  • when you get lost between the moon and new york city
My baby is in New York City!! She has a job interview and I hate to say this, but I hope she doesn't get it. It would be for two years and that's two years too far away!So we ended up with ice and sleet, which equals that grainy stuff that's really hard to drive it. It tends to throw the car at times. Now we're getting a light coating of snow. Eh. And it's off to work I go.

  • Introducing New York City F.C. And The Borough Boys
Talk of a second MLS team in the New York area is about as old as the league itself. Until very recently, talk (more like speculation or gossip) was all it ever amounted to. No longer. In this year's state of the league address, MLS Commissioner Don Garber confirmed that the Wilpon family, owners of the Mets, are indeed seeking a second team for the New York metropolitan area. If I'm not mistaken that was the very first time Garber has publicly acknowledged these efforts.Enter the Borough Boys, a fledgling fan club and de-facto lobbying organization for the hypothetical team, which they have preemptively named New York City, F.C. Being a NYC resident myself, I was intrigued and was able to locate one of the group's co-founders via the Big Soccer sewing circle. What follows is the outcome of our exchange: Soccer Source: So tell me about your organization and what i

  • Arabic Public School Opening Among Protest in New York City
To me there is a definite reason to protest the opening of this particular school since it seems to me that if a public school is theme-based, it should no longer be qualified as a public school but a private school and thus should not be funded by the United States government OR the state of New York. If the Arab community wishes to fund a school that will have an Arab-based curriculum, then it stands to reason that the Arab community should be obtaining private funding for this school. • hey there deliah what's it like in new york city
I was listening to one of my favorite songs today, Big Girls Don't Cry, by Fergie. As much as I like the song, one line stands out as being stupid. She says, "Like the little school mate in the school yard, we'll play jacks and uno cards." What the HELL kind of school did she go to that they played Uno at recess?! Someone else tried to tell me she was saying "jacks and unicorns," as if THAT made total sense. At least she didn't feel the need to spell out words in this song, though, so I give her credit for that. I love this story from China. Check out some of those loving slogans. My favorite is "one more baby means one more tomb." I have a couple slogans for them that are a tad more upbeat. How about, "Wow. You could have had a V8!" or "One less kid means more room in the womb," or simply, "Stop procreating, damn it!" I love the fact that it says the slogans are printed on buildings in "rural areas". China must have trailer trash, too. Good thing the Duggars don't live in China. T
