The latest in a string of Frankensteinian efforts is a modification to the Rock Band Stratocaster that bestows the guitar with real guitar strings! Well, actually it bestows the instrument with precisely one guitar string, but it's a start, right? Now you might not look quite as ridiculous when you play the game with a pick. How does it work? The string is attached to a switch (the knobby thing on the left in the image above) which is activated when pressure is applied to the string. Ingenious, we say! Matchbook Romance's Hit Song "Monsters" Gets Boost From Hot New Game
Since Activision's release of the cultural phenomenon Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, which features 2006's hit song "Monsters," sales of Matchbook Romance's digital single have skyrocketed. Featured on the group's 2006 album, Voices, "Monsters" is currently averaging sales of over 5,500 digital copies per week since the game's release. Sales of the digital single have also driven album sales, which saw a significant increase since the games introduction.
"With limited opportunities for young bands to make a real connection with new fans, games like Guitar Hero III are having a huge impact on sales," explains Epitaph's Vice President of Sales Jon Strickland. "Matchbook Romance's sales were up over 1000% over the holiday period due to their appearance as one of the few newer bands featured in the game."

Last week on December 7, 2007 guitar manufacturing company, Gibson released the much-anticipated Gibson Robot Guitar. The Robot is a Les Paul-esque luxury guitar ran by lightweight microprocessors and motorized tuner knobs to automatically tune itself in accordance to the owner’s preference. The guitar features a push-pull LED Master Control Knob that is the dictator and mastermind of the guitar. When the Master Control Knob is set to “tune” you would simply strum the guitar once which signals the tune-control-bridge to adjust the pitch of the strings, the bridge then drives the Powerhead motorized knobs to adjust themselves accordingly to achieve the perfect tune for the guitar.
