What is this? Spring in february in Amsterdam? We had quite a few extraordinary days in Amsterdam, where the temperatures were more suited for spring than for winter! And today was sunny enough for us to sit outside. I had gotten a tip from a reader to check out Skek in the Nieuwmarkt area, but [...]
The Himalaya Tea House is part of the Himalaya book store and lies close to Central Station in the Red Light District. My friend suggested this place, because he had spotted it the other day. When you get to the place you have to go through the book store to the back where the restaurant [...]
click logo for more information Today, my Pop-Pop got up and decided he wanted to take us out to have something called "brunch". So, we got in the car, traveled to a part of Philadelphia called "Germantown", and went to a place called the "Trolley Car Diner. It was a warm and friendly place...lots of people were there and Grammy said it was like "the place that time forgot". Here is a pic of the old #23 trolley car that sits right outside the diner. It was closed because it's wintertime but, in the summertime, it serves ice cream and you can sit at the tables outside to eat it. This is a pic of the diner where we had our brunch. It sits right next to the old #23 trolley car. Because there were so many people there, we had to give our name, sit down, and wait a little while before our table was ready. Usually, I get really upset when I have to sit still and wait for anything because I like to run around and have fun but, Mommy said that I was being a really good boy today. Mommy decided
..... was a former noontime show of GMA Network, think we're still in elementary back then. Randy Santiago was there, Mahal also, and I think, Toni Rose (now in Eat Bulaga, is she still there?).
Anyhow, just had my lunch - brunch to be exact. And feeling full isn't that appealing at the moment. It just makes me yearn for my bed and memories of an afternoon nap. Hohum.

There is a trend within the pharmaceutical industry to buy physicians lunch on a regular basis. Actually not just the physician but the entire office! I knew someday I was going to run into a problem with this but who knew when. I had gotten good at telling those who asked that we did not provide lunch. I hired an assistant to bring some information packets into the city to distribute them among viable prospects. What I didn't know was he had agreed to send me in on a "luncheon". Apparently he did not understand the terminology. So I confirm the appointment that he has set up for me and take off to meet with this physician on Park Ave. As soon as I get there the female physician who looks like Coffee Cake from The Bronx Tale tells me where to put the lunch. Its this moment that I realize whats happening. They expect me to court them in this fashion. Not happening. I don't do lunch. So in a split second I have to make a decision. I take a quick look around and see all the produ
Josh Homme has a somewhat low opinion of his record label, it turns out:"Fuck the labels, man, they suck. The last thing they're stripping down is their own expense accounts and shit. I mean, (President) Jimmy Iovine of Interscope Records takes a private jet or rides first class to tell a band they don't get tour support...I'm not gonna be quiet because the American label, not Canada, not Europe, but our American label's fucking us like crazy, so fuck them...I'm not even bitter, people say labels are evil, no. They're just lame.""They can't do anything to me. That's the difference...they can't stop me from being me and from playing, but they can lose their jobs and have to fucking work at Shakey's pizza like they should've all along.""I have a retarded record company. They're all locked in their hysteria of a business that they don't understand, you know. Today, we had a thanksgiving lunch at work, in advance for tomorrow. Food wasn't quite good though, and I don't eat turkey. It was an easy day for me today since it's my last day here at LBMC (huhuhu!):-( Yesterday, me and my co-workers ate out for lunch at Hole - Mole (pronounces like "HOLY MOLLY"). OMG! can't believe that they serve good food there, especially their tacos-- Oh, I love their beef and fish taco.Monday is my first day working in the county and the nurse recruiter who called me and wants me to head up to the main office by 8am.
And then Karl just burps. Earlier this week the 'fair and balanced' Newsweek announced that it will occasionally employ leftist blogger Markos Moulitsas as a fill-in writer. Today, Newsweek announced it will also, occasionally employ Karl Rove to counter.I don't read Newsweek daily. I don't read Newsweek weekly (unless some specific article is brought to my attention), but here's hoping that Rove's articles appear in the same issue as the anti-American kos.If not, it's just leftist views one one month and right views the next. Left, right. Right, left. Left, right. Right, left.No progress. Just more sales for Newsweek.Note to Karl: Try not to hurt kos' ego too much. He's full of angst don't you know... It was almost 12noon when a lady friend sent me an SMS saying she and my ex will be meeting up somewhere to have lunch together and she asked my ex whether they can be alone to talk and have a third wheel around - she meant the current girlfriend - I believe she wanted to talk things over with the ex without the
Bart and I decided to bring the boys to meet our friend Sue and have lunch. Afterwards we told them we were going to take them to drive by their schools and see them from the outside, but that they would not go inside until tomorrow when they register. Little Wilson pipes up, "So, we're gonna do a drive by?"Later, Leon points out that every time he turns around he sees nothing but white people. So I told him we should count the people of color we saw. Unfortunately, there weren't many out. In fact, since he wouldn't let me count a scare crow that was obviously not white -- very orange face -- there was only one. I reminded him that when he went to school he would see many kids of color as the school was quite diverse.Bart and I have been joking around about Leon's comment that I was the man and he was the woman and it makes the boys lap. Every time Bart said, "Yo da man" to me they just cracked up.They have returned to electronic stimulation -- enjoying their psychic space. In

