Sweet and quiet is how friends and former instructors at Glenbard North High School remember Gayle Dubowski.
But put her in a choir robe and on some risers, that's where she found her voice.
The 2006 graduate of Glenbard North was a mainstay of several choral programs throughout her four years in high school, even scoring a coveted spot her senior year as a member of the school's Gold Tones

Here are some new tracks from all over the place. For starters, here is some new Man Man. I am pumped for their new album this spring. "Top Drawer" is just as bubbly-likable, fun, and bombastic as we ever remembered Man Man to be. This is a fantastic sneak peak into the new album.

I really don't know what to expect when R.E.M. announce that they will be releasing a new album. I still think the sun shines outta their ass and all, but, I guess I just figured they're getting up there in their career... Anyway, "Supernatural Superserious" is a call for action. Re-add R.E.M. to your iPod-type of action. Just as perfect as we remember them.

Props to GvsB [3] for this one. Take a listen to Holy Fuck's remix of M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes". This one is official guys - and I think it's my favorite.

Justin Randall Timberlake was born to Lynn Harless and Randy Timberlake on January 31, 1981, in Memphis, Tennessee. At the age of 11, he appeared on the show “Star Search” (1983), and even though he didn’t win, it didn’t dampen his ambitions. In the news today about the Grammy Awards with Amy Winehouse winning. Saying is she setting a good message to young people issues with drugs then winning five Grammy awards. My thoughts are she deserved to win the awards her album is awesome. I think her music is so amazing she is one the best artists that has come long in years. They judged it right she should be judged on her music not her personal life. Young people should know we all are human and know that her using drugs is not good since she is in rehab. I think she is real who does not hide who she is or her issues in life. At least she is real and not hiding it like most do in the business being fake. I really like her she has a true and raw talent don’t see much anymore. She is one of those performers that can become legend in the future whatever happens with her life. She is different and interesting with a great talent for creating great songs with a powerful voice to words. - Music Amy Winehouse - Music Grammy Awards - T
Whoa. My car slid twice on the way to work this morning. Pretty good considering that's the first time I've slid all winter. It's so hard though, to take your foot off the gas and not instinctively apply the brake. But I did! I'm learning that in the winter, brakes can be my enemy!! I'm really pleased at how well my little Rio goes in the winterwith studded tires. Especiall considering my co-worker's husband had to grind the whole way up the streetand he has a Jeep with four wheel drive. I think a lot of people get 4 wheel driveand crappy old tires and think they can go anywhere in any kind of weather. Surprise.Last night, moments after I snuggled under the covers, Female Offspring #6 came into my room, shook meand said, "Pssst, Mom, are you still awake? Cuz I need 50 cupcakes for tomorrow morning. We're having a Valentine's Day party. I might have forgotten to mention it."I was very proud of myself. I didn't get all spastic and start screaming about her procrastination problem. I didn
I've been sitting on these tracks for the past week or so but haven't quite found the time to post them. But that time has now arrived! It's a slightly bigger post than normal as I just couldnt condense the list any further, all the tracks are awesome and I couldn't leave any of them out!MP3: The Presets - My PeopleThis is one of my favourite electronic tracks of the year so far. Its got such a deep bassline and cool vocals, and when it drops its just immense!! Its released on the 18th February on Island Recordings. This track will be released as a single next week, following the release of the debut album "Beat Pyramid" a couple of weeks ago. These New PuritansMP3: The Futureheads - The Beginning Of The TwistIt seems every new track from this north east lot that I hear is wicked! The new album should be out later this year, and if the tracks i've heard so far ar

