We have some great news for Resident Evil fans out there, as Capcom has confirmed it is working on a Computer Generated Animation movie, based on the popular survival-horror series.Although not many details have been revealed, we know that Capcom is producing the movie in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan Co. Ltd, it will be called Biohazard: Degeneration and will be released in 2008. Unsurprisingly the issue of racism in the next Resident Evil installment has reared it's ugly head once again. A writer over at AlterNet has gone so far as to label the entire series racist rather than just the upcoming Resident Evil 5. The fact that the author only covers Resident Evil 4 and a game that is yet to be released is only the first sign that the article you're about to read is dripping in absurdity.If the author had actually done his research he would have realised that every single game in the series (so far) has white zombies. Not only that but the majority of the games are set in the USA. Resident Evil 4 made the jump to Europe and included 'zombies' with Spanish (not Mexican, as the author points out) accents. Now I don't know about you but I'd find it strange to set the game in an obscure European village and have the zombies sound like Americans. It's all about 'location location!'. A home invasion in the small town of Cheshire CT this week reached a level of violence “almost unfathomable.” I lived in L.A. for thirty years and don’t remember any home invasion as sickeningly violent as this. Remember that 14 yo Iraqi girl who was raped and murdered by US troops? This is worse.
The husband was beaten with a baseball bat almost beyond recognition. The wife was strangled to death. The 11 and 17 yo daughters were raped, doused with gasoline, and set on fire.
Police caught the alleged humans who did it, and I have no trouble saying they are guilty considering police saw them running out of the house after setting it afire. While I oppose the death penalty, people committing crimes this horrendous need to be locked up and never let out. Let them die of old age decades from now in prison.
(This wasn’t a gang thing, there is no apparent link between the victims and the murderers, and robbery appeared to be the motive.)