It's easy to be intimidated by Beccofino. First you got the Italian sounding moniker. Then there's the art deco external façade, dim lighting and the fact that it's situated in Thonglo, Sukhumvit's hippest and chicest soi. And oh my~ it's actually got an authentic, meaty Italian chef named Angelo Rottoli~!!
But don't be discouraged. You can still experience Beccofino's "hi-so" food, service and ambience if you go for its Buffet Lunch Set~!!
For 350 baht++, you can stuff your face silly from noon 'til 2:30 pm with pasta, cold cuts, seafood, salads, breads, soup and yes, even dessert PLUS coffee or tea~!!
Since this is an all-you-can-eat deal, here's the best ATTACK PLAN:
Start with the warm breads first. You can enjoy all of 'em either with or without butter. If you're a bread fiend, you can even ask for more~!!
Next, proceed to the buffet table for your appetizers (pictured). Try a little bit of everything - different kinds of ham, finger food, cheeses, seafood (shrimps,...
Today my friend was a bit sick, so we decided to go somewhere close to his place. Of course Toasty would have been an option, but we wanted to try something new. By accident we found Frenzi Cucina at the end of the Overtoom. Now this is not really a restaurant, but more a deli/caterer [...]

Ufuk Uras, a veteran left wing activist was elected to the Turkish Parliament in July 2007 as an independent Deputy from Istanbul. He is the leader of the Left wing Freedom and Solidarity Party (ÖDP) and is the only deputy currently in Parliament, outside of the Kurdish parties with Left socialist credentials. Last week Uras flew to Istanbul from Ankara having been in the Capital on Parliamentary business and came across Government Minister Nimet Çubukçu on the plane. We are told on landing, AK Party member Çubukçu asked Uras: “?I can drop you wherever you are going”.? Uras didn't refuse and on alighting the plane they got into Çubukçu's Official government limo. The ÖDP activists waiting for Ufuk Uras at the The Marmara Hotel were shocked to see him getting out of a Mercedes with red Governmental license plates. Uras, who before the election had said he would go to Parliament on a bicycle, quickly realized traveling in a luxury official government car might not

When we can on Fridays (Bart's Day Off) we like to go to lunch. Today we split an appetizer and entre at the Olive Garden). When we got there we decided that Bart would choose the appetizer and I would select the entre. After we made our selections, I jokingly grabbed the wine list and said, "And what about our wine choice."And Bart responded, "Oh yes, I'm hear to listen to you whine."Gotta love him....and smack him.

Just to let everyone know, the following entry was written by our Founding Father and Biteclub president/organiser Jason. As usual, my travel commitments had me circling the globe and I wasn't there to enjoy this event. Enjoy Jason's take on a fun filled, gourmet fest...From the people who brought you Bite Club, we bring you Bite Club Lunch! The inaugural daytime edition of our food and friends fest kicked off on Sunday, August 19. Could a weekend lunch, possibly be as successful as the traditional Tuesday night affair? After five seasons, changing time slots is always a risk. However, despite appalling weather conditions - and at least one member getting the shits, literally - it turned out to be a fun afternoon. The day began with a clap of thunder and bolt of inspiration. Due to the torrential rain, Vanessa and I abandoned our plan to seat everyone in the spacious courtyard at Spring Street. Instead, we decided to slap two tables together and squeeze everyone inside. As they s

