  • Thoughts on the Sabathia Interview on His Contract Issues
I thought it was an interesting decision yesterday for C.C. to come out and discuss his contract for what he says will be the one and only time in the 2008 season. One would think that the local media up here in Cleveland are going to want to grill him about it, so I would [...]
  • BBC RSVP Part 3: Handling a radio interview
My live interview on BBC Radio Solent(This is a long posting but it takes you through every stage of a live, 18-minute radio interview). The BBC building in Southampton is home to both Radio Solent and BBC TV South but it's a bit of a 'ghost town' on Sundays when only one radio studio is working, with a team consisting of the presenter, the production staff and a newsreader and traffic reporter. I had a brief chat with Lewis (the producer) about radio and comedy courses at universities (he had noticed that in the past I have been a guest lecturer on the MA course in Radio Production at Bournemouth Uni). He got me a coffee from the machine and led me in to the studios where Alina Jenkins waved to me from her booth as she introduced Honky Tonk Women by the Rolling Stones. Our interview was due to start after that record finished. I chatted with Alina and she warned me that the plastic headphones were a bit of a loose fit (she wasn't joking!), Lewis adjusted the mic to the right level and

  • BBC RSVP Part 2: Revising for a radio interview?
Preparing for my latest interview on BBC Radio SolentHaving agreed to go on Radio Solent, the first thing I did was find out about the presenter who would be interviewing me as I hadn't been a very regular listener to the station recently. This is so much easier nowadays than when I did my first 'radios' as so many stations have 'Listen Again' facilities on their websites as well as short biographies of their broadcasters.Alina Jenkins has her own website and I noted from it that she has appeared as an actress in series such as Preston Front and Red Dwarf so she has experience of comedy - the subject of our discussion. And can you imagine giving presentations using highly sophisticated visual aids to an audience of hundreds of thousands of people five days a week for four years? Alina did this as a weather presenter on BBC TV's South Today so she certainly has wide experience of public speaking!Public Speaking Tip #129: If you know who will be interviewing you on radio or TV, try and fin

  • Lethal Job Interview Mistakes
Job interview mistakes can be easily avoided! These are the five interview mistakes that commonly cause candidates to fail in their job interviews. Inadequate Preparation Benjamin Franklin’s famous quote “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail” is never more applicable than when it comes to the job interview. Do the necessary homework beforehand and you will impress the interviewer as a committed and enthusiastic job candidate. Research the company and the position before your interview and demonstrate how you are the right fit by answering questions effectively and preparing the most appropriate questions to ask. The most obvious way to do this is to go to the company’s website. Other resources include industry-related websites, business information websites and competitor websites. Visit your public library and ask for relevant directories and periodicals. If you live close enough, visit the company beforehand. Pick up relevant brochures and repo

Live interview on BBC Radio SolentAfter posting about speaking to so many clubs and societies in recent months, I can now tell you about a different kind of engagement which I accepted last week: a live interview on a BBC local radio station. This is an important topic so I am going to write about it in several posts, starting with my previous radio experiences and then how I prepared for this latest interview. Finally, I will tell you how the broadcast went.Over the years, I have been featured on the radio a number of times:(1). 1993: 2CR FM. A 15-second sound bite for a minute-long feature about turning a hobby (i.e. writing) into a business. This was years before I enrolled in an evening class in public speaking and even though the piece was pre-recorded, I was still so nervous in those days that my voice was quavering!(2), (3). 1994: Radio Bedside. I was a guest twice on two-hour shows broadcast live to six hospitals in the Bournemouth area and presented by a local comedian/speaker.
  • Interview With Kat Swift, Part One
It's interesting to see how the Democratic Party now is speaking greenspeak on the issues that Greens have been speaking about for a long time. They're talking about environmental degradation. They're talking about health care issues, wages, and workers rights, and it's interesting to see how the Democratic Party kind of greenwashes what they say, but if you look at their policy decisions, they're not really making decisions that support workers' rights or protecting the environment or doing sustainable growth.

For Michael Glabicki, the band’s singer, songwriter and all-around frontman, the downtime between gigs and albums has allowed for what was once a part-time endeavor to become full-blown solo career.Tonight, Glabicki will return to Jamestown for a solo show at Shawbucks. Discussing his ties to the area and the differences between his band and solo songs, Glabicki answered the following five questions during a recent interview with Post-Journal:NICK DEAN — I read that your solo music beg

  • Interview: Answering Demands for Playable Aliens in Tabula Rasa - SendMeRSS
Interview: Answering Demands for Playable Aliens in Tabula Rasa When Tabula Rasa was released, the gaming community was swift to express its dismay that the only playable race in the game was human. The design team, smart folks that they are, paid attention. "We took some of that feedback and we ran with it," says Paul Sage, the game's lead designer. The result is that as of version 1.4, which should be available some time this week, you can finally play as a Brann, Forean, or Thrax. Sort of. The characters are actually human/alien hybrids. "You use the DNA from the aliens to augment yourself," explains Sage. Adding aliens to the playable roster was always part of the plan for Tabula Rasa, but the community feedback inspired the team to include it "a little earlier than we thought we would." The decision to launch the game with only one playable race struck some as odd,but emphasizing the humanity of your character was one of executive produ

Keep in the back of your mind that Uncharted 2 has already been hinted at by the studio. What follows are some choice quotes. Question: Presumably the engine for Uncharted will evolve over time and be used in future projects… perhaps the next Jak and Daxter? Are there areas of the engine that you know need improving? Answer: Absolutely. We will continue to refine the Uncharted engine for years to come. With Uncharted we’ve only just started to tap into the potential of the PS3. Particularly with the Cell processor, we should be able to do a lot more. We’re already busy porting more of our systems from the PPU over to the SPUs and seeing huge benefits. • Frequently Asked Interview Questions on SAP Infoshuttle
FAQ1. Can I use InfoShuttle to help update my Test and Development environments with current Production data?Yes. InfoShuttle lets you transfer subsets of master and transactional data, for example the latest customers, materials, and sales orders from production to your Test and Development environments.2. Are there internal blocks within InfoShuttle to prevent you from writing from Production back to Production?Yes. During InfoShuttle installation, the administrator sets the specific RFC destinations that a particular instance can shuttle data to. So, in Production, you would simply omit Production as one of the potential InfoShuttle targets.3. Can InfoShuttle be used to move data between different SAP versions (ie. production 3.1i and test system 4.6x) to accommodate upgrade testing?Generally InfoShuttle is not used to transfer data between two different releases of SAP as data structures tend to change between SAP releases. However, if an object structure is the same between your r
