Luego de que Toshiba anunció de manera oficial que no desarrollaría más el formato HD-DVD, la compańía LG en un extrańo movimiento le ha comunicado a sus clientes que seguirá ofreciendo y desarrollando reproductores en dicho formato. Ya que considera necesario ofrecer a los consumidores un reproductor que pueda soportar ambos formatos. Por el momento LG ofrece una línea de reproductores híbridos compatible con los formatos HD-DVD y Blu-ray, brindándole su apoyo al ya enterrado HD-DVD. Aunque ellos son concientes que el formato Blu-ray será primordial, pero no quieren echar a un lado a todas las personas que hayan elegido el HD-DVD.
No habia hablado nada al respecto, solo leía como los rumores se hacían cada vez más fuerte, así que el anuncio oficial se hizo el día de ayer por la misma empresa, donde manifestaron que dejaran de fabricar los HD-DVD. Hasta el momento esta guerra de formatos ha terminado... y la victoria se la ha llevado el Blu-Ray. Tal parece que esta decisión la ha tomado Toshiba por que el HD-DVD solo le estaba generando perdidas a la empresa. Y el anuncio de la Warner a principio de ańo, donde expresaban que abandonarían este formato por que se iban a dedicar exclusivamente al formato Blu-Ray, siendo este formato el que se usará para publicar sus películas, en cierto modo esto aceleró el final del HD-DVD, ya que Warner era la única empresa grande que apoyaba ambos formatos. But unlike a punch drunk boxer giving it one last shot at the win, it appears that the HD DVD camp is slowly coming to grips with its grim future.The camp responded to earlier reports that Netflix would only carry Blu-ray titles as well as Best Buy recommending Blu-ray as the HD standard.
