  • (Half-hearted) Plagiarism Acknowledgment
OK, so today is December 7, THE day when the "Guru" magazine s'posed to print the acknowledgment that one of its articles in the "Ying Thai" column was plagiarized from me. I almost missed the so-called "acknowledgment"... because it came out on the 'CONTENTS' page of the magazine, waaaaaay down below, in such a tiny font that normal human beings wouldn't even notice. Click on the THIRD pic to have a closer AND bigger view of the so-called "acknowledgment'... But anyway, the font is soooo teeeeny tiiiiiny you probably wouldn't see anything... SIGH~!!! P.S. I actually noticed first that "Guru" editor Khun Voranai has stayed true to his decision to terminate the "Ying Thai" column... it was absent from today's "Guru". Background story of this whole fiasco here: I've Been Plagarized~!!!!!! http://streetsmartsukhumvit.multiply.com/journal/item/66/Ive_Been_Plagiarized PLAGIARISM - closeup: http://streetsmartsukhumvit.multiply.com/photos/album/35/PLAGIARISM_-_closeup I...

  • Andre Harper’s Campaign Plagiarism
Each campaign cycle, bigger money candidates steal ideas and slogans from smaller money candidates.  The belief is that, since a certain candidate is likely to get less media exposure, few will know that the act of plagiarism has taken place.  In a recent direct mailing, Republican Andre Harper steals a line from Justin Jeffre—one he likely got from Justin at a forum in Oakley—and even caters to Green sensibilities through graphic design.  This is nothing short of political plagiarism.
  • MoveOn Presents Opportunity for Plagiarism But Nobody Bites
It turns out that MoveOn.org has an online tool to write letters to the editors of newspapers which can be used to create wholly plagiarized letters. Not content to give visitors the capability to write what they think and feel in textboxes, MoveOn has decided it needs to add “talking points” that visitors can [...]
  • Online plagiarism checker
Plagiarism occurs when people steal and pass off someone else's written or creative work, as their own. It doesn't matter if it is whole or in part. This also includes reproduction of the work without crediting the source.I used to lecture at a Public University in Malaysia as well as in private educational institutions and I was quite shocked to see how ignorant most students were regarding plagiarism. Studies in the US also show similar findings. According to surveys there, 80% College students admitted to un-intentional plagiarism. 75% students admitted to cheating and 95% did not believe they would get caught. However, 100% were caught by their institutions. It is getting tougher and tougher to detect plagiarism, what with the so many resources available in a few clicks plus the ability to just 'copy and paste' into a Word document. Some students assumed that it is OK to "create" a paper from different sources using the 'copy and paste' method without hardly any original conten

  • Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery? How about plagiarism?
So I’m traipsing through the Internet reading things about Linux when I come across a site that has lots of good looking Linux articles. Then I notice a headline that looks very familiar. After reading the first paragraph I realize that the below article is a word for word cut-n-paste of an article I wrote and published in November of ‘06 (Pic after jump) If you’ve ever written a Linux how to on your site, I’d highly suggest checking out the site below to see if your article’s been hijacked as well. What would you do if you were in my position? I know it’s just a matter of time until some ad revenue leach starts stealing my content. Now it’s happened. I don’t mind links, I wouldn’t even mind a complete cut and paste as long as the original article/ArsGeek was linked back to and attributed. But this stuff takes time, effort and energy to write. You don’t get to just take it and use it for your own. Notice I didn’
