EA extends NFL license into 2012 seasonFiled under: NewsToday, industry powerhouse, Electronic Arts announced that it would be extending its exclusive licensing agreement with the National Football League and NFL Players Club until the end of the 2012 season, leading into early 2013. Sports gamers may remember 2004 when EA purchased the exclusive rights to produce NFL licensed games from under the competition, namely 2K Games. The Madden series from EA continues to be a successful brand, as the 20-year-old franchise has accounted for over $2 billion in sales alone. After the announcement, former Xbox head honcho turned EA Sports president, Peter Moore said, "Game quality is our top priority, and we're committed to pushing our gameplay innovation, connecting football fans via rich online experiences and delivering the most visually stunning sports games on the market." To be honest we're when someone going to buy the license for the lucrative Curling market, that's like an excuse t
EA Extends NFL Exclusivity Until 2013 EA has extended its exclusive licensing deal with the NFL until 2013, which means that EA games will be the only ones to feature genuine NFL players, teams, and stadiums for the next five years. In addition to giving EA the sole rights to develop, publish, and distribute NFL-based games for everything that draws current, the deal also gives EA access to content from NFL Films and the NFL Network. Rumor has it they also get John Facenda frozen in carbonite. Though other football games have found creative ways around EA's exclusivity, such as All-Pro Football's use of retired NFL players or Blitz the League's fictional teams, it's hard to ignore the advantage that the NFL license gives to the Madden games. This year marks the-- get ready to feel old, people -- 20th anniversary of the Madden franchise. Go have a turducken to celebrate. Link - Tue, 12 Feb 2008 08:01:19 GMT - Feed (2 subs) Sent using Send
By James Topham TOKYO (Reuters) - Oil extended gains towards $89 a barrel on Friday as traders bought back short positions on expectations that cold U.S. weather would boost fuel demand and after prices failed to break below the $86 watermark. U.S. light, sweet crude for March delivery rose 70 cents to $88.81 a barrel by 0656 GMT. Prices fell as low as $86.24 a day earlier, near the lowest in three and a half months, but later rebounded to close 97 cents higher on the day. London Brent crude was trading 86 cents higher at $89.37 a barrel. "The market is in a slight short-covering mood after finding solid support around $86 this week, but traders are still careful about chasing prices too strongly on rallies," said Tatsuo Kageyama, an analyst at Kanetsu Asset Management in Tokyo. But he said the fear of a U.S. recession that could dampen oil demand in the world's top consumer -- and reverberate across the world -- was keeping prices well below the record high of $1

Well, it is a partial victory… From the Houston Chronicle:The Senate on Thursday night approved a seven-year extension of a moratorium on state and local taxes on Internet access. The Senate voice vote came a little over a week after the House passed a bill calling for a four-year moratorium. The tax ban, first approved in 1998, is set to expire Nov. 1. Attempts in both the House and Senate to make the ban permanent in recent weeks were unsuccessful despite strong support for the idea. However… The two chambers will have to reach a compromise on the length of the ban and other differences before the bill can be sent to the White House for President Bush’s signature. Well, it will be some time we will not have to worry about paying MORE taxes to the federal government. Isn’t it amazing how they constantly find ways to increase our tax burden? first cell phones and now they want to tax us for using the internet. they basically want to tax us for living.
