Daniel Vettori has just issued a statement that his focus is primarily on the match against England and not the IPL draft meeting to be held at Mumbai. He said that he will not be distracted by the news of the IPL auction process.Vettori is one of the four players who will play against England tomorrow and will also be interested in the outcome of the drafting process which takes place at the mumbai. The four players from New zealand who have their interest in IPL are Vettori,Oram,Mccullum and also Styris.Stephen Fleming has also been signed up for the IPL.Vettori said in an interview "That is the environment these days with all these things going on. It's almost like other sports around the world where contract negotiations seem to play a huge part in the day-to-day game. The Kiwis have once again exerted their authority on England and defeated them by 10 wickets today in the second onedayer to lead the series 2-0 here. The tourists were dreadful both with the bat and ball and suffered a humiliating 10 wicket defeat and must now win the remaining three matches to capture the series.England got all out for 158 runs after being 89/2 at one stage in a match which was 36 over a sise at Seddon Park.New zealand on their reply knocked off the target of 165 with Mccullum scoring 80 runs and Ryder scoring 79 runs.England must really try to lift themselves if they are to win the remaining three matches of the series.

Dimitri Mascarenhas delivered with bat and ball to guide England to a comfortable 32-run victory in today's opening Twenty20 International over New Zealand. The Hampshire all-rounder injected badly needed momentum into England's stuttering innings by hitting 31 off 14 balls to help the tourists reach a competitive 184 for eight after being put in to bat. Mascarenhas then claimed two for 19 from his four overs, including the the key wickets of Jamie How and Scott Styris, to ensure New Zealand were always struggling to keep up with the rate and were dismissed for 152. His superb all-round display made amends for his disappointing ICC World Twenty20 tournament, when he reached double figures only once in five innings and was generally expensive with the ball. Today, though, he demonstrated his great ability to clear the ropes with the bat and great composure with the ball as England maintained their 100% winning record on their tour of New Zealand. Mascarenhas' strokeplay was badly n

Who do you think will win this years superbowl ?? Is it going to be the undefeated Patriots, who are playing the perfect season, or will it be the Giants who suprised everybody by defeating the Packers?? Give us your view on this on our forum.
I think this is an absolutely fabulous idea! As long as these cameras remain on the city streets and not invade people's privacy within their own personal dwellings, they can place thousands of them around the UK's cities and any other country's cities for that matter, everyone. The end result will be a safer, cleaner lifestyle for the population and if you're one of these cam operators, lots of interesting (and sometimes funny) jobs for possible yobs, instead. ;) READ ABOUT THIS HEREPractice non-violence in your lives. The big game, “The Super Bowl”, is here and everybody is awaiting the best two teams of the NFL to engage in battle. But this will be no average championship contest, one of the teams has captured our attention. These New England Patriots have achieved something that no other team has - except one other team - their nemesis - The Miami Dolphins. The Miami Dolphins(1972)Now these Patriots are a special bunch, this can easily be seen by any football spectator even if their knowledge of the game is a little shaky. This team wins so seeming effortless that you wonder if their opponent is really trying to defeat them. That’s how good the New England Patriots are, they have excellent players in every position. Here’s where the train goes off the tracks for this team and glorious NFL franchise: They are cheaters. The New England Patriots were caught videotaping another team's defensive signals - this is a horrible revelation - how could they? My faith in the New England Patriots and ,

Poor old David Beckham seems to have exchanged a monumentous footballing career in the United Kingdom for a less than mediocre ‘job’ in the United States and all, most probably, based on the fact that Posh wanted to move to Los Angeles to chase a non-existing modeling, acting, pouting career! They beat the NY Giants 38-35. With one mighty heave, Tom Brady and Randy Moss took care of the record books. Now it's down to business for the unbeaten New England Patriots: stamping themselves as the greatest team in NFL history. The Patriots completed a perfect if somewhat joyless journey through the regular season Saturday night, finishing with a remarkable 16-0 record following a thrilling 38-35 comeback victory over the New York Giants. New England became the first NFL team since the 1972 Dolphins to win every game on the schedule, and that one was only 14-0. This victory required a comeback from a 12-point deficit engineered by the brilliant Brady, and smashed the Patriots' league mark for consecutive victories. Validation of their inexorable march through the season can only come by adding a Super Bowl championship, their fourth of the decade. Do that and there'll be no challenge to their spot at the top. Tom Brady also broke the season record for TD passes with
Nancy Dell’Olio still feels “married” to ex-lover Sven Goran Eriksson, but this has not stopped her from seeing other male friends. According to The Sun, the sultry Italian still visualises Eriksson, a former England soccer boss as her husband. When asked the question, Nancy, 44, said: “Absolutely, it’s definitely a marriage.” Then asked if she is seeing anyone else, she replied: “There are a few other men, but we’ll see. I leave the options open.” Nancy still lives in London’s Belgravia while Eriksson is based in Manchester where he is the manager of Manchester City. Since he moved north, Eriksson has been linked to a number of women. Nancy said it was her decision for them to “take a break” in their relationship. She revealed they still talk on the phone. (ANI)
Former England football skipper David Beckham has dubbed his former Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello as 'the man to lead England',- and pleaded for a place in the side. Capello dropped Beckham from the Spanish outfit last season when it was announced he would be joining Los Angeles Galaxy. Beckham, speaking in a candid Christmas BBC Radio Two interview broadcast today, said: “Fabio is one of the managers players look up to and want to manage them. I hope I’ll be part of his plans. I think he is going to be great for the players and the England team.” Beckham admits he had problems under Capello, but is glad he was able to sign off at the Bernabeu in such style. He was sorry when the club sacked the Italian. The 32-year-old Beckham has 99 England caps. (ANI)