Whitesnake and Trapeze guitarist Mel Galley has been given a grim prognosis for his cancer. He's issued a statement - or, rather, sent a letter to his fans:"Well, as some of you may already have read in the press or seen/heard on other websites, the verdict from the doctors following a full MRI scan is that my condition is terminal. Rather than sit around feeling sorry for myself, I intend to make the most of the time I have left with my family and friends. I am blessed with a fantastic wife and two sons who I am very proud of. For now am just aiming to make my 60th birthday in March."I have enjoyed a great life, travelled the world having some amazing experiences, met all sorts of people and played with some of the best musicians there are."Back in the late '60s when I first started playing in local bands I never imagined how far I would go and the shows I would play. I seemed to tour non-stop with Glenn and Dave in TRAPEZE in the early 70s. We supported THE KINKS and THE MOODY BLUES
Well, maybe not, but a study conducted by New York University's Stern Business School, Does Chatter Matter? The Impact of User-Generated Content on Music Sales, reports that albums which build a number of blog mentions during the time around their release do better than you might otherwise expect:Our findings are as follows: (a) the volume of blog posts about an album is positively correlated with future sales, (b) greater increases in an artist’s Myspace friends week over week have a weaker correlation to higher future sales, (c) traditional factors are still relevant – albums released by major labels and albums with a number of reviews from mainstream sources like Rolling Stone also tended to have higher future sales. We're not entirely sure this should be unexpected, as it's effectively saying 'if people are talking about your product, it must be good for sales' - a truism advertising men from the days of the front of the twentieth century would understand. But given that major l

Twice the meetings occurred in a West Baltimore alley and once in the parking lot of Druid Hill Park, according to police charging documents. The documents allege that one encounter occurred after Price obtained permission from the girl's mother to bring her home from church Bible study class. Police said the
Trust Pritam to give you churning musical hits by the weeks. Pritam first composed music with Jeet for their friend Sanjay Gadhvi’s film Tere Liye. Later Jeet-Pritam gave music to Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hain,a Yash Raj also directed by Sanjay Gadhvi. After the split with Jeet, Pritam went solo and gave a couple of flops. But his fortunes swung when he gave music to Dhoom. Dhoom Machale became the anthem of the nation in the year 2004. Dhoom Machale became and is still the hottest ringtone ever. After Dhoom, Pritam dhoomed into the world of Bollywood music, giving hits after hits. This man is simply unstoppable as he gives music by hook or by crook (reading lifting tunes). Pritam gave hugely successful albums in the form of Gangster, Garam Masala, Chocolate, Bas Ek Pal, Apna Sapna Money Money, Woh Lamhe, Bhaagam Bhag, Dhoom 2, Life in a Metro, Bhool Bhulaiya and Jab We Met among others. Pritam’s next immediate release is Race. He also has the much awaited Singh Is Kinng in line
Himmesh Reshammiya may stop wearing a cap in his new movie Karzzz but then he is a man who has won several caps-of a music director, producer, singer and an actor. Himmesh Reshammiya is incidentally the favorite composer of A.R.Rahman. Though he has had a hit with his movie ‘Aap Ka Suroor - The Real Love Story,’ we would like him to do what he does best-compose music.Himesh Reshammiya is probably the only music director who has the least charges of plagiarism cases against me. The talent music composer that he is , Himesh Reshammiya has always brought originality in his compositions. He boasts about giving more than ten options to one song. He says that he has a music bank of 1000 songs that are yet untouched. His songs may sound alike at times especially when he sings them(lol) but you cannot take credit from him for the fact that his music has been the mainstay of most films he has given music to. In fact, if you take a movie like Aksar or Aashiq Banaya Apne, there is nothing
-----> I am the GURU of music because my tunes are always DIL SE !!A.R.Rahman is the musical genius of India, no two ways about it. He is among the top 25 all time top selling recording artistes of the world. A.R.Rahman began his career in 1991 composing ad jingles in a small studio near his home, called Panchathan Record Inn. In the year 1992, he showed some of his samples to Mani Ratnam, who was impressed gave the boy his first break. A.R. Rahman won the National Award for the best music for his first ever film Roja, a feat that was never achieved by any music composer before. AR Rahman has won national music awards four times, a record in itself-Minsaara Kanavu (Electric Dreams, Tamil) in 1997, Lagaan (Tax, Hindi) in 2002 and Kannathil Muthamittal (A Kiss on the Cheek, Tamil) in 2003) apart from Roja. A.R.Rahman debuted in Bollywood with the zingy music for Rangeela(1993) that redefined sound and music for Bollywood. His debut in Bollywood achieved him Filmfare Award for music

Never mind that today’s factory-produced starlets and mini-clones just don’t have the practiced chops of the supergroups of yesteryear, pop in a new CD and you might notice that the quality of the music itself??maybe something as simple as a snare drum hit??just doesn’t sound as crisp and as clear as you’re used to. Why [...]

