Upon writing up and introducing why I think newspaper and magazine styles will be the year for blogs is because Wordpress is so versatile. It is not just a blog platform, which for some reason everyone thinks it is. Wordpress is a great CMS platform; you can read on how I chose the best CMS platform here. The stereotype of Wordpress for blogging is absurd; I started to use an article directory cms for my first blog. All a CMS is add content and generates the page with a default template. All we are doing is adding content.
Most users are so accustomed to Wordpress as a blog platform and do not understand the power it can hold. Multiple users and programmers are testing the strength of Wordpress on a day to day basis. New plugins are created on a day to day basis as well as powerful more interactive templates. With that said I have found some great new newspaper/magazine style templates. This year I believe web 2.0 will be strong this year. The reason is because a lot of things has happened near or towards the end of 2007. One popular theme I have realized or picked up was interactive templates or web 2.0 web designs. My template which was create by Brian Gardner is a newspaper themed template, which I added some interaction at the top and front page of my blog.
Interaction with a blog is important as we slowly evolve into web 2.0 and socializing. We as users are getting lazier by the day and year. I think 2008 is that year. But websites are also evolving and even blogs. There is some controversy on blogs looking like newspapers and not the traditional ’scroll’ blog.

If you haven't already checked it out The Issue bills itself as the blog newspaper. Essentially the site pulls key posts from many major blogs (...and me. I don't know why. Maybe they were drunk when they added me or there could be pity involved...) and organizes them in a simple and attractive manner similar to the format of an actual newspaper. Additionally I have noticed that the stories it carries are usually different than those found on Memeorandum so its well worth checking out. So you may want to add them to your rounds when looking for items worth posting about.
