For the Chinese New Year, he proposes a wok chicken ginger stir fry! As you can imagine, living with a food blogger is truly a delight, menus don't get boring and we talk a lot about food, tastes and techniques. Perhaps the only downside is that we sometimes eat cold because we have to take so many pictures before we can actually eat! ;-) But it's for a good cause... Nevertheless, I do have a couple of cooking skills of my own. As some may know, I am from Quebec, a land of potatoes and meat pies which also offers a surprisingly good variety of international products. I guess it's a side effect of having such a short history (when compared to Europe or Asia): we imported and integrated a lot of culinary tastes from abroad. My family was no exception and for some unknown reason, wo

What are 5 top tips for fashionistas who want to go green?
1. Whenever possible, buy products made with organic, sustainable, and/or reclaimed materials. This is particularly easy when shopping for layering basics like tank tops; American Apparel, for example, has some great organic items. But there are more and more online boutiques offering chic organic clothes - check out ShopModify.com and Fashion-Conscience.com! And Beau Soleil makes gorgeous organic cotton and bamboo dresses.2. Buy from small, up-and-coming designers. They usually craft and sew all the pieces themselves, which, unlike factory-made apparel , creates zero pollution. Etsy.com is a fantastic online resource, brimming with skilled designers. 3. Try to find products that give back to the community in some way. TOMS Shoes, for example, sells really cute, Argentinian-inspired flats and donates a pair of shoes to a needy child every time they make a sale! 4. Back away from the trash can! Just because you no longer like la

First up for me is my current favourite band, Late of the Pier. I openly admit it doesnt take me very long to be completely in love with a new band, and this group of lads are no different. Hailing from Castle Donnington, there is some serious hype surrounding this lot (they are averaging 800 myspace plays a day), and they have some good people behind them too. Erol Alkan is producing the debut album, and this heavy slab of indie-electro goodness is out now on Moshi Moshi: (Ed: I've blogged this before but it is bloody good) MP3: Late Of The Pier: Bathroom Gurgle I saw this next lady at Sheperds Bush in London last week and thoroughly enjoyed my evening. Lets just say she got some mixed reviews in the press, but I think that Kate Nash makes simple yet interesting pop music and she is an immensely talented musician. This is my favourite track from 'Made Of Bricks': MP3: Kate Nash: Mariella Clubbing Wise there are two massive events coming up in the next 8 days! At the time of writing th

I have come across the term Guest Blogging quite a lot. It is pretty self-explanatory, I know, however, I wanted to introduce guest blogging and how it can bring targetted traffic to your website/blog. What is Guest Blogging? In simple terms, it means that the author of a blog invites other bloggers to post on his/her blog.1. More Content2. A Different writing style keeps visitors interestedGuest Bloggers write on other blogs to1. Get recognition.2. Traffic and exposure to their own website or blog.Guest blogging is indeed a great way to get targetted visitors to your blog. There are quite a few blogs out there, that rely completely on guest blogging, and the owner works on getting traffic to the blog and earning money from it without worrying about the content. However, some of the blogs invite few guest bloggers to post occasionally on their blogs. So, next time, you are invited to be a guest blogger, take a look at the blog and consider this: Is it worth your time to write good posts
Being a guest blogger on another blog is a good idea to increase your traffic. I wrote a post about being a guest blogger earlier but I thought this should not be left out in this series.3 Zoom(s)
FUSE’S STEVEN’S UNTITLED ROCK SHOW CELEBRATES500TH EPISODE WITH FOO FIGHTERSTune In Thursday, November 8, 8pm ETNew York, NY (October 29, 2007) – fuse, the national music television network, celebrates the 500th episode of Steven’s Untitled Rock Show with special guest, Foo Fighters, on Thursday, November 8, at 8pm ET. Hosted by fuse veteran Steven Smith, Steven’s Untitled Rock Show features unconventional interviews, videos and hard-hitting performances.“Reaching the 500th episode is a great milestone for us,” said Steven Smith, host and executive producer of Steven’s Untitled Rock Show. “There aren’t any shows on television that are completely devoted to music and interviewing bands. The people behind Steven’s Untitled Rock Show have worked really hard to create a forum for musicians and real music fans, and I’m damn proud to be a part of it.”Since its inception in December 2004, Steven’s Untitled Rock Show, a name suggested by fans, has proven to be a

Hello world, This is my first installment of my guest appearance on my good friend Sid's blog! I've selected four tunes that i've been playing out alot recently and the time has come to share them with you! First of all a remix of the awesome Daft Punk from an Australian artist, Ghetto Ruckus. I'm always wary of a Daft Punk remix as its almost impossible to beat the original, but this man has given the track a huge synth injection! MP3: Daft Punk: Harder Better Faster Stronger (Ghetto Ruckus Mix) Crookers are churning out loads of decent material at the moment, and they are fast becoming one of the big names in the Fidget House scene. This is their re-working of my second favourite Brazilian act, Bonde Do Role. MP3: Bonde Do Role: Gasolina (Crookers Crunk) Next up a lovely bit of soulful D & B for you. This is the title track of the new J Majick & Wickaman album, Crazy World. Vocals are courtesy of Kathy Brown, best known for 'Turn Me Out'. You can get the album now from http:/

Guest posting has started to become a big hit on blogs these days. It’s been described as a win-win for the blog owner and the guest writer, but some writers have brought in a third element: readers.

