"Pleasure Factory" was not pleasurable AT ALL~!!
I'd watched its trailer with much interest before its arrival here and entered the movie theater (in Emporium, of coz - where else) with very high expectations. After all, "Pleasure Factory" is directed by Pen-Ek Ratanaruang, Thailand's much-acclaimed director who made "Last Life in Universe", "Monrak Transistor" and "Ploy".
"Pleasure Factory" is about Singapore's notorious red-light district, Geylang, where prostitution is tightly controlled (but legal) and pleasure of any kind can be bought with cold hard cash.
Sounds inviting, doesn't it?
The first thing that annoyed me about the movie was the fact that it was dubbed in Thai, with English subtitles. The movie was originally shot in Mandarin and English (both commonly spoken in Singapore), so I was severely disappointed when I found out that instead of hearing Singapore's multiculturalism, I was forced to listen to the typical (lame-o) Thai dubbin...

So why do I like what most people think is pathetic, ignorant BS? I like the heart-warming southern lyrics, hillbilly ballads, party songs, songs about love and lost, and wild redneck stuff. Yep. The whole nine yards... From Hank Williams Jr, to Garth Brooks, to George Straight, to Johnny Cash, to even Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood.

Today is normally my beach day with my daughter, but our plans changed. We went hiking to sacred power spots on Maui instead. One of the places we hiked to was the ancient rock carvings, petroglyphs, which are located maka-side Olowalu.My daughter had never been there before, and she loved the mana of this isolated place. Even though these petroglyphs are mentioned in some guide books, not many people hike to them. There was only one family from Chandler, Arizona and us.It felt so good to get away from the city energy and to be in Nature again, something I haven't been doing as much these days because I've been tied to the computer with my writing projects.
Once in a while I post story clips from something I'm writing, and I suppose now is one of those times. It can be somewhat graphic, so be warned ahead of time.

He ran his finger tips over the curvature of her shoulder, the feel of her silky skin sent electric jolts through his body and into his loins.
