Last day that was December 8 Baranggay Bulua celebrated the feast of Immaculate Concepcion. I would say that Bulua is one of the biggest Baranggay in Cagayan de Oro City; there are twelve zones in this Baranggay and our house is located at Zone-8 sea side. The Baranggay officials offer lots of activities to the people to have fun and enjoy the feast. December 6 there was a coronation night for “Mutya ng Bulua” held at Bulua gym. The youth also enjoyed the disco party and singing contest. Friday night we’re too busy cleaning the house, washing dishes in preparation for the feast.At the morning of the feast there was a mass at the church and a procession of the patron Immaculate Concepcion. Sad to say I wasn’t able to join the said procession, I and my sister are too busy with the household task. For me the mass is very important but I was not there, huhuhu. Today is the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross. For many Catholics it is just another feast day. Yet what is the reason for feast days (another article, for another time)? Why did the Church feel compelled to create this feast day? What is its significance to you and me?
The origin of this feast is a little cloudy, most Church historians trace it back to Pope Sergius I (687-701). It originally commemorated the recovery of the True Cross from the Persians who had taken it (or at least a portion of it). However, over time the feast also became linked to the finding of the True Cross by St. Helena. Today we commemorate both events. Down through the ages, Catholics have always felt it necessary to honor the cross, as the instrument of our salvation. This feast calls us to rejoice in that reality, both from a salvific prespective and in its material presence - the True Cross.

Skype has decided to provide free telephony service for a period of seven days to their customers. This measure comes as a move to take away any dissatisfaction that its customers might be facing due to disruption in their service sometime last week. About a million users of Skype were logged out last week for 2-3 days after a major Skype outrage. Skype provides internet telephony service through peer to peer technology. This also means that in a peer to peer technology where one is both a server and client, in case of failure of one the other would automatically take its place. However this sudden outrage has proved otherwise.According to Skype this sudden outrage was caused when its users downloaded a Microsoft patch which lead to their computers being restarted. As a result a chain reaction ensued with Skype server being over loaded with log-in requests from its users. BiteClub was on again tonight and I could hardly wait to see what Michael and Tony were organising. Summer in Sydney is a fantastic time of the year. This year, its taken a while for it to get going. But finally, you can feel and smell it in the air!!! Some might wonder about the strange title for this blog entry. You see Michael and Tony have this cactus in their backyard that has actually sprouted some flowers. And one of our friends who joined BiteClub as a special guest, Mark, who actually works with plants, explained that it's rare when a cactus blooms. Apparently the flowwers don't last long. So of course everyone who arrived was immediately drawn to this beauty. And we got ready for a feast. Al fresco dining was the order of the evening. We started with plates of home made artichoke heart and lemon dip, prosciutto, mortadella and fresh figs and Michael's secret home made chicken liver pate. All accompanied with lavosh and grissini. After a quick break, we were re
