When Joey announced she'd be hosting this round of Hay Hay it's Donna Day! (HHDD), I promised her I'd join in. I always enjoyed seeing the entries to the past rounds that the thought of joining in the fun crossed my mind a few times. But like with other food events (I've only managed one Lasang Pinoy round), I worry about committing and then not meeting the deadline. And although we're given more
I'm still a little embarrassed about the little spiel I did earlier about my recent nomination. I sort of stayed away from the blog for little while for fear that my readers had turned on me and thought I had become some sort of sell-out. I don't know why I feel like that but I'm still a little awkward about getting recognition for the blog, it's nice when other bloggers say nice things about me, but when all the appreciation suddenly becomes official, I somehow get all gawky and reluctant.I guess I'm not sure what the appropriate reaction is, I guess gratitude and excitement would seem apparent, although I'm not sure whether I should be all glaringly blatant about it and in the spirit of blogging- share all things with you the reader or whether I should be all rock and roll about the whole thing, just cool and aloof- no skin off my back whether I win or lose.At some points I manage to border on being apathetic about the whole thing but my inner dork just wants to be all giddy like a s

Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and their multi-ethnic brood took a break from rebuilding New Orleans this week to chill with Brad's family in Springfield, Missouri. The whole Pitt clan plus Angie plus the kiddies (I guess Shiloh too, though there's no photographic proof) reportedly hit a local pizza joint for dinner, and were utterly ignored by the other patrons who apparently regard Pitt and the gang as just regular folks and not big superstars.Hold on a second...you mean there are places on earth where Angie isn't worshipped? I think I may pass out.Okay, to be serious for a second...I'm sure it's a relief for Brad and Angie to know there's someplace they can go and just be treated normal. It's probably nice every now and then. But you know as well as I do that Angie would snap if she had to put up with that all the time. After about four days of being a regular anonymous schlub, her instinct for attention-grabbing would kick in, and then I don't know...she'd probably have to have Jam

Lon and I are huge pizza fans. We're always excited about a new pizza place near us but unfortunately, Pizza 33 Pizza 33 was a disappointment. I ran in for quick plain slice today and concluded that it wasn't worth the $2.25. The thin slice needed more cheese and each component, crust, sauce, and cheese was flavorless. They also committed my biggest peeve; the pizza was barely heated! The guys at the counter also asked my friend Jamie and I several times if it was to stay or to go. We answered "to go" each time and they still forgot to pack her slice to go. That's really not a big deal but the bottom line is that the pizza is below average.
Sometimes I hate this wretched human race; slaves to biology and churlish appetites, forever following the dictates of Priapus, Eros, and a thousand more dead gods who cling to their desperate and pathetically tiny dominions within our psyches. These ancient motives run havoc within us, leading us to seek unwise refuge in the folds of a woman as pallid as extra cheese, with stretch-marks running the length of the Nile and a tongue shaped like a piece of rotten marzipan. Her veloured arms envelope us in our times of Saturnalian confusion and total despondency, as her nicotinal nymph of a friend supports us on breast and shoulder, ensuring we don't plummet into stygian blackness on the cold tile floor of our "common area." Well, I guess it could be worse. If you really want that threesome, you have to expect one of them to be less than desirable. Especially if you look like that douchebag.--NattyRemember how the first big party with girls and alcohol was in middle school? The cops come

Lets see... Lots of interesting stuff going on.First, I stayed up 'till 2 a.m Wednesday working on a term paper. Ugh. Procrastination is the worst. I think procrastination should be classified as a mental illness. I think it would be fair to say about someone, "I'm afraid there is nothing we can do for him, m'am. He is suffering from a very serious case of procrastination." And then maybe in ten or twenty years they will develop a vaccine. Yeah, right.Anyway, the next morning I got to college early so I could photocopy all my sources. As usual, I had some trouble with the copy machine. Sometimes the pages came out with words cut off from either the top of the page or the left side. At other times the damn thing spit out a huge sheet that had both pages of the book on it when I only wanted to copy one. Eventually the copy machine got jammed so I went on to the one next to it. Things were going well until a man and a girl came over to use the jammed machine. Naturally, I didn't say anyth

Paris Hilton has reportedly split with 20-year-old pizza delivery boy Alex Vaggo because he was too shy. Although the socialite tried to bring him out of his shell by parading him around and introducing him to modeling agencies, alas, his good looks were not enough to keep her entertained.According to sources, She loved his good looks, but she gets bored very quickly, and he was too shy and quiet for her. She likes bad boys.Im sure the very handsome Alex Vaggo will have no trouble finding a replacement. Paris Hilton is the one on the losing end here.

