  • Heart Failure Remix Contest - First Wave of Remixes
These aren’t all the remixes we received, but they are the top remixes so far. If you submitted a remix that is not present in this first wave of remixes then you did not make the cut. Sorry! Keep working at your craft. A lot of the submissions we received had the vocals plopped over any old part of the beat. That ain’t gonna work. You have to know where the words are supposed to fall within the context of the beat. There’s still time to submit your remix and we’re waiting on a couple more heavy hitters! Check details for the contest here. Buddy Peace Remix: DJ Extend Remix: Mikal kHill Remix: RPM Remix: Varick Pyr Remix:
  • Nancy Pelosi Claims the Surge is a Failure, al Qaeda Disagrees
While most people, including John Murtha, have admitted that the surge is working, Nancy Pelosi is still holding firm to the idea that it has been a failure. She ignores the fact that Anbar province, which was the worst section of Iraq, has been handed over to Iraqi forces. She also must be unaware of the report that [...]

  • Bill Belichick Wasn't a Complete Failure in Cleveland
Editor's Note: Multiple posts today! Scroll down to see my quick take of the Clemens Report. If you subscribed to my RSS feed, you wouldn't have to worry about missing posts on multiple posts days. Hint hint.Joe Posnanski is a Cleveland native and the author of The Soul of Baseball, which is the story of a year in the life of Buck O'Neil. It's a fantastic book, and I need to review it on this site someday.Anyways, Posnanski has a blog that is becoming increasingly popular among those in the baseball and sports blogospheres. In a recent post he explains that while his time in Cleveland wasn't perfect, Bill Belichick wasn't a complete failure with the Cleveland Browns.
  • Failure Friday: Titanic
No, this is not the Titanic but the movie Titanic. Both were doomed from the start, but only one sank. If you remember, the industry was touting James Cameron’s a monumental flop, the next Waterworld. A bloated budget and out of control shooting schedule was sure to doom the famous ship twice. I’ll let Wikipedia explain: Filming [...]
  • Google Video a Complete Failure?
Apparently, google Video has been a complete failure compared with the vestibule property of Google, YouTube, and have decided is taken leave of him. The company of Mountain View has announced that at the moment is going to stop offering payment by vision and rent of films through Google Video and that the clients will receive compensations in the form of vouchers or bonds in other services, as well as economic returns. The intention of Google is, right now, to concentrate itself in YouTube and to give priority, at the same time as to find a system him adapted to place contextual publicity in the vestibule without it affects to the day day of the community, a problem that the Californian company takes enough dragging during time. The main problem is that the unloaded films of Google Video to the PC are not visible in ipod or television, and that affects the flexibility of the format. Google Video has not managed to attract people according to its forecasts. The gratuitous videos will c
  • Modifying immune system may reduce death-risk in heart failure patients
According to a new study, modification of the immune system of a patient with heart failure, cuts down the risk of the patient’s death and the need for hospitalisation.   The study, led by Dr. Guillermo Torre-Amione, cardiologist at the Methodist DeBakey Heart Centre in Houston, stated that immune modulation therapy could provide a new way of treatment for patients with heart failure.   “Immune modulation therapy could provide physicians with a new way of treating large numbers of patients with heart failure,” said Torre.   The activation of the immune system in patients with systolic heart failure boosts the concentration of molecules, which can injure the heart in a way that leads to heart failure.   The finding reveals that modification of this immune response is an appealing potential therapy for many patients with heart failure.   The technique involves intentionally damaging some of the patient’s blood cells to trick the body in
  • Failure Friday: Cheese
Cheese, glorious cheese. Or so says the Dairy Council. But it is general believed that cheese was made by a failure in ancient milk storing practices. From Wikipedia.org: Since animal skins and inflated internal organs have, since ancient times, provided storage vessels for a range of foodstuffs, it is probable that the process of cheese making [...]