Fabio Capello has been confirmed as England’s new messiah until 2012, on a contract reportedly worth 6.5 million pounds a year by the Football Association on Friday. With Fabio Capello reportedly set to take over the England manager job vacated by Steve McClaren, now is as good a time as any to close two concurrent polls Soccer Source has been running for the past fortnight. The polls asked readers to predict where England will finish in their qualifying group for the 2010 World Cup and inquired if the Three Lions "will win a World Cup or European Championship in your lifetime?"I originally intended the mini survey to gauge England fans' moods after their team's historic collapse against Croatia. But it soon occurred to me that this method was flawed on several levels: there was no way to limit participation to England fans and the "your lifetime" bit was by definition subjective--and potentially self-fulfilling, if particularly distraught fans decided to take their lives into their own hands in the near future (a very real concern, judging by what was portrayed in the country's media. Talk about self-fulfilling. How can you not contemplate suicide

In light of England's catastrophic (judging by some of the press reports--the positive ones) failure to qualify for Euro 2008, I thought it would be timely to attempt to put my finger to the pulse of the one-time mother nation. Specifically, I am interested to see how England fans gauge their country's chances of making it to the next the 2010 World Cup. This is of course timely for another reason, namely that the qualifying groups were just drawn yesterday, with England by all accounts ending up with an easy draw.Witness, then, the polls at the top right of the page. The first one quite simply asks what England's fate will be in world cup qualifying. Four options there: They win the group, they finish second and qualify via the playoff, they finish second and fail to qualify, or they finish third or lower. The second poll is much broader and simply asks if England will win a Euro or World Cup in your lifetime (whatever that may be. Of course if you're really pessimistic and anticipate
England was drawn into a Group 6 with Croatia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Andorra. Looks like it could have been worse for the Three Lions. Several groups look a lot tougher. Take a look:Group 1: Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Albania, Malta.Group 2: Greece, Israel, Switzerland, Moldova, Latvia, Luxembourg.Group 3: Czech Republic, Poland, Northern Ireland, Slovakia, Slovenia, San Marino.Group 4: Germany, Russia, Finland, Wales, Azerbaijan, Liechtenstein.Group 5: Spain, Turkey, Belgium, Bosnia, Armenia, Estonia.Group 6: Croatia, England, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Andorra.Group 7: France, Romania, Serbia, Lithuania, Austria, Faroe Islands.Group 8: Italy, Bulgaria, Ireland, Cyprus, Georgia, Montenegro.Group 9: Netherlands, Scotland, Norway, Macedonia, Iceland. Not sure if there is a "Group of Death," except that England's group isn't it. Of the nine top-seeded teams, Croatia is arguably the worst. Group 2 is probably the weakest group. I don't understand how Israel could be

Okay, that might be overstating things a bit, not to mention putting a little too much pressure on the Aston Villa goalkeeper's shoulders (as he is after all a regular reader of this blog. Yeah right). By now you probably know Scott Carson is starting in goal for England's crucial Euro qualifier against Croatia tonight. And if you didn't know, please leave and become a fan before returning to read this blog. All kidding aside (and I was kidding. Please don't leave), Paul Robinson was a huge liability, who probably cost England the game in Moscow. Even before that match, I had tried to warn Steve McClaren about starting Robbo. Soccer Source readers backed me up on this, as only 6% thought the Spurs keeper should have started that game. The same poll found 40% in favor of Carson starting in Robinson's place. Alas, McClaren didn't listen and his decision very nearly proved fatal to England's qualifying hopes. (Let this be a lesson to you, boys and girls. You can doubt Soccer Source but yo
I was debating if this was worth posting on and finally decided to throw it up here. The headline says it all. That is, if you were even aware that Markus Schopp, the oft-injured/virtually never-used Red Bulls midfielder had been called into the Austrian national team for tonight's friendly with England in the first place. I didn't know myself until this Eurosport/Yahoo! story mentioned it in passing. Point is, he didn't play according to the Austrian FA's report of the game (it's in German but you don't need to know the language to look at the lineups on the bottom of the page and see Schopp's name is nowhere to be found. Which actually makes me a little skeptical if he was even there to begin with. Did anybody in Austria or England see this game on TV and happen to notice if he was on the bench?). England won the game 1-0 on a goal by Peter Crouch right before half-time.I spoke to Schopp after a RB game this season and he told me he fully expected to play for the Austrian national te

