How the hell does or is Miley Cyrus even close to getting a star? Actors and Actresses go their whole life without getting a star until they are dead and she at all of what 15 is about to get one? What a load of crap!! Those stars used to mean something like you were an established actor, not some tween star from the Dumnsey channel. That just pisses me off to no ends. It just goes to show you the state that Hollywood is in. RMStringer +++++++++++++++++++++++ "We are all geniuses when we dream" - E.M. Cioran Subscribe to my Posts...

Andy Warhol predicted that everyone would 'get their 15 minutes of fame'. Thanks to my friends at Covestor, my name was forwarded to Tim Paradis who writes business stories for the Associated Press.I was interviewed as an "amateur investor" which I believe fairly accurately reflects my activity :). It was fun to get some publicity, but I hope I haven't used up all of my minutes. Maybe there are a few left. Meanwhile, back to blogging.P.S., you can view the article here.Bob

From: DaveTo: Kanka10:28 AMHall of Fame announcements are today. Here's my ballot:In:Goose Gossage. Having not lived through his era, I didn't realize his greatness until I really started reading about him. Lots of things that can't be captured through today's conventional game.Jack Morris. If I have to explain this again this year, then you clearly haven't been paying attention to my emails the last few years.Close but no cigar:Jim Rice. I wouldn't have a big problem if he got in, since he did have some dominant years, but I don't know enough about him.Andre Dawson. He was really good, but when people say they're voting for him, they inevitably say, "he'd be a shoe-in if he wasn't hurt all the time." Going from virtual obscurity to being one of the most recognizable faces in pop music can be a tough adjustment. Just ask Rihanna. The “Umbrella” singer recently got real about the dark side of being world famous. And she revealed that her success has led to a newfound loneliness. She confessed, “Fame is lonely. At first, I was on an adrenaline high - this is my dream. I’m actually doing it; it didn’t faze me that I was alone, that I wasn’t with the people I love. But after a while it gets repetitive and that is when you think, ‘Oh wow, I am sitting in a hotel room once again, just me and the television.’” Rihanna quickly realized that success is only surface deep. “When you are in the spotlight, people are like, ‘What do you have to worry about?’ They forget that the success is one great aspect of your life, but behind that there are problems, there are dark sides, there is loneliness and unhappiness.”E-Source
A consummate career spanning from unparalleled poetic genius to musical charisma, Montréal's own Leonard Cohen has hit the high mark. He is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Cohen joins the new batch of inductees for 2008 who are Madonna, The Dave Clark Five, The Ventures and John Mellencamp. He shares the honour with a myriad of other globally influential artists who have made an impact in rock n' roll.
With his first release suitably titled, Songs of Leonard Cohen, and his thought provoking pieces of poetry and novels, he was launched into the limelight of prominent, musical icons. His songs made such an impact that several of them were covered by artists like Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley, Bono and Rufus Wainwright.
Sometimes accompanied by female backup vocalists, his bottomless, baritone voice was bold, his persona reeking of charm. Along with this recent induction, he has also been added to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Canadian Songwriter

Another shooting again this time at a mall I hate hearing stories like this. I don’t really like even writing about them. It seems to becoming more common now people all of sudden just shooting people. What a selfish act this guy did shoot all these people and then shoot himself. Why shoot others I don’t know why if you want shoot yourself ok that is not a good idea but shooting others is wrong. Some reports saying he did the shooting because he knew it would make him famous. He is right it did make him famous because all the news networks are talking about it. I do worry about this happening more often with shootings because people wanting fame to become famous too. - My Blog Guns Laws & Mental Issues - My Blog Virginia Tech Shooting