  • Failure Friday: Christmas Day - December 25th
Ah…Christmas is in the air. Not here in Houston (its 78 degrees today), but still. It’s in the air. At least I hope that’s what I smell… But as we approach the big day, I’ve always wondered. Why December 25th? Was that Jesus’ Birthday? Well… from AllAboutJesusChrist.org (where else?): The Bible itself tells us that December 25 [...]
  • Are You Focusing on SUCCESS or Failure?
As I travel around the World speaking with people, this is the number one question I'm asked. Yes I did say around the world!! I have had the Opportunity this year to visit some of the most amazing places and speak with some of the most amazing people. Just last week I was in Brazil on business counseling one of my Platinum Students, and while taking the opportunity to relax and celebrate, on the Copacabana Beach, I was speaking with a developer. Our conversation focused on the state of the dollar and all the reasons why we are in trouble. Now I'm not saying the dollar is not looking bad, I am asking, how can we focus on using this condition to our Benefit? (Success)Since our subject is Real Estate, let's focus on the "Success Factor" that exists now due to the current conditions. Banks are emendated with non performing assets (houses)! On the front page of The Atlanta Journal Constitution on Oct. 16, 2007 "$1,076,975,783" was the total estimated value of properties now entering forecl

  • Failure Friday: Potato Chips
First off, the most obvious failure I need to point out today is the lack of a post yesterday. One thousand apologies for a hectic day that sidetracked me enough to forego my blog. Shame…SHAME! • Success and Failure
What an incredible week it’s been. Last Friday I attended the NAGC (National Association for Gifted Children) Award on behalf of Talented Young People and was honoured to pick up the award for ‘Most Supportive Individual’ which was presented by the Duchess of Gloucester at the Ironmongers hall a venue in which they have filmed scenes for the popular Harry Potter film franchise. On the flipside it has been one of the worst weeks for our national game here in England that being football or soccer depending on where you come from.We here at Talented Young People aren’t doing what we are doing to win awards and it isn’t what drives our organisation but it is great to be recognised by such a brilliant well known organisation and to know that their staff, members, volunteers and children they help think we are doing a great job. As well as the awards the event provided a great chance to network with many professionals and volunteers within the NAGC and other organisations set up to

  • Failure Friday: The Pilgrims
This edition of Failure Friday isn’t a story of a complete failure. More a tale of potential failure. One I call “Plymouth Rocks (um…not so much)”. The pilgrims landed in the New World, trying to escape religious persecution in England. Their timing and preparation were pretty bad. From Wikipedia: On December 21, 1620, the first landing party [...]

  • General Pervez Musharraf declares martial law, yet another failure for US foreign policy
If one wishes to understand the hypocrisy, short term opportunism and gross stupidity of the United States foreign policy, one need look no further than the current brouhaha in Pakistan. Where General Pervez Musharraf the mockney President of that misbegotten land has declared a state of emergency, which in reality means martial law. His political opponents among them Javed Hashmi, the acting president of the Muslim League (N), the party of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif; cricket star-turned politician, Imran Khan; Asma Jehangir, chairman of the independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan; and Hamid Gul, former chief of the main intelligence agency and a vocal critic of Musharraf, have all been thrown in jail along with anyone within the State bureaucracy who has a history of opposing Washington favorite satrap. TV stations bar the one the General controls are off the air, as to are some mobile phone networks. That Benazir Bhutto is not amongst those arrested I fear shows that

  • Ratatouille is a "Horrible, dismal failure"
Around July 1 this year, Ratatouille had just opened in the US and had grossed around $47.2 million. "What a horrible, horrible disappointment," said Fred Pessimisto, a major financial industry guy. "What can you buy with $47 million these days? Diddly and squat, that's what. They need to just pull this clunker out of theaters and make room for something that can do the job." says DisneyLies. Oh, how the analysts couldn't have been more wrong. They were so very terribly wrong, I bet they are all kicking themselves right now. It gives me great pleasure to bring this piece news to you. "Ratatouille" continued to feast at the international box office, cooking up its fifth straight weekend victory with $14.5 million at 4,381 playdates in 29 markets. reports Variety. It has now grossed $371.8 million in the non-US box office and $577 million worldwide. Can it earn $55 million more to surpass the worldwide box office of The Incredibles? • The U.S. Counter-propaganda Failure in Iraq
The coalition has failed to counter enemy propaganda either by responding rapidly with effective counter messages or by proactively challenging the messages, methods, and ideology that the insurgents and extremists promote and exploit. While terminology may vary—some officials refer to information operations as strategic communications, influence operations, psychological operations, perception management, or just propaganda—the intent to influence the hearts and minds of target audiences through the effective use of information remains constant. In Iraq, while the coalition fumbles its information operations, the insurgents and militia groups are adept at releasing timely messages to undermine support for the Iraqi government and bolster their own perceived potency. They are quick to exploit coalition failures and excesses; they respond rapidly to defend their own actions, often by shifting blame to the authorities; and they hijack coalition successes to argue that change only occur