Daniel Johnston (b. January 22, 1961 in Sacramento, California) is a prolific American singer-songwriter and artist. He has been classified as an outsider musician. His songs are typically painfully direct, and often display a disturbing blend of childlike naďvete with darker, "spooky" themes. Johnston's singing voice is rather high-pitched, and his performances often seem faltering or uncertain; one critic writes that Johnston's recordings range from "spotty to brilliant". He also draws and paints; he is a cult comic book artist and his illustrations have been featured with most of his albums.D/L:http://www.mediafire.com/?3jmeg9vjilo
Piano Man was founded in 1993. Over the past decade, Piano Man earned the distinction of being the friendliest store to browse and shop for piano products and services in the Boston area. Isn't it nice that some people haven't forgotten what customer service is about?Music is one thing that we can carry with us through our entire lives. My first piano teacher was 72 years old when I started taking lessons. She not only taught piano, about a year after I started taking lessons, she purchased a b3 hammond organ and started taking lessons.I've often told people how she taught me that we are never too old to learn, and that life never ends until the day we choose to end it. She surrounded herself with music. She learned new instruments. She taught me to love music, and she taught me never to quit. She was a widow, on a fixed income, with limited mobility. But, she continued to shape lives and teach people the true meaning of happiness and joy.Her words to me the day her organ arrived wer

As it's been a couple of months since my last "As seen thru the music of" post, I've been itching to do another. You all are also aware that I was one of the few sports bloggers that actually defended, and very much enjoyed, the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers halftime show."I'm also the voice of Lucky on 'King of the Hill!'Can anyone on Nickelback say that? Can Jay-Z? Didn't think so!" So put 2+2 together, and what to you get? Yep, another self-indulgent music post from Big Al, featuring one of my all-time favorite bands, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. (You kids out there who like the rap and the emo wanna make something it? Huh? Huh?) I've been a big Petty guy since high school, which is more years back than I'd ever care to admit, so you know I've been a fan for a long ass time.So one under appreciated group meets another, as we take a look at the team with the 2nd best record in the NBA (Though you'd never know it thanks to the MSM's preoccupation with the Celtics) Detroit Piston
Read the latest press from the book here!"Tamicia Currie’s children’s book The Juice & Berries: Peanut Butter & Sweet Potato Pie follows the adventures of siblings Rhonda and DJ Berrie as they visit their grandfather Papa Juice. Papa Juice is a treasure trove of knowledge, and tells his grandchildren about various historical black figures.“The Juice & Berries is a series of books that highlight African-American history,” Currie said. “Peanut Butter & Sweet Potato Pie is a tribute to Dr. George Washington Carver.”The books are far from straight-up history lessons, though. Peanut Butter & Sweet Potato Pie also focuses on nutrition and finances with regards to Carver’s success. It is the first in The Juice & Berries series; the next book, V-O-T-E, comes out in March and will focus on the importance of being counted in elections.“We’re probably going to publish no less than four books this year,” Currie said. “We’re not just going to focus on

I have always loved acoustic guitar music, especially if the artist knows the intricacies of complex melodic harmonies. Phil Keaggy is one of the top guitarists in the world, and has recorded over fifty albums. He’s a musical genius who is unbelievably humble. I was blessed to watch an interview with him today and it made me remember why I love music. It also made my spirit soar to hear him say, I was 100% musician, and then when I was born again, I belonged to Jesus before I belonged to my guitar. I feel, you can have Jesus without music and have peace. Conversely, if your music is without the Lord, your life, in my opinion, goes nowhere. Talking specifically about his instrumental albums, he said, I’ve done a couple instrumental albums. One is still waiting in the wings, and this one, The Song Within. It has a lot of flavors of the Master and the Musician. There’s a thread that’s been woven throughout all the years, a melodic thread, and I think it comes from the same heart