My friends at Signature Bank told me about the $8 lunch special at La Mela La Mela . They don't have the lunch special on the menu so I don't know how people would know about it. Everyone else in the restaurant seemed to be eating off the regular menu. It's a choice of Eggplant Parmigian, Chicken Parmigian, Veal Pamigian, or Spaghetti and Meatball (notice the lack of the s since it's only 1 meatball). It comes with bread and an oily salad. It's pretty decent except for the 1 meatball pasta but I don't like it enough to go again.
Silicon Valley has some interesting ways of getting people together to meet and greet, one of them is the Lunch 2.0 program where companies open up their doors, invite everyone who is working in the valley to come in and see what is happening at various companies. This might be similar to the Wednesday morning coffee break in Eastlake in Seattle.
September 12th is the day that Hitachi opens up its doors according to Lunch 2.0, which might be a place to watch in case anyone is interested in going and visiting Hitachi.
If Hitachi is not your bag, there will be Topix, Box, Pandora, Plaxo, Podtech, Riya, Simply Hired, Zazzle, Zooomer and Zvents also at the lunch.
You can get more info here
It looks like it will be interesting, of course we will be no where near Santa Clara, nor the Valley, rather we will be mired hip deep in something over here in Seattle doing our own thing, and otherwise enjoying the life of a startup. Howdy folks, we are back home, this was a bit longer luncheon date than I had anticipated, and it was an awesome little get-together, we met Dave Mooney face to face and a nicer guy you’ll never find, Dave is the owner of the Blue Star Deli and he was a gracious host, he made everyone comfortable and we all felt right at home…
Dave’s place is great, a real cozy feeling, very ‘down home’ and the food is great too, and the prices are VERY reasonable and I am hoping that now maybe some of Dave’s maladies may be easing up a bit, Dave was told that the Halliburton Company, which is almost his next door neighbor, finally got on the stick and started doing some damage control, they made a building wide P.A. system address to their entire staff declaring that they do NOT encourage nor support a boycott of the Blue Star Deli and they are looking forward to doing business in the near future, and THAT is really good news…
Our luncheon was a real nice ti
I little while back I talked about the woes in finding a good lunch by my office. It hasn't gotten much better but it's a step up. I've been eating at Variety Cafe. Variety Cafe It's one of those big places where you pay by weight. It's decent stuff for $6.49 per pound: shrimp, fresh mozzarella, portobellos...Keep in mind that the cold bar is way better than the hot bar. The cashiers are speedy so at least the line moves quickly.
Sunday afternoons in Sydney are meant to be spent lazily, it’s almost mandatory, especially when our newly started winter season is unusually clement. Not that I am complaining but where have our Sydney winters gone? It seems that every year the winters get milder and milder. Could Mr. Gore be right about this inconvenient truth? Well, wherever it is our winter has run away to, it has given Sydneysiders the rare opportunity to enjoy a June weekend outdoors unladen with the burden of a thousand layers of clothing. So what do you do when you have become locked away indoors working on a Sunday afternoon while everyone you possibly know is either lounging at home, or enjoying the Primo Italiano Food Festival? The obvious answer would be to throw yourself a pity party and wallow in that pool of despair that you have created for yourself. Perhaps sit in a dark corner crouched in the foetal position passing the hours pondering on how much more pitiful your weekend can get. I know that’s ex
So today we went to lunch with Tanaka Kacho (see picture) and our three trainers Megan from the U.K. and Andy and Angie (see picture) from the States. I think it was kind of a fancy place for Japanese standards, but I really enjoy the atmosphere in the cheaper places, because they just seem more Japanese to me. I didn't really enjoy the food so much because most of it was covered in the kind of sauces we have in Europe too with either cream or tomato in it which I really don't like. Normally I would just try to scrape it of with some napkin, but when you're at lunch with the big boss that would just be rude, so I ate it. I did have a good time talking to Andy who has been living here for four years, got married to his Japanese wife two years ago and has one kid and one on the way. I found out a lot about how people get married and give birth in Japan, you never know when that information will come in handy ;). Apparently the guests at a wedding have to pay a hefty entrance fee and t