Oh my~~~ I bumped into notorious Chuwit Kamolvisit yesterday~!! I was coming out from a condo deep inside Sukhumvit 24 when I spotted him. "Khun Chuwit~!!" I greeted him. "Do you remember me? I interviewed you during the general election campaign before~!!" He searched my face for a while and said, "Yes, yes I remember you... You're from the newspaper, right?" I swear I could feel my grin spread from ear-to-ear (should I be flattered he remembered me~?!). "Yes, I came with my editor to see you, the big farang guy~!!" "You still a journalist?" he asked. "Oh no, I quit already," I said. (And I swear as soon as I said this, he seemed to relax more ha ha ha - I wonder whyyyyy). "What do you do now?" he asked. "I just opened a language school in Thonglo," I said. "You got a name card?" he asked. (I internally kicked my own ass in my mind~!!) "Erm, no... My school just newly opened... I haven't gotten a chance to make any name cards..." He took out his wallet and gave me his name ...
The fear of poverty and obscurity runs deep in the minds of many women. Decisions to marry, leave a career, provide sacrificial support of a spouse's career, raise children and caring for family are some of the reasons women find themselves in vulnerable situations. "[O]ver their working lifetimes, women spend a total of 11 ½ years off the job on average, versus only 16 months for men."*One woman's tale of fame ended in extreme poverty. Jane Avril, a famous Parisian can-can dancer was one of the most famous dancers of her time. You've probably seen her depicted in Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's posters or as Nicole Kidman's character in the 2001 movie, Moulin Rouge. She was a woman everyone adored and she brought in large crowds as she performed on stage. Yet, when she died, she had no money and no support.Jane stopped dancing when she married a German artist and became pregnant. She cut herself off from her previous career and did not have a suitable replacement way to earn money.Have y

Recently I was sat at my local train station and I saw a billboard advert for a book by Ben Elton titled ‘Chart Throb’. The book I believe is a comical / satirical look at reality TV shows like Pop Idol and X-Factor with a fictionalised story based on the people who enter, are involved in or watch these programmes. I am yet to read a copy but after doing some research I have found out that this book has been out for some time but has recently been released in to paperback.I may one day pick up a copy as it sounds like an interesting book but it wasn’t the story that got me interested in this billboard it was the tag line at the bottom of the billboard which caught my eye which read ‘Fame Junkies’. This got me thinking and the more I thought about it the more I agreed with it. We are now living in a society where it seems that everyone is a fame junkie and wants their five minutes of fame.People now no longer care about being talented or being good at something they just care
For all the bile I spew at the Lions, I sometimes forget that there were players on the Lions, despite the team's constant pratfalls, of whom I was a huge fan.Barry Sanders was one. He's the only Lion I ever had a jersey of, and still have, as a matter of fact. My number 20 Sanders jersey is my favorite piece of clothing, worn every Sunday of the football season. As an adult, I know it's silly, but I guess it's may way of showing Barry how he made this Lions fan Sunday's bearable. But as a kid growing up in the 70's, my favorite Lion was Charlie Sanders. In Saturday's Drew Sharp column, he described, as a kid playing in the snow, trying to make the same sort of circus catches Sanders made look easy. To be honest, I'd do the same exact thing with couch cushions piled up on the basement floor. We all wanted to emulate Charlie Sanders.Without question, Charlie Sanders was the best tight end I ever saw play. You youngsters don't know what you missed...In my mind, Sanders was the bes
Duran Duran have come up with a name for their new album, with its hint-of-desperation collaborations with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. (They should have gone for Tim Burgess, too. We'd forgive them for a Timberlake-Timbaland-Timburgess trio.)It's called Red Carpet Massacre, which they probably think is clever but really just underlines how limited their world is.

Not too long ago I posted a review of a wonderful Lego book, Forbidden Lego by Ulrik Pilegaard, and Mike Dooley and published by No Starch Press.
While the books not due out until later in the summer (I can’t wait, by the way) I thought an interview with one of the authors would help to keep the hoards of Lego fans satisfied until this book is available for general consumption.
Without further ado, I bring you an interview with Ulrik Pilegaard, one of the incredibly nice guys who wrote Forbidden Lego.
What was the first interesting creation you made from Legos that didn’t come with a set of instructions or from a kit?
I was crazy about building cars with front wheel steering and rear wheel suspension. That was before LEGO made a spring so I remember I used rubber bands to make the rear suspension work. Later I found out that a spring from a ball point pen actually worked great when sitting on a LEGO Technic cross axle. So when I started at LEGO I just had to build a me
