferraro), the 1984 vice presidential candidate who supports Mrs. Clinton. “It’s O.K. in this country to be sexist,” Ms. Ferraro said.“It’s certainly not O.K. to be racist. I think if Barack Obama had been attacked for two hours — well, I don’t think Barack Obama would have been attacked for two hours.”You’ve got to be kidding me.I had - had - a measure of respect for Ferraro because she once gave it back in a debate to Poppy Bush when he was running as the incumbent V.P. under Ronnie Baby in ‘84, after G.H.W.B. said something along the lines of “here,

...Until it has "definitive proof" of a missile threat from Iran?! This pandering to the Russians will not accomplish anything. They do not want the United States to "meddle" in any of the former soviet bloc countries. Russia still considers these countries their territory. Poland and the Czech Republic have agreed to host the missile defense sites, we should address any concerns of those countries and let the Russians cry in the corner. The United States might delay activating its proposed missile defense sites in Europe until it has "definitive proof" of a missile threat from Iran, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Tuesday. At a news conference after meeting Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek, Gates said this was a proposal to the Russians who strongly oppose U.S. missile defense that has yet to be worked out in detail. "We would consider tying together activation of the sites in Poland and the Czech Republic with definitive proof of the threat in other w

Almond growers of California ABC are asking for a delay in their requirement to kill and add the necessary highly toxic flammable compounds to the almonds you'll be eating as required by the United States Government. They're being forced to pasteurize their almonds and if you don't act by the August 31st, 2007, your raw organic or natural almonds will be a thing of the past.Remember the salmonella outbreak in 2004 which affected a few people? Well, the USDA have decided that spending a few dollars on educating people (running a few TV advertising spots) on how to wash their fruits, vegetables and almonds would not be as efficient as killing all the nutrition and sterilizing the Almonds. From the San Fransisco Gate:In January, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that virtually all almonds would have to be pasteurized as of September 1. This new rule was a result of Salmonella outbreaks in 2001 and 2004 that were traced back to raw almonds. The California Almond Board is now req

LEFTIST PRINCIPLESFrom Tom DelayIn one controversy after another, Democrat leaders in the last 40 years have shown themselves almost wholly without any compass other than partisanship.Nixon obstructed justice to cover up a scandal, Democrats hounded him from office; Clinton did the same thing, Democrats rallied to his defense. G. Gordon Liddy tried to steal stuff from the DNC, he's a pariah; Sandy Berger successfully stole stuff from the 9/11 Commission, he's a hero. Ronald Reagan says he wants to reform welfare, he's a racist; Bill Clinton says he wants to reform welfare, he's a visionary. Sen. When you try to delete a file or directory in Windows Explorer (or Total Commander) that is in use by another program, it takes a long time before an error message tells you that the file cannot be removed. With a little bit of research I've found that this happens because there is a 5 seconds delay in deleting the files, so a solution would be to make that delay 0 seconds by patching the shell32.dll. The process is a little complicated so if you do not really understand something is better not to try it. This was tested on Windows XP and I recommend doing a backup before trying it. Here are the steps:First of all you need to make sure that there is only one shell32.dll file. Thus, go to C:\\Windows\system32\dllcache (assuming C is your system partition) and rename shell32.dll (if it exists) to shell32.dll.bakNow you will need a hex editor to patch the shell32.dll file. I used Tiny Hexer (which is free) so you can download and install it.Next you need to copy shell32.dll from C:\\Windo