Every once in a while, the question comes up “If you were restricted to only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?” The majority answer in a group of people is always pizza. This takes in both nutritional value and taste. Pizza has carbohydrates in the crust, vegetables inthe toppings and sauce, dairy products in the cheese (if its a well-made pizza) and meat, too. Plus, you don’t dirty up any dishes eating it (although you will when cooking one from scratch). My kids and I get carryout pizza at least once a week. We order a large pepperoni with banana peppers on one third of it. Usually that’s what we get, and I get the banana peppers. Sometimes, they hear “peppers on the side” or “peppers on half”, but if they don’t ask for a name, we know it’s going to be just the way we want it. Now, if I could just get the local parlor to charge us the same amount for each pizza... The title image is by Chrissie A

We started the night at Dusk Lounge, Dusk Loungewhich was a good place to catch up with a friend from out of town. It was quiet enough to talk AND HEAR and you could easily grab seats. The bartender was friendly and it was just a no pressure environment with some interesting quirks. They have a wall of napkin doodlings from a contest they have on Tuesday nights called Napkin Idol and the bathrooms have one way mirrors. I know; old new these days. The six of us were getting hungry so we headed out in search of food and landed at Pizza Bar Pizza Bar. It was surprisingly good food for bar food. It's no Numero 28 but the pizza hits the spot for a midnight snack. It's pizza so it still satisfies the late night craving but it's super thin so it's not too heavy. I tried the Tomato, Basil, Mozzarella and the Mushroom with Truffle Oil pizzas. As usual in pizza, I preferred the plain and the mushroom was also a white pizza and I prefer with sauce. Lon had a meatball sandwich that had tender meat

Eating out in Rome can be very expensive. Touristy restaurants with English menus tend to be more expensive than restaurants a block or two away from touristy areas. If you go to a trattoria or a pizzeria on side streets, you dont have to eat a full meal, and you dont have to pay for a full meal. Certain places sell food by weight. They have a counter with different types of pizzas (and other dishes). You choose a piece or two, they will weigh it, and you pay for the weight.A large pizza cut into slices can be shared by two or three adults. So, for us pizza was great for lunch. Simply thin bread garnished with small amounts of flavorful tomatoes and cheese. Most Swedish pizzerias serve monstrous pizzas. They are larger than the plate, and covered with fat toppings such as Bearnaise sauce and fried meat. I get a food coma after such a meal.Pizza (originally a Neapolitan dish) is simple. I havent baked a real pizza at home for ages. Once I had a recipe, which was full proof. Even m
Recipe I eat many times I love pizza so I am always creating new ways for pizza. I use multi grain tortillas then paint olive oil or other oils or butter on the tortilla then bake it in the oven until it is crispy or hard then take out of oven put toppings on. I use chunky salsa instead of pizza sauce because it gives it more flavor and a hot spicy taste. I put any kind of meat topping on like shrimp, beef, turkey, chicken, bacon or other. Most of time I add raw garlic or garlic powder, olives, onions, peppers, mushrooms or any other topping you like. Then add mozzarella cheese on top then put back in oven until cheese is melted. It tastes so good. - Buy Books Recipes - Buy Pizza - Buy Tortillas - Buy Salsa - Buy Olive Oil - Buy Mushrooms - Buy Garlic - Buy Onions - Buy Olives - Buy Mozzarella Cheese
Got one of those cool hand blenders? You know, the kind of gadget that used to be pitched onthose annoying yet compelling late-night infomercials? It comes in handy for this recipe, whichrequires the split peas to be smashed into a smooth consistency, just like the original. If you don't have a hand mixer, a standard blender works just fine. This soup is very tasty and very low in fat. And the barley gives it a special chunky consistency and added flavor that isn't found in most pea soups.2 cups split peas6 cups water2 14.5-ounce cans chicken broth (4 cups)1/3 cup minced onion1 large clove garlic, minced2 teaspoons lemon juice1 teaspoon salt1 teaspoon granulated sugar1/4 teaspoon dried parsley1/4 teaspoon white pepperdash dried thyme1/2 cup barley6 cups water2 medium carrots, diced (about 1 cup)1/2 stalk celery, diced (1/4 cup)Garnishchopped green onion1.Rinse and drain the split peas, then add them to a large pot with 6 cups of water, chickenbroth, onion, garlic, lemon juice, salt,
