Using a technology called MIMIEO, students at Northwestern University are polling thousands of people in the days leading up to and during the February 24th ABC broadcast of the 80th Annual Academy Awards.Participants will be asked to rate each Oscar nominated movie ad, as well as rate how likely they are to go see the movie. • Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Lorry Driver? Facebook, Apparently.
I, like pretty much every man, woman, child, cat, dog and mouse in the country, am something of a Facebook addict. Sure, I can deny it - and always claim that time spent on it in the office is invaluable networking time (even when networking involves playing a rip off of Scrabble with old friends) - but there's something of a compulsive delight in spying on old acquaintances and seeing what they're up to. Then of course, there's the communities... so many improbably named Facebook groups with even more improbable numbers of members. Everything from 'The Drunken Text Message Appreciation Society' to 'A Cup of Tea Solves Everything'is represented, and more are springing up every day. Naturally my career at a freight exchange means I have an above average interest in lorries and lorry drivers, so it stands to reason that one day this would collide with my other life-sapping obsessive interest - Facebook. I began looking through the various pages, and was more than a little surprised by th

This is not a joke; Yahoo is really going to fire its employees soon. Yahoo is currently having approximately 14,000 workers and it is believed that the company has drawn up a list of 2,500 jobs that could be eliminated. It has grown from relative obscurity to its current position as the second largest social networking website on the internet in terms of traffic (with MySpace being the very large first place social networking website). Facebook itself was actually initially called thefacebook and was started as a hobby website at Harvard University. As the website itself became well received and people started to tell their friends about it, thefacebook spread to other University campuses across the country and then eventually spread internationally. When the website became so popular, the name was changed to Facebook and the domain name of facebook.com was purchased for upwards of $200,000 American.Founder Of FacebookConsidering the small bit of history mentioned in the preceding paragraph, it should come as no surprise that the founder of Facebook was a student at Harvard University. • How To Unblock Facebook ?
Social networking is the biggest craze in the English speaking world today. Whenever a person logs onto Facebook or any other social networking service, they have the ability to network with their friends, meet new people and just generally enjoy themselves.Because of the web nature of this service, many people have been accessing social networking sites from work and many companies estimate that they have lost a very significant amount of revenue because of lost productivity that stems right from the overuse of Facebook and other social networking websites at work. In an effort to combat this loss of productivity, many companies have blocked access to these websites in the hopes that it will bring productivity back up to acceptable levels. As you are about to see, this is not always a problem.Social networking is a big niche at the moment and in big niches there is always the tendency to develop technology to solve problems very quickly. • Facebook Proxies: Another Alternative
Another way to access the website would be through the utilization of a Facebook proxy. The term proxy as it relates to social networking websites such as Facebook has two meanings but the meaning we are most concerned with in this article is the proxy that allows you to access the Facebook website in spite of a block.Rather than working to remove the block and therefore allow you to access the website by typing the URL into your browser, the proxy concept is quite a bit different. It attempts to circumvent the block and actually keep the block in place. This is done by accessing the Facebook service through a different server. This server, referred to as a proxy server, is a server that is not easily identifiable as being a Facebook server (and indeed is not owned by Facebook) and therefore is difficult to block with the software most companies and schools useWhen you consider all of the different options available to people today, it seems almost futile that people would attempt to b
