  • Mario Vargas Llosa: The Feast of the Goat
Francisco Goldman reviews Mario Vargas Llosa's The Feast of the Goat. The Feast of the Goat, nearly documentary in tone, is a dense, dramatic, at times almost unbearably cruel and relentless political novel. It belongs to the illustrious tradition of the Latin American–dictator novel, in this case the Trujillo dictatorship in the Dominican Republic. But it is also a culmination of two searches
  • Microsoft discover Valentines Day not a movable feast
What a lovely idea it must have been: a special edition Valentine's Day Zune. Trouble is, Microsoft have managed to screw up the plans and now some people aren't going to have the music players in time for the most romantic day of the year.Okay, that's a little unfair. Valentine's day isn't especially romantic in the first place, because if you need to be pushed by Hallmark to tell someone you love them, you might have a romance deficiency.Still, Redmond have offered to give purchasers of the late Zunes their money back; and, if you do manage to forget the 14th, you can always tell your fuming beloved that you'd ordered a Microsoft Zune and it's Steve Ballmer's fault you've turned up empty-handed.Assuming, of course, your date won't be more annoyed you'd have tried to palm them off with a Zune in the first place.
  • Feast of Love - 2007
Feast of Love - trailer Feast of LoveProducţie: USA, 2007Gen: Drama / RomanceRegia: Robert BentonDistribuţia: Morgan Freeman, Greg Kinnear, Radha MitchellDescarcă aici ---> Subtitrare Feast of LovePublicat de Kralizec © ST subs.ro TEAM[sursa: cinemagia.ro]Comentarii pe forumul subs.ro

WoW, Casually: December 14 to 20 and Feast of Winter VeilFiled under: Events, PvP, WoW, Casually, Battlegrounds Each week, Robin Torres writes WoW, Casually for the player who has 2 hours or less to play at a time. The weather outside may be frightful, but the Feast of Winter Veil begins Saturday which is always delightful. Well, the weather isn't frightful where I live, but I used to live where there are those season-things, so I feel for you in my high 60s and sunny. Really, I do.Of course, the seasons don't change in Azeroth either, but the weekly Call to Arms bonus weekends do. This week it's Eye of the Storm. My EotS tip for this week is: let the Wookiee win. Er, let the Droods run with the flag. Otherwise, they're going to spend all their time whining in BG chat about how slow Ghostwolf form is, etc. Seriously, life's too short to listen to all that bellyaching -- though I suppose there's not much else to whine about in EotS. I mean, this is a Battleground where standing arou

Happy feast day to all. And some words of wisdom: Let nothing trouble or afflict thee. Am I not here,I who am thy Mother? Thou art beneath my shadow and protection. And am not I life and health? In my lap art thou, and counted as mine. What more dost thou need? I shall show my tender clemency for those who love and seek me, for all who implore my protection, who call on me in their labors and afflictions. - - Our Lady of Guadalupe to Juan Diego I also wanted to share this great video from Love to be Catholic: God bless, Jay
  • Feast of our patron Immaculate Concepcion
Last day that was December 8 Baranggay Bulua celebrated the feast of Immaculate Concepcion. I would say that Bulua is one of the biggest Baranggay in Cagayan de Oro City; there are twelve zones in this Baranggay and our house is located at Zone-8 sea side. The Baranggay officials offer lots of activities to the people to have fun and enjoy the feast. December 6 there was a coronation night for “Mutya ng Bulua” held at Bulua gym. The youth also enjoyed the disco party and singing contest. Friday night we’re too busy cleaning the house, washing dishes in preparation for the feast. At the morning of the feast there was a mass at the church and a procession of the patron Immaculate Concepcion. Sad to say I wasn’t able to join the said procession, I and my sister are too busy with the household task. For me the mass is very important but I was not there, huhuhu. When the feast come our relatives, neighbors, family friends, co-workers and friends joined us for lunch to thank o

Appetizer What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride? I have never been one for amusement parks or carnivals because I don't like being in crowds. However, the few times I did go, I would always gravitate towards the roller coasters. The bigger and scarier the better. Soup How do you react in uncomfortable social situations? I tend to become very quiet. I am a very shy and nervous person. Salad On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy discussing deep, philosophical topics? I would have to say an 8. That is one of the things I miss about the UU Fellowship that I used to go to. It was lay led so each week one of us would get up there and give a talk on a different philosophical/spiritual topic. Then afterwards there was always a huge discussion on the topic. It was nice since it was a very small setting. It took me a few months before I could really speak out there. After awhile, I was even one of the people getting up and

I would have to say wonderful smelling flowers and yummy chocolate! SoupDo you collect anything?I collect tarot decks. I stopped counting when I reached 100 decks. It's the Salvador Dali deck. Last time I priced it, it was $100. SaladWhen do you start your Christmas? We tend to start it the morning of. I know alot of people who celebrate Christmas Eve. • My Thanksgiving Feast
(originally posted Nov.22, 2006)  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year. It’s all about family and friends and just being thankful for everything that we have. I used to deliver the patients to the different areas of the hospital. It was strenuous work, but I loved it. SoupWhere would you go if you wanted to spark your creativity? I either go sit in front of the computer or sit in my room. It depends on my mood I guess. • The Feast of The Exaltation of the Cross
Today is the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. For many Catholics it is just another feast day. Yet what is the reason for feast days (another article, for another time)? Why did the Church feel compelled to create this feast day? What is its significance to you and me? The origin of this feast is a little cloudy, most Church historians trace it back to Pope Sergius I (687-701). It originally commemorated the recovery of the True Cross from the Persians who had taken it (or at least a portion of it). However, over time the feast also became linked to the finding of the True Cross by St. Helena. Today we commemorate both events. Down through the ages, Catholics have always felt it necessary to honor the cross, as the instrument of our salvation. This feast calls us to rejoice in that reality, both from a salvific prespective and in its material presence - the True Cross. Pope Benedict in meditating on the Cross wrote: Looked at more deeply this sign, which forces us to look at th

  • Skype Offers A 7 Day Feast To Their Users
Skype has decided to provide free telephony service for a period of seven days to their customers. This measure comes as a move to take away any dissatisfaction that its customers might be facing due to disruption in their service sometime last week. About a million users of Skype were logged out last week for 2-3 days after a major Skype outrage. Skype provides internet telephony service through peer to peer technology. This also means that in a peer to peer technology where one is both a server and client, in case of failure of one the other would automatically take its place. However this sudden outrage has proved otherwise.According to Skype this sudden outrage was caused when its users downloaded a Microsoft patch which lead to their computers being restarted. As a result a chain reaction ensued with Skype server being over loaded with log-in requests from its users. Customers were unable to connect from Thursday and were finally able to log-in on Saturday. This disruption tremendo

BiteClub was on again tonight and I could hardly wait to see what Michael and Tony were organising. Summer in Sydney is a fantastic time of the year. This year, its taken a while for it to get going. But finally, you can feel and smell it in the air!!! Some might wonder about the strange title for this blog entry. You see Michael and Tony have this cactus in their backyard that has actually sprouted some flowers. And one of our friends who joined BiteClub as a special guest, Mark, who actually works with plants, explained that it's rare when a cactus blooms. Apparently the flowwers don't last long. So of course everyone who arrived was immediately drawn to this beauty. And we got ready for a feast. Al fresco dining was the order of the evening. We started with plates of home made artichoke heart and lemon dip, prosciutto, mortadella and fresh figs and Michael's secret home made chicken liver pate. All accompanied with lavosh and grissini.
