Why do you want to apply for this visa? For me:This is a once in a life-time experience. If I don't do it now, I will never do it and fyi, you gotta do it before you are 30. That means if you are 28, that's the last chance you can apply for the visa (plus 2 years of travelling you will be 30 by then).2. Do you have any commitment?Car or house installments, breadwinner of the family, you are married! (if you are married, it's comp

  • Six Tips to Win Big at the Post Holiday Sales
It's my favorite time of the year again ... Post Holiday Clearance Time!! From Christmas Day until the end of March, this is the time to clean up on the winter steals.Retailers need to get rid of the leftover surplus of goods that didn't sell during the holiday season. Why? To get rid of the overstock and make room for the Spring/Summer items (which they usually display in February). Here are some things to remember in all of the coming sales madness: Everyone will have a sale. It's your right to comparison shop.Don't waste money. Make sure it will fit and you'll really wear it. My standard is to think of at least three outfits you could wear the tempting item with. If you can't, you run the risk of wasting money on a closet liner. The really great savings start around mid-January. Stores discount more when product isn't selling. However, there's a catch; the choice of sizes and popular items/colors will go first and most likely won't make it to this stage. If you really, really love so

  • Holiday hotspots: where are we heading in 2008?
Forget glitz, crowds and over-development: the key holiday destinations in 2008 will be those remote corners of the globe that offer comfort, solitude and authenticity, writes Mark Jones.Once upon a time, writing an article of predictions such as this would have been a straightforward task. Name-check some big openings, whisk around the atlas with a style thermometer naming what's hot, where's cool, where has gone tepid and who's been frozen out.No longer. Now you can't look forward in the travel business without grappling with the Big Issues: global warming, geo-politics, China, international security. Many of these issues came together at the Bali conference this month - and what a choice of venue that was. Only a few years ago, nowhere better symbolised the innocence of modern multicultural travel: a place where young Australians flocked to get drunk and rich Britons fled to chill out. Now Bali - sadder, wiser, bombed, more wary Bali - will become shorthand for nothing less than the

  • Update: More on Low-Sulfite Wines (Holiday Edition)
Happy Holidays to all, and greetings from sunny FL!A (very) quick update on my last post regarding low-sulfite wines, just to prove I'm not totally biased against all organic / biodynamic wines!I've come across a few other quality wines (featured in body + soul magazine, to which my wife subscribes) that I've recently learned are either organically or biodynamically made (or both), and that I've found to be of good quality...Thought I'd take a brief moment during my holiday respite to share these wine finds with you. Hope that anyone looking for low-sulfite wines (that don't also totally suck!) will find this helpful:Bonterra Vineyards - Most of their wines are organic, and they make at least one decent wine that's also biodynamic.Fetzer - All organic, with a big focus on recycling during production and distribution.Frey - Both organic & biodynamic, and vegan to boot!Quintessa - Fully biodynamic since 2005; probably the most fabulous biodynamic wine you'll find out there, but you'