On the way to our hotel in the south of Awaji we made a pit stop at England Hill, a small attraction park based on the Lake District in England. Visitors to the park can try baking bread, making ice-cream, yoghurt, butter, sausages, pickles, pizza and pasta, but these two visitors couldn’t because we arrived only two hours before closing time. So we walked around a bit and enjoyed the scenery, like a field with thousands of flowers, the lake and some towers that made me feel like I stepped into a Harry Potter movie. Nature doesn’t really excite me very much, but the walk was pretty nice and the weather was sunny and warm, not hot Japanese style, so it was enjoyable. We stopped for some (perhaps English but I doubt it) ice-cream, and there yet again we had to queue for at least 30 minutes! Impatient as lines make me I had to find something to do while one old Japanese lady tried to provide all the customers with ice-cream at her own slow pace. I haven’t really been studying Japanes

I haven't seen anybody else do this, so I figured I would give it a shot. Red Bull players are listed first:Goalkeeper: Jon Conway versus Matt Reis.Analysis: Conway is a solid--perhaps even very good--shot-stopper. He has excellent reflexes and is very good from point blank range. Unfortunately, his deficiencies in other areas (crosses, ball distribution, positioning, etc.) have kept him from developing with the elite U.S. goalkeepers of his generation. And let's not even talk about his brain freeze the last time Red Bulls played in Foxboro. Reis, while he may not be able to match Conway's flair for the dramatic, is also less prone to schizophrenic play. I prefer that in my goalkeeper.Edge: New England.Defense: van den Bergh/Mendes/Parke/Freeman versus John(Riley)/Parkhurst/HeapsAnalysis: Red Bulls' defense has been very shaky at times. And that's when they played well. Granted the team has had a lot of injuries and for a long time could not find anybody to play left back. Van den Berg
Slender Georgia Horsley, who has been crowned Miss England, has been told to pile on the pounds if she wants to win the world title. The size eight florist who tips the scales at nine stone has the figure most women would die for - but the organisers of the Miss World competition are looking for a contestant with more curves to win this year.Georgia is now on a high fat diet to help her plump up in time for the beauty pageant. The blonde 20-year-old, from Malton, North Yorks, is hoping she will pile on the pounds for the competition in Sanya, China, on December 1.She said: "Miss World judges like naturally curvy girls and don't like the stick-thin women you see on the catwalks."They promote healthy eating and I want to help them get that message across, so I'm giving it my all."The pretty hopeful was advised to put on weight by Miss England director Angie Beasley, who is a former model and Miss World judge.Miss Beasley, 44, said: "Beauty pageants are meant to appeal to women everywhere

A Soccer Source poll conducted in the days leading up to today's Estonia game found only 6% of respondents in favor of starting Paul Robinson in goal for the English national team. Aston Villa's Scott Carson (left) was the poll's favored replacement, tallying 40% of respondents' votes, followed by West Ham's Robert Green (26%), England's actual #2 David James (20%) and the elusive "somebody else" (6%). Zero percent (0%, as in nobody) wanted Wigan's Chris Kirkland.Did Steve McClaren listen? Nooooo. Robbo started for England today and was a bit shaky on at least one save, according to the BBC's report of the game. (I did not actually watch the game myself, because it wasn't broadcast in New York, though three other Euro qualifiers were, as I previously noted). And that was Estonia. He's sure to have a busier time at Moscow on Wednesday. With a win, England qualify for the main event in Austria and Switzerland next summer. We shall see.
Paul Robinson's poor form is a subject Spurs fans and others are all too familiar with. Last week a Soccer-Source poll found 87% of respondents in favor of Martin Jol benching Robbo--advice the burly Dutchman unfortunately declined to heed. The result: another (at best) shaky performance that probably cost Spurs a historic victory at Anfield. While the North London side have the rest of the season to recover these squandered points, England have no such luxury. As discussed earlier, they currently sit second in Group E qualifying, three points behind Croatia, with three games remaining. The upcoming games against Estonia and Russia are crucial, with the latter match in Moscow sure to prove a difficult challenge on a number of levels (how much experience do these guys have playing on artificial turf?) Surely, McClaren's job is on the line if England fail to qualify. Not the time, one would think, to go with a shaky backstop. McLaren apparently views things a bit differently, telling the
