MUMBAI (Reuters) - India's gold demand was low on Friday as prices remained firm on news of supply problems in a big mining company and firmer crude oil, but traders waited to buy on dips in the local market, dealers said. "Its very, very dull," said Ganesh Agarwal of Shiv Sahai & Sons in Chennai. "There will be sales only if prices come down around $850 an ounce." Traders said their clients were buying in bits usually at dips as the wedding season had cranked up retail sales, though imported gold competed with the cheaper local stocks built up due to sale of scrap jewellery. "People are not comfortable at current levels, but there is buying at dips," said S.K. Jindal, director of Jindal Dychem, a large trading house based in New Delhi. Jindal and Agarwal said the dip earlier this week to around $885 level had pushed sales. A new study has discovered that a problem in eye blinking conditioning (EBC) may aid in identifying children who have been exposed to alcohol while in the womb. The discovery would identify children possibly affected by foetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) and also those who do not have distinctive FAS features. The study led by Sandra W. Jacobson, a professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioural neurosciences at Wayne State University School of Medicine, also stated that all the children who have been exposed to alcohol show distinctive facial anomalies associated with FAS.
