This is getting pretty ridiculous. Those people have squandered away money like it was coming out of a faucet. This includes the "victims" and the Louisiana / New Orleans government. How much money to they need to rebuild rat-infested shanties? Hurricane Katrina's victims have put a price tag on their suffering and it is staggering — including one plaintiff seeking the unlikely sum of $3 quadrillion. A whopping $3,014,170,389,176,410 is the dollar figure so far sought from some of the largest claims filed against the federal government over damage from the failure of levees and flood walls following the Aug. 29, 2005, hurricane. Of roughly 489,000 total claims, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said it has received 247 for at least $1 billion apiece, including the one for $3 quadrillion. "That's the mother of all high numbers," said Loren Scott, a Baton Rouge-based economist. For the sake of perspective: A mere $1 quadrillion would dwarf the U.S. gross domestic product, which
Gosh, that shouldn’t slow evacuations down much at all.

As the 2007 Atlantic hurricane season officially comes to a close on November 30, NOAA scientists are carefully reviewing a set of dynamic weather patterns that yielded lower-than-expected hurricane activity across the Atlantic Basin. As a result, the United States was largely spared from significant landfalling storms. However, several noteworthy events took place, including two back-to-back Category 5 hurricanes hitting Central America and the rapid near-shore intensification of the single U.S. landfalling hurricane. As a whole, the 2007 Atlantic hurricane season produced a total of 14 named storms, including six hurricanes, two of which became major hurricanes. NOAA's August update to the seasonal forecast predicted 13 to 16 named storms - of which seven to nine would be hurricanes, including three to five major hurricanes of Category 3 strength or higher. An average season has 11 named storms, with six becoming hurricanes, including two major hurricanes."The 2007 Atlantic hurricane

I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later. I am talking about the effects of a NATURAL disaster being credited with contributing to global warming. More notably, Hurricane Katrina. Carny folk like the guy pictured here (from whom we feel no need whatsoever to dissociate ourselves, as anyone who goes to work with white knee-length socks and a personal fan is unlikely to consult legal advice on matters relating to libel) like firemen, police officers, bus drivers and rodeo clowns, are placed in positions of trust, and are counted upon daily to take good care to properly bolt down the Vomit Coasters and tilt-a-whirls of this world (keen-eyed readers will note an unprecedented, back to back referencing of tilt-a-whirls, in our estimation, a blogosphere first). While we appreciate that the repeated exposure to objects going around and around in circles represents a rather obvious metaphor for the cards you've been dealt by the great blackjack dealer in the sky (an allegory Pat Sajak would flatly deny), that's no reason whatsoever to be asked to 'step, right up, don't be shy' to a Breathalyzer like the operator of a 'the Hurricane' ride was at a South Carolina county f

Hurricane Katrina was 2 years ago on this date. In all my years of seeing a disasters I never seen something as bad as this event those pictures of this day will stay with me forever in my mind with tears. Those films of that event will never leave me or never forget the sad I felt in my heart. The visions of the people sitting on top of roofs, floating on debris to land, people sitting in wheel chairs, dead bodies covered and babies crying. The worst thing I ever seen on TV in the history of my life with the awful things that happened at the superdome that was hell for those people I think it is a crime with what happened to them with no help at all. The way the government handled this disaster was awful I never was more embarrassed than at that time being an American when our own government treated American citizen that way. Then later they stated didn’t know all the stuff was going on at the superdome when every darn news station at that time was covering the story of the horrific
It was yesterday. I was too busy to post anything about it. I had more important things to do like update news from the War on Terror. I wouldn't be able to write anything more about Hurricane Katrina without my blood pressure rising to unseen proportions anyway. So I will just leave links to my previous posts about the Hurricane. This blame game is totally reasonable since you know a hurricane is going to hit you and have reasonable time to prepare. THE FAILURES OF LOUISIANA OFFICIALS THE FAILURES OF LOUISIANA OFFICIALS, PART DUH ***NOTE*** They look different from my current posts because, at the time, I was using a blogger add-on for Microsoft Word. I could upload directly from Word. Now I use Windows Live Writer Beta. I like it, but it could be better. The best thing about it is that it does a lot of the HTML for you and pings search engines. The center of Dean crossed the Lesser Antilles this morning between
St. Lucia and Martinique as indicated by the Martinique radar. At

As many of you may already know, Category 4 Hurricane Flossie is expected near our Hawaiian Islands tonight. Will she merely sideswipe the islands or change course? This is the BIG question on everyone's minds right now. Even then, Maui most likely won't be in Flossie's path but the Big Island could be. When it comes to hurricanes, one never knows for sure. If I don't post for a couple of days, well....Flossie could have nicked us.Mahalo Nui Loa for your prayers to safeguard everyone and everything in these Sacred Isles! And don't forget to enter my FIRST Blog Contest. Hurricane Flossie might hit Hawaii, well I hate to say it, but I told you so. It is amazing how things have changed since our last post on Hurricane Flossie.