Guest writers have the most to gain in that they get exposure to a [...]
A blog is not a blog without traffic. This is a fact that we consider as our golden rule in blogging. Its like pouring all your emotions in to a poem that you feel so strongly about and yet, nobody reads it. How do you intend people to appreciate it if no one sees it? That's why im not a fan of making diaries. Theyre completely a waste of time. Id rather appear on National TV and talk about how I feel to let others know it and why i feel like it. This is way better than writing on a piece of paper and let history consume it. Ive previously written about getting more traffic to a blog or site and to put it plainly, It never did the job (that well at least). After a month of existence, i came to retire to the notion that blog directories just dont give you sufficient traffic to make money online. I only apply to some of the high-ranked blog directories for PR purposes only and the traffic generated from them are nothing more than mere bonuses. So, i tried a better approach in mak

My daughter is now having her summer break. She won't be going back to her playgroup when the holidays are over and instead will be moving to the nursery at the same school. However, not being at school means that she has a lot of extra energy. The first day she was jumping around everywhere and I had quite a hard time controlling her. She's not that bad as compared to some other kids I have seen though.Fortunately she has something or should I say someone to occupy her. My wife's Italian colleague Roby flew in from Kenya last week and will be staying with us till the 1st of August. Now Rahil follows her everywhere. I try my best to stop her from going into the guest room and disturbing Roby but she will slip off when I am not watching.Kids!
For years now, Noel Gallagher has defended his rush to have drinks with the Prime Minister as having been what anyone would do if they were invited by Blair:Gallagher subsequently said that 'when the fookin' Prime Minister [sends you an invite], fookin' 'ell, you've got to go."Hmm. Fair enough, perhaps.Only now, though, it turns out that the fookin' Prime Minister didn't fookin invite him at all. We have Alistair Campbell's diaries to thank for this:"TB was worried that Noel Gallagher was coming to the reception tomorrow. He said he had no idea he had been invited," wrote Campbell. "TB felt he was bound to do something crazy. I spoke to Alan McGee and said can we be assured he would behave."Alan said he would make sure he did. He said if we had invited Liam, it might have been different."Gallagher arrived with his wife Meg, McGee and his girlfriend. Cherie met them and took them upstairs to see Kathryn and Nicky, who was pretty gobsmacked when Gallagher walked in."He said he th
NoFollow -NoGood for bloggers? Sueblimely Australian blogger here. Please don't change channels; Blog Blond has allowed me the honor of Guest Blogging today. The topic: the pros and cons of 'nofollow'.Let me start by explaining what 'nofollow' is. It is an attribute that can be added to websites that tells search engines not to'follow' links to external sites so that they do not gain any advantages in the ranking process.I am talking today about 'nofollow' on user added links; for example, in blog comments, forums, and wikis. Here is an example showing a link with and without 'nofollow':Blatant plug for my blogrel="nofollow"Google now won't raise my ranking to 10 (as if!)BackgroundNofollow was developed by Google as a method of reducing online spam, the idea being that if search engines did not give spammers higher ratings for numerous external links, it would remove a main reason for spamming. (try telling the automated spambots that!) Advantages of nofollowThere may be a degree of re
I must be a bit of a contradiction in my musical tastes… I like minimalism in music and believe that immense complexity can come out of simplicity, but at the same time I have a special place in my heart for jam bands like the Grateful Dead and Phish that let improvisation run wild. Few bands can compare to either of these bands in terms of their jams, as both could easily push past the 30 minute mark, but that was not what originally attracted me to either of them and keeps me coming back to listen to them. Instead it was and is their unique blend of styles.
From Houston Texas, Moses Guest has existed in some form since 1995, has a number of albums to their credit, the most recent being Best Laid Plans. They definitely sound in the same vein as both of these bands and other jam bands, but also has some compelling songwriting, and a unique feel. I guess I’d start to describe their sound with phrases like folk rock, southern rock and country flavors, because there is d

From guest blogger Arielle, a tale I can very much identify with.Friday, when I came home from work, I found a notice from the post office asking me to pick up a "tied package". I thought for a minute it might have been from Ro herself, but then again, she would have warned me beforehand [Rosario: I would, I would. And I'll be sending something out later this week, so here's your warning]. So I was intrigued (and amused by the mix of creole and french the postman had used to express the nature of the package, LOL). Here's a pic of what I got.Since it was to late to go pick it up that same afternoon, I put it on my to-do list for Monday, first thing. I wasn't enthousiastic about it because we're into the rainy/hurracany season and the Post office is a "little to the left" as they say here, so it wasn't going to be fun...or clean for that matter.I went to the post office at 8 A.M. and was handed this package. Four - yes, 4 - envelopes of books waiting for me. But the date are what

I've just received some great news. Baseball in Lorain County is one the rise. Lorain has renovated its Class F field into a professional-caliber stadium. "The Pipe Yard" will be Cleveland State's (Cleveland isn't a state) home field this year, and it will also host several games for Lorain County Community College. The long-term - or more appropriately, medium-term - hope is to lure a
