It was mounted on cardboard and the frame was attached. Easy, creative and functional. Oh yeah, cheap too!The frame to the right (for the teenager's room) was another cheap wood frame painted to match the room with a metallic paint. Had a chance to get the next frame up... one more and the transom to go. Also re-strung the tarp tie-down so that it can easily cover the entire length instead of just half, now that the boat is longer :-)
The next frame should be fairly easy... the transom (2 pieces, port and starboard) will be harder since both pieces have to be propped up accurately in three dimensions at an angle.
I'm not sure I want to think on that one right now.

Well, after the good luck with Frame E, tonight I moved on to Frame F, my other "problem child". This one actually came out even better than Frame E. I had been dreading both of these, since they just didn't seem "right" when I tried to lay them out before.
They weren't, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought.
Frame F had a couple of pieces wrong by about a 1/4-1/2", but in every case they were too big. You know, it's much easier to cut something down than try to add to it :-)
Got the pieces laid out, trimmed up and then stuck together.
This covers a couple of milestones.
This frame is the widest frame of the boat.
This is the last full width frame I have left to glue up.
The only other frame type member are the transom(s). They are built about the same, but since its split across the motor well, they are only a couple of feet wide and solid panel with 1x4 backing.

Got one of my "problem" frames glued up Thursday night. Wound up that once I got it down on a work surface (a uncut piece of MDO) and carefully measured things out, I found that it wasn't nearly as far "off" as I thought. Thankfully, most of the "wrong" places were oversize and could be trimmed down instead of the opposite. One place had a gap that I was able to fill with epoxy. I glued it all up, leaving the gap and then filled in the epoxy in the gap today between some other activities. Looks like it will work well.
I'm beginning to find other uses for this epoxy stuff :-) I had a couple of places on the new deck handrails (that's been the other project in the last week or so) that needed some filling... had a little epoxy left in the last batch, so used it back there. I think it will work well.

Picked up a handful of 2x3's at the local Lowes store (home improvement type store) last night for bracing and erecting frames. I had never found 2x3's before... they work for what I want and are slightly cheaper than 2x4's.

Last night I got my nemesis, Frame G, re-done, finally... this is the one that I had all together so nicely and then found I had it backwards. Of course it may have been for the best... I found that I had a measurement slightly off which could have bothered me later and I got it fixed this time throught, so...

Tuesday night (couple of days ago) I got another frames assembled. This it the first I've really succeeded with that wasn't a "bulkhead". This design has some "bulkheads" that are pretty much solid sheets of ply with 1x4 frames at the edges. Other frames are mostly open with the 1x4's being the major part and just some smaller pieces of ply serving as stiffeners/gussets that also extend up to support interior fittings. Its a good way to make the ply pieces serve multiple rolls. Anyway, I put one of these together before, but got it wrong.
This one I got right. Going ahead and adding the temporary crosspiece at the top BEFORE gluing make it a lot easier.
FYI... if you haven't seen a bag of Cabosil before, here's a pic... I'm using it to thicken the epoxy and it seems to work well. Weird stuff... seems to weigh nothing.