  • Iran Worried About Syria's Air Defense Failure; IAF Strike
Iran should be worried. This air defense system they keep boasting about was completely useless when Israeli jets bombed a Syrian weapons cache (nuclear and/or conventional). Israel was, for the most part, able to fly all over Syria with ease. The Syrians had no idea anything was going on until the bombs fell. Iran uses and is purchasing more of the same air defense system Syria uses. With all the failures you would think it was made in China, but no, they are from Russia. Iran is concerned over the failure of Syria's air defense systems to detect the Israel Air Force non-stealth aircraft that reportedly carried out an attack inside Syria last month, the American weekly Aviation Week reported on its Web site on Wednesday. According to the report, Israel was able to disrupt Syria's radar and air defense systems and render them ineffective during the IAF strike. The Web site reported that Israel used an electronic device, installed in a plane that circled the area, to disrupt Syria

  • HRC And "Return On Failure"
This links to a whole bunch of polls conducted up until last month that show Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York as the leader of the field of Democratic nominees for the party nomination to run for president next year. However, this shows that Survey USA has found that John Edwards is the strongest Democratic nominee among the field for the contests in Iowa and Missouri and tells us that he competes favorably in southern and Midwestern states. And I know it’s no surprise to see our media beating the drum for Hillary and just about handing her the nomination, which thus allows them once more to dig into all of the dirt from the prior Clinton presidency (and also affording David Broder the opportunity to engage in more of his voyeuristic “state of the Clintons’ marriage” columns).I don’t pretend to be any kind of a political guru, but all I know is that this won’t mean a whole lot if John Edwards wins Iowa, an eminently attainable goal, and shows strongly in subsequent primaries.
  • Canadian MP Seeks Cancer Treatment In U.S. (Universal Healthcare Failure)
As Hillary is proposing a universal healthcare program (i.e. socialist gov't), we are given this recent news about a member of the Canadian parliament seeking cancer treatment in the United States. Apparently; this isn't the first time Canadians with money have come across the border to seek treatment. I urge you to go to the article and read the comments. You find Canadians commenting on how "broken" the universal healthcare system really is. It is being twisted to appear like a personal attack against the MP, it's not, it's pointing out the failures of universal healthcare. Liberal MP Belinda Stronach, who is battling breast cancer, travelled to California last June for an operation that was recommended as part of her treatment, says a report. Stronach's spokesman, Greg MacEachern, told the Toronto Star that the MP for Newmarket-Aurora had a "later-stage" operation in the U.S. after a Toronto doctor referred her. "Belinda had one of her later-stage operations in California, af
  • Stop Being a Failure and Start Failing!
At AskJoelComm.com there are numerous videos of Joel teaching seminars of how to use Adsense. I logged in earlier today and I saw a great video about failure. The internet right now is so saturated in things that users just do on the side, for fun, and especially to make money. When beginners or noobs try to make money online they just jump right into it without further learning. Well the video I am about to show you is straight to the point. It shows top reason why first time entrepreneurs tend to fail. Without failure that means you have reached the end of success. Everyone would be successful, there would be no competition. Failure is Part of Success. You hear gurus tell their stories about making multiple mistakes, doing case studies, and split testing. IF they do not do these they will not know where to start, you simply just can’t jump into college and come out the next day with out a degree. It is all about dedication and making simple mistakes. But failing at what you w

  • The Greek Wars: The Failure of Persia
Author: George CawkwellPaperback: 236 pagesPublisher: Oxford University Press, USA (June 2005)Language: EnglishISBN: 0198148712(R)The Greek Wars treats of the whole course of Persian relations with the Greeks from the coming of Cyrus in the 540s down to Alexander the Great's defeat of Darius III in 331 BC. Cawkwell discusses from a Persian perspective major questions such as why Xerxes' invasion of Greece failed, and how important a part the Great King played in Greek affairs in the fourth century. Cawkwell's views are at many points original: in particular, his explanation of how and why the Persian invasion of Greece failed challenges the prevailing orthodoxy, as does his view of the importance of Persia in Greek affairs for the two decades after the King's Peace. Persia, he concludes, was destroyed by Macedonian military might but moral decline had no part in it; the Macedonians who had subjected Greece were too good an army, but their victory was not easy.
