There is simply no end to Liverpool’s dismal season. Barnsley advanced into the last eight of the FA Cup in dramatic fashion after coming from behind to beat Liverpool 2-1 with virtually the...

Might Liverpool have been stunned by the little known Barnsley. The beauty of FA cup is that various little known teams have the chance to upset bigger well known Premier league teams and thats what happened exactly yesterday.Liverpool began brightly with a flurry of chances and Dirk Kuyt scored his first goal in 14 appearances for Liverpool and he showed good composure and control in front of goal by capitalizing on a penetrating run by Ryan Babel. Then Stephen Foster equalized for Barnsley when he scored a goal by capitalizing on an error from the Liverpool keeper Charles Itandje. The real stunning blow came deep into the injury time when Brian Howard smashe a low shot past the Liverpool to send the partisan fans into raptures and that shot also knocked out Liverpool from the FA cup.
Hicks and Gillet watch out. There is a new takeover bid on the horizon - no Dubai, Russian or Thai sugar daddies in the picture, it is coming from the fans themselves. Liverpool supporters cannot...

Liverpool have come out and thrashed Luton town 5-0 at Anfield and established their credentials as title contenders of the FA cup.Steven Gerrard scored a hat trick and Peter Crouch and Ryan Babel scored a goal each. The Reds scored only one goal in the first half but netted four in the second. This was a replay match and Liverpool came under heavy criticism for drawing the previous match against them 1-1 and this was an opportunity for them to prove that they were back to their best and they did that exactly.
Liverpool’s title ambitions are waning. Mathematically, the battle to claim their first league championship in more than 17 years is far from over but you can sense the despondence when good,...

Today is the launching of Liverpool 08, European Capital of Culture. It has started officially at 2008 hours today (very apt the way the organisers picked the (time)start of the ceremony). We have been to Liverpool in Nov 2006 (gosh has it been that long ago?) during that time Liverpool city was drown with construction sites. Anywhere we looked we could see scaffolding's and cranes , a bit of an eyesore. Traffic was horrendous as well. It was indeed a good thing that we decided to stay at a B&B 1.5 miles away from the City Centre. We travelled into the city either by cab or bus.Now Liverpool city has totally been transformed and simply looks amazing on telly. Liverpool 08 will boast a whole year cultural events. This will not only boost the tourism sector or the standard of living but also shed the negativity of Scousers. Plus this will also place Liverpool in the map for not only known as the place where The Beatles originated or for Liverpool FC but as a City that is rich i

Liverpool pulled out an impressive victory at Marseille's Stade Velodrome tonight, beating down their hosts by a four goal margin to advance to the Champions League Round of 16. Steven Gerrard put in his own penalty kick rebound four minutes into the game and Marseille never recovered. Four different Reds scored in all as Rafa Benitez' side proved they belong among the final 16. The victory completes an impressive turnaround for Liverpool, who appeared in dire straights after losing their third match day game at Besiktas Istanbul. Stevie G and friends cranked out three straight victories after that, by a total goal difference of 16:1.No major surprises to report in the three other games of meaning that were played today; Porto, Schalke, Real Madrid and Olympiakos all won at home to advance. I am spared the embarrassment of having one of my Top 10 teams bow out (that would be #2 Real, #7 Porto or #10 Olympiakos, in case you're scoring at home). On the other hand, it may be time to make
To say the least, Rafael Benitez was a huge letdown in the defeat to Reading. Fortunately, Arsenal’s inept performance against Middlesbrough (boy, was that a mighty fall for the juggernaut), has given him space to maneuver.

In recent weeks, Liverpool have been unstoppable - winning matches and with goals galore. An uncertain future for their manager, Rafael Benitez, had no bearing on their resurgence.

Liverpool’s title challenge is back on track after an easy 3-0 victory at Newcastle. There were happy faces all round as they extended their unbeaten run but Newcastle have slumped deeper into a crisis. From Sam Allardyce’s dour expression, the pressure from consecutive setbacks (one point in four matches) is starting to pile up on [...]

The MTV Europe Awards - second only to the MTV Video Music Awards, if you don't count the MTV Movie Awards when it comes to promoting the declining MTV brand - is coming back to the UK for 2008, when it'll form part of the glittering Liverpool Capital of Culture year:"Not only is it the European Capital of Culture next year but the influence of its rich musical heritage is still felt today," producer Richard Godfrey said. It's obviously those reasons that Liverpool has been chosen. Oh, and because the host city pumps money into the event - the last UK staging, in Edinburgh, saw costs spiral out of control and a large chunk of the money paid by the city clumsily hidden from the initial figures. Not, of course, that the Liverpool Culture Company would find itself in such a situation.
